One week to go until The Haunting Hour commences....until then, we get to enjoy another FULL WEEK of spooky gaming goodness.

Until then, let's get our Weekender going, shall we?

It's not the Halloween Edition of the Weekender yet, but I couldn't resist using this graphic for this edition:

What Are You Playing?

This week I've been playing Fallout 3; I've been through the game a few different times but never on my PS3...figured I'd stack some trophies and experience one of the best RPG's of last generation.  I've also continued to play Dark Souls II, well after my Platinum trophy.  It's easily my favorite game of the last generation...I'll be getting the Ivory King DLC next week and starting yet ANOTHER new character...I really want to see what Vendrick has to say about the Crowns.  I'll probably also use the new character to obtain EVERY SINGLE ARMOR SET IN THE GAME.  Ruin Sentinel Armor, here I come!  Other than those two games, I've played a bit of Bloodrayne Betrayal, a bit of Bayonetta, and have yet to begin Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.  I bought those all in last week's Flash Sale...I also ended up buying Mirror's Edge as well as Sacra Terra,

What Are You Watching?

Been watching the first season of The 100, as well as the old Treehouse Of Horror episodes of The Simpsons.

What Are You Reading?

Not too much right now.  I finished up A Clash Of Kings and decided to take a short break from fiction...so I moved on to a book about the death of General George Patton.  More on that book later.

What Are You Eating?

This weekend the fam and I are going to try out Freddie's Steakburger and Frozen Custard...should be pretty good.

What about you?  What's on your agenda this weekend?  And how come nearly NONE OF THE STAFF comment this blog?

Weirdos, I tell ya!

Gonna play me some Legend of Korra when I get the chance. Actually played some Hyrule Warriors today. It was fun.

I've mostly been watching football, but also Halloween-themed stuff on Netflix. The Nightmare on Elm Street series documentary Never Sleep Again was really interesting, I finally finished Evil Dead 2, chuckled a bit at the homosexual overtones of A Nightmare  on Elm Street 2, and fell asleep watching Cabin in the Woods, which I saw in theaters. And of course, I'll be watching the new Korra episode tomorrow! Can't wait!

Still need to read The Fault In Our Stars, still haven't had time.

I'm eating healthy again, but since all that means is keeping calories under 2000 and protein at 150+ so I can do my workouts, I still eat junk food like Little Ceasars and cookies cause I can.

And it's Homecoming week here at my university (Stephen F. Austin State University) so I'll be doing a remote broadcast during the tailgate before the game for the on-campus radio station I manage. I also have to make sure the Classic Hits playlist doesn't suck while we do that; gonna put in lots of classic rock and make sure "Purple Haze" gets in there since that's what our fan section at games is called (our colors are purple and white). Then we go to all alternative rock all the time for the rest of the semester at least, which I'm excited for.

Tomorrow, I'm covering the bonfire/pep rally for the on-campus newspaper I edit the opinions page for. Should be fun, even though I don't like country. They had an 80s cover band when I was a Freshman dammit! bring that back! At least I'll get to see a good local band called Rockett Queen our station plays at my favorite local bar (Maklemore's ... mmmm fried mac n cheese balls with orange sauce) Saturday night.

Then I get to write my editorial for the week, do my stats projects and work on my Master's thesis over the weekend! Oh, and I'm adopting a cat. I just made life so "fun" for myself.

I hope you do some sort of write-up or impressions blog on the Korra game.  I'd much rather see what a trusted source thinks of it as opposed to reading all the slams I've seen on the interwebs.

Fried mac n cheese sounds like something straight from heaven.  I've yet to come across something like that out here in my neck of the woods.

The comments on IGN are certainly not as harsh as the review itself. I'll have to play it for myself. I'm a fanboy of the series, so a Platinum-developed game for $15 was gonna get me no matter the review scores. Jamison Miller on plus10damage gave a 6.5 review score which I think is about what it will end up being for me as well. It seems like a decent game for what it is with lots to be desired. They were up front the story would only be about 4-6 hours long, so it's not like I'm expecting the Okami of licensed games. Like I said though, we'll see how I feel when I play it. I may have been a bit too excited in my preview of it, but I think my expectations have been made more realistic.

And here's a guy showing you how to make mac n' cheese balls. you're welcome.

Play: a game called Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and obsessively all weekend.
Watch: Just more daily Cinemassacre's Monster Madness horror movie reviews.
Read: Started Company Commander: a real life account of battle during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII, and reading Moby Dick again, this time on audio book.
Eat: picnic food like hot dogs and beans. Maybe cook a marshmallow over the hot vents of my Xbox 360.

Hot dogs and beans are good stuff.  I like to slice my dogs in half and sear them in a pan, then hit the dog down the middle with a little worcestershire and ketchup.  Then place the dog in the bun and pile those beans high.

