Sonic's 20th Anniversary Special

Come celebrate Sonic's anniversary by sharing your memories of the series alongside the PixlBit staff!

Jason Ross' Memories

My Sonic story is pretty simple. I had an SNES, my neighbors had a Sega Genesis. I had Mario, they had Sonic. I first played Sonic 2 over there, where I insisted the second player could play as Tails even though they said they tried and it didn't work. My neighbor and I would play the game from time to time, and that's about it. Later on, I did get a Genesis alongside Sonic & Knuckles, which I used a Game Genie to manipulate and play as Super Sonic many, many times. I think I still remember one code I would use, which would let you turn into Super Sonic with no rings, though the transformation would only be momentary: CAG6-AANT. Don't ask me if my memory is correct about that or not...

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an entry in the Metroid Prime series - 18 years, in fact. It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
