Welcome to the last regular episode of Nerds Without Pants of 2014! Since it is our last opportunity to talk about what media we’ve been consuming until January, we get together and…not really talk much about video games. Huh. Well, it’s a show, anyway.
Apparently Mario and Zelda games sell really, really well.
Nintendo hasn’t been doing so well in the sales department lately. Wii sales are stagnant, the 3DS got off to a rough start and new titles have been few and far between for both systems. But even with all that considered, when things look bleak for Nintendo they can always count on Link and Mario to do some heavy lifting and they did just that this past “Black Friday” setting records along the way.
Now that turkey day is over, let the shopping spree begin.
If you haven't been paying attention, you might've missed the various deals that have been slowly leaking out over the course of November for today's big shopping day. Thankfully, we've kept track of everything and posted the deals along the way. For many, your shopping day has already started, but some of you may just be getting ready to brave the crowds. But today is Tuesday...
Running from November 22 to November 28, Microsoft has announced week-long Black Friday deals. A number of games and DLC are available at a discounted price. Along with the game deals, Microsoft is offering a 12-month Gold subscription for 33% off, or about $40. Origin is trying to appeal to Steam customers.
At 9 PM on November 24, 2011, Origin will be having a Black Friday sale. This is clearly an initiative to sway customers from Steam for the holiday. Here’s a few of the sales that EA has released:
The end of the week will bring big savings at these two department stores.
Sears' Black Friday deals will see the New Super Mario Bros Wii bundle at $134.99, a $15 discount. The 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle that's normally $300 will be discounted to $210 and the PS3 160GB bundled with Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One and Little Big Planet. Various other deals include many of the season's biggest games discounted to $39.99, including RAGE coming down to $29.99.

As Black Friday looms closer and closer, more retailers are revealing their special prices for the consumer holiday and Gamestop is no exception. A multi-page ad was released showing the savings they're going to have that range from $100 3DS bundles to $30 for RAGE.