That's good eating.

Oo. That sounds good. May have to try that.

I'm going to my friend Mindy's annual harvest party tomorrow, so today I'm going to make a couple of apple crisps, one for me and Jason, and one for the party.

Playing: Bouncing back and forth between South Park: The Stick of Truth and Sleeping Dogs. I've noticed that they both have some serious technical issues, South Park more so that Sleeping Dogs. I got stuck in a freaking loading screen, fer crying out loud! And the loading times seem a little excessive, but what do I know, I'm not a game designer. Either way, technical difficulties have not lessened my enjoyment overly much.

Reading: Months and months worth of blog entries from when I was too busy this summer. Thinking of starting my annual reading of The Lord of The Rings while I'm doing laundry today.

Watching: All kinds of stuff and none of it Halloween-themed. I need to get caught up on Arrow before the first episode of Season 3 disappears off Hulu Plus.

Season 2 was awesome.  All I have to say about it is "Deathstroke".

Now that my PS3 is functioning I'm playing Costume Quest on it. Hoping to be finished this weekend. Fun game.

I'm watching the clock, waiting for the dealership to call me back about my new car. It's been a complete cluster fuck so far but I am determined that I will emerge from this victorious.

Reading Curse of Chalion, another one of my Humble books. it's pretty good so far but there have been a couple of glaring grammar errors in the early chapters. The first one was a character saying that a donkey would be "much more slow" than her horse and in the next chapter the protaganist says that something would be "very heaven". I can put up with reading things like that in amateur blogs but from a professional writer no way. There is some shit up with which I will not put! :)

Eating I just had a bowl of cereal washed down with a shot of Benylin All-In-One coz I'm sick as a dog right now.

You sir have a fun filled weekend.

As for myself let's see

Playing: NCAA Football, War for Cybertron, and the usual lineup on the tablets

Watching: I've been in a stand up comedy mood lately so I've been watching the specials on Netflix and a couple on HBO Go

Reading: Probably go back to that Walt Whitman book I started while sitting in a waiting room

Eating: I might have another Steak Night, but most likely hit the local Filipino sandwich guy for some fried pork belly and bacon cheese fries, or what I like to call "Hog Wild"

I have to ask what is Frozen Custard? Is it like ice cream? The sound of Steakburgers sounds freaking awesome!

I have no clue what a frozen custard is Chris....this place is brand-new here in town.  I'll know about it this evening...I'll even post pics for you!

After I read this blog, a day later I found out there is a frozen custard place opening up. I'll give it a try when it finally opens.

Yeah, it's pretty much just ice cream by a different name.

Oh cool, like I mentioned in a reply there's shop opening up here that sells Frozen Custard so I'm going to give it a try.

I tried a sample at Freddy's....it was definitely soft-serve ice cream.  Tasted mighty fine though.

Does The 100 get good? I started watching it but it was so... CW-ey. The music choices especially ruined it for me, and some of the characters made me want to headbutt a canary.

I've kind of burnt out on Dark Souls 2 at the moment. I've put nearly 300 hours into it, and I just don't want to go back to it for now despite my love for it.

I'm playing Penumbra at the moment. Frictional make the only games that actually scare me anymore. I mean seriously scare me. I can play any Silent Hill game without so much as a whimper. A frictional game though? I'm a mess when I'm done.

The 100 isnt as good as I was hoping itd be. Youre right about the music...seemed fully out of place and pandered to the pop culture audience.   Also the show is too predictable.  Im also a tad worn out with DS2 after last night.  I think im gonna play Persona 4 the rest of the weekend and then dive into Resident Evil games for Halloween week.

Well I finished a first playthrough of Borderlands with Nisha, now I playing Athena. I want to beat it on normal with everyone before I start taking them into True Vault Hunter Mode. Already seeing people at lv 50, its crazy. I'm kind of over Destiny at the moment.

Still watching the new American Horror story. Despite not being one for darker tales,  I really am diggin this show. It has style and and a really good cast.

I have to give my friend her book back before she will let me barrow the next one, so not read at the moment.

I had a cheese and egg biscuit with a dirty iced chai, they call it dirty because they put a shot of expresso in it. Very good, also will wake you up like a mule kick to the head.lol

I've been feeling the urge to replay my Fallout games too on my PS3 since I lost all my data when my original unit crashed. But I don't want to just yet given all the Octoberween Gaming goodness I have in store for myself this weekend and the next.

noot to much reading given the current brushfires I have to tend to at the moment. and the food front nothing speical either. Just conting down the days till I can be evil again.

I was planning on testing out my egg launcher but my town moved Halloween up a day early and I wasn't told! I was also planning on binging on various halloween games and movies on netflix but that fell thru due to the funeral.

I ended up playing a bit, watched classic house on haunted hill and went to bed early. LAME!
