Ever since I healed up and laid the BrokeLeg Blog to rest ive been thinking about how I could contribute to the Pixlbit blogging community in a more regular manner than my update and purchase blogs, which are pretty bland.

Ive been a reader of Game Informer for years.  Ive watched as blogging exploded and waned there...seen a plethora of crappy features and biased reviews get posted by editors...and through it all the only thing ive maintained any modicum of respect for is the weekly (usually) Weekend Warrior feature.

In case you may be unfamiliar,  in that feature the editors all detail their plans for the weekend,  gaming and otherwise,  and the readers respond in the comments section with their own plans.

And it works...that feature, without fail, always draws a huge response from the readership.  Oftentimes the readers react to their fellows' comments with exhortation and/or lauding...I myself  once found a few buddies to co op through Portal 2 with in thw same manner.  Its great for so many reasons, not the least of whi ch is that it provides a forum to jot down a quick check-in via.

Im bringing that here, in a truncated form, as im not staff.  Still I have a burning itch to be super-nosy, and im hoping the community sees it as an opportunity to talk about themselves....because lets face it, everyone likes to do it, to some degree.  With that, im gonna kick this pig and start it on up!

-I was hired a couple days ago to Hot Topic,  and my store manager told me today after my brief, brief training session that there MAY be hours available this weekend.  Im always game for work,  so while playing the waiting game im going to dig deeper into my newly purchased copy of Injustice:Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition.   Im currently playing through the story mode, and am having a blast learning how to beat the utter shit out of the AI with 4 hit combos.  Im also gonna pop that copy of LEGO Batman 2 on my 6-year old tomorrow,  and let him get in some substantial playtime.  While hes using the PS3 IM going to be playing Hearthstone,  checking out a few other characters besides the Rogue I thought id get good with during the open beta (rushdown decks are still something I wanna work on though).  In the off hours I imagine we will do some grocery shopping...and im looking forward to watching season 3 of Hell On Wheels, which just dropped on Netflix.

How about you guys and gals?

Whats on your agenda?

I'll probably work on music all saturday, but I tend to rest on sundays and don't get shit done.  My brother will probably come up from the city and hang out.  Probably swimming in the pool will be involved. I'l probably spend considerable time scolding the puppy from chasing my 15 year old little dog, Taco Belle.

I have to write my review for Valiant Hearts, and my Game of the Generation article for Pixlbit today.  PRobably won't finish both until saturday or so.

I'll probably spend some time playing Banner Saga, which I think you would like, and Mass Effect 2.  Also want to try this game "Bunny Must Die" on steam that I bought a while back, as well as finally get to Broken Age.

a typical weekend.  I don't go out much, and don't really care to.  I like things simple and quiet.

I'm the same way, Mr. Snee.  I'd rather stay at home and not be out during my recreational/leisure time.

As you are well aware I'm stuck inside of Rainbow Moon with those new game blues again. I keep trying to play something else but now that I have my ship I'm finding new dungeons and old side quests I never completed. I'm around level 50 now and I found a dungeon with a monster that is level 150 and another at level 999. Holy crap.

I am managing to play a bit more of Etrian Odyssey IV on 3DS when I can pry myself off the PS3.

I'm off to visit my parents this afternoon. My son is living with them while he works in the fields detasseling corn. Good excuse to sit on the front porch and drink in the quiet little town of Dresden, Ontario.

And it goes on and on, watching the river run.......

Ahh, ag work...it builds character.  How old is your son?

How many hours have you sunk into Moon?  You're over the 40 hour mark, I'm willing to bet

Christien is 22. Not sure how he got that old. Seems like yesterday he was just a little boy riding his tricycle and watching Fantasia over and over again. LOL. This is his first paid gig.

I'm over 50 hours. I just collected all the parts for the staff that was supposed to get me off of Rainbow Moon but being an RPG veteran they couldn't fool me that easily.

After that point there's a ridiculous spike in difficulty. I'm running into groups of enemies that even my strongest powers can't take out in a single turn and then they devastate my level 50+ team. I've had to run from two or three encounters already. Thankfully escape is guaranteed.

I'll probably finish up SMT Digital Devil Saga 2 (I've been grinding in the final dungeon over the last couple days), and play some more Shovel Knight and maybe Strange Journey on the 3DS.  Maybe play a little more Far Cry 3, but I've been having trouble getting into that game for some reason.  I've also been watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix, so we'll probably finish that up.

For the more boring stuff, I also plan on sealing up my crawlspace vents with foam board, getting new AC filters, and probably shopping for a suite for my upcoming wedding.

I also had trouble getting into Far Cry 3.  Come to think of it, Ive had trouble getting into all of the Far Cry games....I still haven't really played Blood Dragon, and I bought that like 8 months ago

I had trouble getting very far in Blood Dragon, but FC3 was the shizzle. I need to go back and finish that one.

