Marvel's Spider-Man Review

Greetings True Believers!

Spider-Man is my favorite superhero, but his video game history has been a deep well of untapped potential. He’s had good games still worth playing today, yet he’s never had an entry on par with Batman’s excellent Arkham titles. Marvel’s Spider-Man is Insomniac’s attempt at elevating Spider-Man to the same level as Batman. While they do not quite reach that same quality standard, there is a solid foundation for Insomniac to build upon.

Ubisoft Announces Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Ay matey!

Following what has now become tradition, the yearly entry in the Assassin's Creed series is now coming to light. Officially announced by Ubisoft today for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be the next title in the annual series. While the game has been announced without details, leaked information and rumors have been swirling for days.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II Review

Is Tails the foil that accomplishes what Episode 1 couldn't, bringing Sonic back to his former splendor?

When Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I was released in 2010, it was meant to be a return to form for the blue blur, taking inspiration from the original Genesis titles. The results were mixed. So Sega went back to the drawing board for the next episode and fixed a few of the problems plaguing the first game. Although Ep. II evokes some of Sonic's previous glory, Sega still hasn't been able to fully capture the magic of the Genesis games, apparently content with yet another platformer that is only slightly above average in nearly every respect.

Capcom Announces Gyakuten Saiban 5

Also known as Ace Attorney 5.

Believe it or not, the Ace Attorney series has just turned 10 in Japan. To celebrate the anniversary, Capcom held an event in Japan where they announced their plans to produce the fifth mainline entry in the series. The company offered no information about the game, simply the logo and that production has begun. Platform, international release, and protagonist are all currently unknown.

360 Sees "Biggest Week in Xbox History"

A blog from Major Nelson announced the Microsoft console's Black Friday success.

Hot on the heels of Nintendo's Black Friday sales bulletin, Major Nelson released the news of an astounding performance by the Xbox 360. Nelson reports that over 960,000 Xbox 360 consoles were sold during Thanksgiving week, with over 800,000 of those 360s being sold on Black Friday, itself.

Sonic's 20th Anniversary Special

Come celebrate Sonic's anniversary by sharing your memories of the series alongside the PixlBit staff!

Earlier this year, on June 23, Sonic turned 20 years old. As a celebration of his legacy, Sega is releasing Sonic Generations today on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, with the 3DS version to follow later this month. The game celebrates the history of the franchise by joining old and new into one singular game that promises to mesh and meld all of what makes Sonic great. PixlBit's staff, growing up during the era of the blue blur, have fond memories of Sonic and his games and have come together to share their memories of the mascot.

Nintendo Sells 50 Million DS Systems in the US

Alongside the news, Nintendo revealed over half a million copies of Ocarina of Time 3D have been sold.

September was a big month for Nintendo in the US. How big? Nintendo moved nearly 650,000 pieces of hardware. The DS reached the major sales milestone of 50 million units in the US. The 3DS is selling better than ever, having sold 260,000 units last month, a number Nintendo suggests is a 10% increase over August. Perhaps the most shocking number is for the Wii. Without any major title releases or any major marketing push, the Wii sold 240,000 units in September. Click through to see more Nintendo sales figures for last month.
