Bloodforge Review

Smooth combat is requisite for a brawler in 2012.

From the very first moments of the game, it’s made clear that Bloodforge is heavily inspired by the God of War series. So inspired that developer Climax Entertainment decided to crib a sizeable portion of that experience in order to create the Microsoft Studios published brawler. However, calling it derivative of the Sony series would be giving it too much credit. Copying only the most basic of elements from the popular series, Bloodforge is a one-dimensional game that won’t hold most gamers’ attention.

Closure Review

Getting stuck in this darkness will break you down with glimpses of scary hospitals, factories and circuses (oh my).

Closure has been haunting gamers since its release, and it’s easy to see why. A two dimensional, monochromatic platformer almost entirely shrouded in darkness, this game  has the ability to teach all of its players how to see the light.

Anomaly Warzone Earth Review

"Now I've often said "good news" when sending you on a mission of extreme danger; so when I say this anomaly is dangerous, you can imagine how dangerous I really think it is."

In the year 2018 a massive comet was approaching Earth and, as the world watched, suddenly broke into two pieces and impacted into Baghdad and Tokyo. Before anyone could begin disaster recovery each site was encased in massive energy domes that made any attempt at surveillance and analysis impossible. In order to determine what happened the Fourteenth Platoon is scrambled to investigate. Within minutes of approaching the dome it quickly becomes apparent the Earth has been invaded by aliens. Aliens who are hostile. Aliens who like to build towers.

Wheels of Destruction: World Tour Review

There’s almost nothing good in this Twisted Metal wannabe.

Following in the footsteps of Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8, Wheels of Destruction attempts to bring a fun, vehicle-driven car combat to PSN. As a budget downloadable title it seemed like Wheels of Destruction would be able to deliver, but the final product doesn’t have much to gloat about.

PB & Jason Issue 85: PB & Jason All-Stars Battle Royale!

Did Sony copy Nintendo's mascot fighter idea? Who cares?

The Sony fighter has been announced! Will it live up to its Nintendo counterpart? No one knows! That doesn't stop me from speculating. The important thing isn't whether or not it's a rip-off. What matters is that it's fun to play. Oh, right. I do talk about other things in this PB & Jason, I almost forgot. Remember Issue 84? In that issue, I talked a little bit about the fear of incentivizing game reviews on websites like Amazon.com with DLC. This week, I expand on the idea, presenting a few clearer reasons why such a thing could become harmful. I also discuss my take on the next-gen console rumors that they'll be made to prevent used games. You'll be surprised at the level of reason I can achieve when I can remain level-headed! You'll have to listen to learn the conclusion I draw, though. Click through for the download links!

In just one week, PC and Mac Portal 2 players will get the chance to build their own single and multiplayer puzzles using an in-game editor that will be added with the second batch of DLC, the “Perpetual Testing Initiative." Although there is no word yet on this DLC coming to consoles, the fact that this update comes in the form of an in-game editor should provide some level of optimism for console supporters.
