So I'm not certain why this game got such a bad rap..it's certainly not even close to the worst game I've ever played.  Granted, the copy I bought today has had some really bad problems with the cutscenes, but after I beat the 2nd level the game was stuck at a loading screen for something like 5 minutes...so I ended up stopping and inspecting the disc.

Sure enough, there were scratches on top where all the data is located.  Gonna take it back to Gamestop tomorrow morning and have my buddy Jon replace the game.  He didn't hand me a reciept today, but I'm 100% positive he'll make the switch.  I've know this dude for around 6 years now, and I doubt he'll want to risk me giving him fucked-up feedback lol.

Anyhow though, the game strikes me as a perfectly serviceable 3rd person shooter set in the Resident Evil universe.  Since I have no roots in the RE games at all I'm not aghast at any of the game mechanics.  It does seem like the world is a bit "empty" but I'm willing to forgive as much.  For ten bucks, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

I've always wanted to try the game. I even have some DLC I got off the PSX store for free in anticipation that one day I'll get the game

i paid like 10.75 or so after tax at Gamestop.  It's definitely not a full-price game....defintely not a 30 dollar game....but for the 10 dollar used price point, I'm happy with it thus far.  I'll keep you posted!

PS I'm downloading that same DLC right now too

Well, it's good that you at least are enjoying it.

I think not being a fan of Resident Evil helps.

That makes sense. We'll see how Resident Evil 4 goes for me. I may be on your boat. lol That's not fair to say at this point, it just hasn't sucked me in at the early stage I'm at in the game and the hype for it is pretty up there so I'm a little disappointed. Still, I'm hoping that tension I keep hearing of ramps up a good deal.

If you liked this game then you should try RE 4, 5 & 6 because they play pretty much the same. Also RE Revelations, that new one on a boat.

I tried that game...maybe a year ago? I did not like it at all, though I'm having trouble remembering specifics. It wasn't so bad when I got in an online game but it was buggy and kept dropping the connection. I can't imagine there's much of an online community for it now.

I was intrigued by that game before it released, I just never bought it. Then I heard the reputation and had less incentive to buy it. It doesn't look that bad at all.

I have had too much on the backlog for a while is another factor in not getting it too...

So I ended up taking the bunk copy of Raccoon City back to my buddy at Gamestop....and he laced me up with the Steelbook Collector's Edition at no extra charge.

Goes to show you....doesn't matter how much you like or dislike Gamestop...being friends with the manager isn't ever a wasted effort.

Ive heard the bad rep the game got but I still want to give it a try. the trailer and concept of the game sounds intersting. the only thing I kight notmlike about it would be how they treated the story lore of racoon city's final moments.

I think I picked up my copy around the same price. I haven't played a lot of it but so far I agree it's worth around $10 bucks. As long as you're enjoying it, that's what really counts.