Today, I'll be cleaning a bit.  We're having a little combined birthday party for my children and it's a good time in invite family and friends that are from out-of-town.  Party is tomorrow.  I'm also playing some Saints Row today and maybe try to beat Dragon Quest VI (DS) again.  I'm at the last boss on DQ6 and he keeps beating me.  If I'm lucky, I can get the baby to take a nap this afternoon and then I can watch Killer Klowns from out of Space for the next postcast my friend and I are doing.

Dude, I'd love to listen to your 'casts.  Shoot me a URL or something!

I too, will be cleaning this afternoon.  I've got a small mountain of dishes to scrub.  I already made breakfast for the ol' lady and then cleaned up after my dog, Loki....for such a small animal, he sure does shit a lot.

It's easy to get cleaning done with my kids gone.  They went to the grandparents house for the week.  They come back tomorrow morning.  Only the baby stayed home with my wife & I.  We cut grass and weedeated yesterday.  This morning I used the blower and picked up any little pieces of trash that was missed.  We have a water slide coming in tomorrow morning, so I had to make sure the backyard is cleared of toys, bikes, tree branches, etc.

Now Vs Nostalgia is the name of the site.  Here's a LINK.  My friend, Jon, asked me to do it with him back in January.  It was suppose to be a couple times a month, but we've been doing them more often than that.  It's mostly movies from the 80s and 90s, but we did do a couple on videogames.  We're currently thinking about doing a separate podcast series on retro games.  It's still just in the works.

First thing is I'm going to check the sales on both PS3 and Xbox 360. Then I may send friend requests to anyone here on Pixlbit that I haven't already on both systems.

Then I'll be playing more Earth Defense Force 2025 on Xbox 360 with my friend Mark. I'm going to leave the game open to friends though because you can have up to four in online co-op.

I may find a few moments to take a break from that and get some Weapon Shop de Omasse in on my 3DS. I've been unable to get much time on my 3DS lately. I really want to finish that. I may do the friend request thing on that as well.

My weekend is really Sunday/Monday because I work Sat night. So the festivities will start on Sunday around noon EST.

OOo! And I just saw Hercules is out and playing at my local IMAX 3D theater. I've been really into that experience regarless of the movie, so I may try and see that Sunday night late.

No Bitch and The Hundred Knight for you this weekend?

KnightDriver

07/26/2014 at 02:44 AM

Naw. Since I started EDF with my friend Mark, I think we'll be doing that for a while. Probably until Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition comes out in a few weeks, then we'll be doing that. So it may be a while before I get back to it unfortunately. That's just the way it goes.

I think I missed out on this feature of yours from long ago. I'll giveit a try now that it has returned. Enjoy Hot Topic, always wanted to try it but I can't handle the booming music they play in my local stores. and their craze with Twilight/Bronies didn't help.

Just some Ace Combat Infinitie for me. not sure if I'll go late night since I only have 11 units of stocked fuel.

I downloaded AC Infinity last night.  Gonna give it a go a bit later today.

Probably try out the DS2 DLC: Sunken King. Star Trek Online, and finish up on ZombiU on WiiU again. How is Dragon Age coming along?

xDarthKiLLx

07/25/2014 at 09:40 PM

I havent been playing it man.  Im going to reroll into a mage I think.  I want to try out the Sunken dlc as well...but think im going to wait til my bday in September.   Gotta get another copy of the game....id traded it off after putting 140 hours into it total.  After all that I still want to play dark souls 2

I think you can access the DLC if you beat the Gultch boss. That's where the entrance is. You get transported to another world or realm or something. The area is pretty tough. As long as you keep your saves it's all good I think you can continue when you get your game back.

no doubt.  I'm gonna get back into Demon's Souls in the next few days I think....I've got a hankerin'.

I'm probably gonna try out the Destiny beta this weekend. Don't really know much about it other than it's a shooter, so I'm looking forward to the surprise.

Also like always I'll spend most of the day lurking here, on other blogs, and reddit.

Nothing wrong with lurking....just wish there was more to read here.

I'm gonna either go with my friend to look at bikes in the next town over, visit with my other friends' new puppy, or both tomorrow. Just got back from Call of Duty and playing Cards Against Humanity while watching The Office and playing with another friend's dog at his apartment with the friend who wants to look at bikes.

Then I'm going to hermit-write this 20-25 page research paper I thought was due this week, so I can get a much more polished rough draft in than I thought I was going to. That will pretty much consume my time until Thursday.

That's a lot of writing.  I'm sure you'll write it well.

Since I am maybe a couple of days behind everyone, this past weekend was my usual of CD Saturday/Sunday (either day) where I either hit up the local thrifts, or the mom & pop music store to see what new albums I can find.

I also played a bunch of Lego Hobbit to finish off the main story, so I can go back through and play the side quests, and try to unlock all the gold bricks.

I'll be looking forward to your Quick Hits for this week.   And as far as being a couple days behind....Better Late Than Never, I always say!
