Hello one and all!

I've been so ate-up with playing Dark Souls II that I've been a bit remiss in my duties here at Pixlbit...without further delay (and certainly better late than never) I give you this week's edition of.......

What are you playing???

Phew....too much Dark Souls II.  I ended up purchasing the Old Iron King DLC, and initially was so pissed off by a few parts that I considered "unfair", I nearly put it down.  Notice the quotations on "unfair".....it's more like I'm "unskilled", hehe.  I stuck with it though, and eventually took down the two bosses in the DLC that matter....Ser Alonne and Raime, the Fume Knight.  After I beat the DLC I immediately began another playthrough so I could experience New Game Plus in all its evil goodness.  I fucked up and sold off a piece or two of Raime's armor to Gavlan by accident though, so it looks as though I'll be making another foray into Brume Tower to take on the Fume Knight again.  If I get my nerve back after that encounter, then maybe I'll posse-up with a couple people and attempt the Smelter Demon.  I hated him in the original encounter, so I'm not exactly gung-ho to fight an enhanced version.  The A.I. is crazy smart in the DLC, especially the A.I. that you can summon.  They'll actually greet you with gestures when you summon them!  And the A.I. invaders...those bastards will use gestures when they kill you.  I've a particular hatred of the No Way gesture now.

I've heard from a couple people that the Sunken King DLC isn't quite the same sort of difficulty as Iron King, but still difficult in its own right, so I may spend the ten bucks and play it to see for myself.  I'm currently around 220 hours deep across 3 characters into Dark Souls II, and I'm not at all tired of the game.

This is gonna be one of those titles that I'll be playing for a year or so.

What are you watching?

I just finished up season 5 of The League on Netflix streaming...that show's funny as hell.  I also rented Captain America: The Winter Soldier the other day and watched it 3 times, and actually began looking up characters via the internet, as I've never been too deep into the comics for that particular character.  Turns out there were a ton of characters worked into the movie that've been steadily featured in the comics over the years; makes me want to get some of the trade paperbacks.

What are you reading?

Sadly....not much.  Mostly blogs and such.

What are you eating?

Ham and pineapple pizza was the flavor of the weekend.  I also ended up trying a couple of those Lay's flavors that are in some sort of contest....Peter did a blog about them not too long ago.  I tried the Wasabi Ginger kettle-cooked chips, which were utterly delicious....they really, really nailed that flavor.  I also had the mango salsa flavor, but to be honest those ones tasted more of mango than salsa.  I also saw some cappuccino-flavored chips and wasn't at all tempted to try those.  I may check out the Bacon Mac n Cheese flavor though.

I wonder if they can just make a bacon-flavor.  I'd be all over that.

How about YOU?  What're you up to this weekend?  Inquiring minds wanna know!!!!!

Firstly: The league is awesome. I've only seen the first 3 seasons though, but it's pretty funny. Also, the cast of that show always end up in other shows I like, like Community, Parks and Rec, Louie, and It's Always Sunny.

Secondly, Winter Soldier is my second favourite Marvel movie.

Third: Fuck the Fume Knight. He's a dick. Still have't gotten past him.

Fume Knight is tough for sure.  I hear that dragon in Sunken is no pushover either.

A bacon flavour that tastes like real bacon would be excellent. I'd definitely be down for the wasabi ginger too. We wouldn't go near the mango salsa though. Even if it's artificially flavoured my wife is allergic to mango so better to be safe than in the emerg.

I've just finished American Gods and I have to say that I'll be looking for more Gaiman very soon. The book was in parts dark and disturbing and in others funny and quirky.

The whole thing is based on the fact that the old gods from all over the world are fading because no one remembers them. Mixed in are the new gods of TV and technology because that's what people worship today.

He really did his homework. I knew that Christmas was a pagan holiday borrowed by Christianity but I have no idea that Easter was too. Easter is derived from Eostre, an old German fertility god.

In conclusion American Gods is one of the best books I've read in years. Very entertaining.

I just finished eating scrambled eggs with jalapenos, onions, ham and cheese accompanied by a toasted cheese and jalapeno bagel. I'm starting the day off right.

nearly everything in Christianty was borrowed from another religion. as a whole it's an amalgamation of all the others, and it's a real hack-job.

Makes it really hard to swallow as an adult, in retrospect.....I grew up in the Pentecostal church, and was taught that there's one god, and all other religions were pathes to hell.  Even the death and resurrection of Christ were borrowed from Egyptian religion, i.e. the death and rebirth of Osiris.

No offense to anyone, of course!  In light of all that though, I'm quite glad I don't follow a traditional religion (or any religion really) for that matter anymore.

I need to check out that Gaiman book.

Yes, yes you do.

I don't have any problem with religion as far as a set of rules to live by goes. Don't kill, don't steal, be nice to people and that kind of stuff. It's the way I live.

If you don't believe in my god you are wrong and you should die on the other hand is just a pile of bullshit.

I believe as Bill and Ted believe. Be excellent to each other and party on dude. :)

Yep.

Try to do well and good in everything, can't ask for much more than that.

hey Weekender!

I saw Cap America for the first time the other night.  Liked it a lot, didn't love it.  I llike Cap as a character, and this movie is much better than the first one.  I used to read the comics as a kid, and have read some comics since.  He could be a really stupid character if you think about it, but he's actually quite fascinating, and is one of the best marvel characters no doubt.

I've been trying to finish the rewrite of the sci fi book I am writing, and only have a few pages left before I can shut the door on that.  Will be excited to move on and work on the second volume next.

Today is football day, and my brother just showed up at the house, so it willl be chill for the rest of the day.

I'm working nights this weekend, so I've been playing on my 3DS mostly.  Playing a lot of Devil Survivor: Overclocked.  Also watching a lot of comedy and action movies.

Doing a lot of retro gaming. Played Mach Rider and Ikari Warriors on NES today and started Splatterhouse on Xbox 360 in order to unlock the first arcade game. I'll be doing more of the same tomorrow. Then I hope to finish another blog or two about all that.

My weekend was mostly food shopping and making the final decision about my dead PS3.

As I'm sure you've noticed the choice has been made...

And a good choice it was.  PS3 as a console still has more than enough life left in it.

I'm still a little hesistant to try those new Lays flavors. I tried last season's and the Chicken N' Waffles tasted more like Top Ramen (not a fan).

As for the past weekend, I think I played a mission on Destiny, and had CD Saturday, along with visiting the local Swap Meet looking for toy deals (anyone selling video games think eBay pricing is the going rate).
