We’re taking video games discussion back. There has been way too much anger, negativity, finger pointing, and plenty of other things in recent months that have diverted a majority of us away from why we’re all on this here website: vidya games!

PixlBit aims to stay above the snarky, jaded, and sometimes quite ugly type of commentary that seems to pervade other video game websites (yes, there are a lot of good eggs out there, but they have been drowned out lately), and to that end we are cooking up a big staff feature. In a nutshell, we are going to take some time to remind ourselves (and our readers) just why we love video games so much, and why we continue to play them long after we are “supposed” to put them away.

In planning this, we decided that we can’t do a special like this without the people that keep us on our toes and striving to do better: you! Why do you game? It seems like such an obvious question, and yet it’s become way too easy lately to forget that we’re all gamers, and that this is a hobby that we love.

I’m asking for some user submissions. In one or two paragraphs, tell us why you game and what you love about it. Please don’t submit them to the comments section, because we want them to be new and fresh when the piece goes live. You can PM me through the site or email submissions to me at Julian@pixlbit.com. Please note that we will be doing edits for grammar and such, but nothing to censor your voice. All we ask is that this not become a huge “pro” or “anti” that-scandal-that-shall-not-be-named. Really, we’d like to avoid any mention of it at all, because this is all about the games.

We may not be able to include every single submission, but we’d love to have one to two entries per staff member, which should mean plenty of slots for your stories. Thank you, and game on!
