I Miss Playing Video Games

Posted on 03/18/2013 at 08:49 PM | Filed Under Blogs

PS2 has a pretty robust liabrary of games and you can get most pretty cheap. Cube smaller selection but has some real gems. I'm old school and don't realy like digital copies of anything but I have downloaded my share of old PS1 games I missed the first time round. Speaking of heartier machines, I still have my first PS1 I got back in 97 when I graduated highschool and it still works. When PS3 and the 360 came out seemed like most people were lucky if the damn thing lasted a year. One of the reasons I waited so long to get a PS3. Yeah, sometimes simple is better.

JRPGS have left me in a state of ambivalence recently

I have only put a few hours into this game, but it was pretty cool and very unique. I think it strayed too far from the formula I was used at the time to so it went on the back burner. I will get to it one of these days.

The style kind of reminds me of anime from the mid late 90's which totally rocks. I like the cel shaded graphics and the combat look rediculous.

It about freaking time. We had a massive four player cabnet of D&D Tower of Doom in our arcade. This was a high caliber beat'um up, four unique characters to play as, multiple path choices at the end of each level, consumable spells and potions. It looked and played like a dream. I didn't know there was a second game, hope they release them as a bundle.

My 10 Most Memorable Moments in Gaming (So far)

Off the top of my head (spoiler!) is in Chronotrigger when you face Lavos for the first time and Chrono gets vaporized. I was like holy crap he can't die, he's the main character. Shadow of the Collosus had another moment for me, when your jumping the pass into the area to fight the final collosus, and your horse bucks you off before falling into the ravine. It actually brought tears to my eyes.

If Sega had any brains they would hire these people or at least publish the game so it would still be under their name and make a comish. But in the end your dealing with lawyers and a bunch of know it all upper management types who are usually penny wise and dollar foolish. Since they altered it so much they should just rename it and put it back out.

Final Fantasy VII my favorite gaming moment, whats yours?

This game actually had a couple of WTF moments for me. Discovering that Cait Sith was a Shinra spy and of course the tragic death of Aeris. Also realizing that Cloud is a clone imprented with the memoroes of his best freind. And seeing Emerald weapon creeping aroundduring my first trip in the sub before I knew what he was, just knowing I should avoid him.  Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VI are at a dead tie for my favorite FF game. Seven is just oozing with atmospere though, something about the art style and the music it just realy draws me in like few games ever have.

Fresh games for the backlog...(sigh)...yeah...

I was glad to see it go back to it roots as a side scroller, but I was a bit unsure about the  cqc take on Samus fighting style. But I'm pretty open minded about it.
