Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition Review

Pretty sure they’re not going to do an Arcade or Ultra edition next.

Since they’ve hit the scene, I think I’ve built up something of a love affair with indie developer, Drinkbox Studios. They have an uncanny ability to create not only compelling gameplay, but memorable and humorous worlds and characters. Guacamelee is easily their greatest achievement yet, and the new Super Turbo Championship Edition only makes it better. Just the name alone should give you a perfect indication of the tongue-in-cheek humor Drinkbox imbues into their creations.

Nerds Without Pants Episode 49: Who Watches the Watch Dogs?

Hack the planet!

It’s an episode of Nerds Without Pants 8 months in the making! Watch Dogs is the impetus for this very thoughtful discussion about our addiction to technology, the insidious way that we are expected to share everything about our lives, the intrusive NSA, and more. But first, Consumption Junction!

Secrets of Raetikon Review

Effortless beauty, meaningless confusion.

Exhilarating yet tedious, beautiful in a construction paper sort of way, and most of all both ingenious and boring, Secrets of Raetikon is a perfect example of the general state of indie games – inspired, but poorly crafted.  I went into this work with no expectations, and no clue what it was, and for the most part, I was impressed and thrilled with what I played.  But it’s a far from perfect game, with a pretty crappy ending, and play that can be both really fun and totally infuriating.

Ram Racing Review

Need for sleep.

This review is part of the 2014 Sh*tty Game Review Fest - read about the event here.

Believe it or not, the Dodge Ram license is the least offensively bad part of this bargain bin shovelware detritus that came out on Wii a few years ago. I'll grant that it's a fairly novel way to grab the attention of the idiot masses, and it's never been done before. Now that the good aspects are covered, it's all downhill from here.

Child of Light Review

Sparkle and fade.

Child of Light is the video game equivalent of a children’s bedtime storybook. It’s full of beautiful artwork and whimsical characters. It lights a spark and captures your imagination. Then it starts to put you to sleep.

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace Review

Fun, but forgettable.

Going into Ragnarok Odyssey ACE I was excited. To find out that the game was a spin-off of the one MMORPG that I actually was fully engrossed in for a period of time was a treat. Though this game and Ragnarok Online are indeed very different, the similarities and shared aspects were apparent from the get go. However, while I enjoyed those aspects, I may have been better off getting the Playstation Vita version.

Backloggers Anonymous Final Fantasy X Part 1

Super reductive description of this game: bros, babes, Bermuda shorts.

It's time for another three parter here at Backloggers Anonymous! Angelo is joined by Jaime and Julian to talk about a pretty big game that two thirds of the cast have never played: Final Fantasy X. Now, after a three hour FF episode of Nerds Without Pants you might think that Julian doesn't have much more to say about fantasies that are final, but you would be wrong. Seriously, we can't get this guy to shut up!

Nerds Without Pants Episode 45: Two Nerds, No Topic

Where we talk about stuff. And things.

We're a man down this time, so listen to Julian and Patrick talk about a bunch of stuff that nerds who do not wear pants would talk about. What are those things? Good question?
