Pixlbit Nation how are you folks doing today? How was your July 4th? Anything fun happen? I spent time with the family, ate some cow, and watch TV. Yup there was a lot going on. My neighbors had a quiet time with a few fireworks and then the geniuses across the street in the other community decided to shoot their guns in the air. Yes these folks don’t understand how gravity works and those rounds they are firing will come down.

There were a couple of sporting events I was watching yesterday like the Tour de France, the end of a NASCAR race (seriously it was like 2am on the East Coast, why was this race still going on? Also that was one crazy crash at the end of the race) but the only event I was waiting for was USWNT vs. Japan.

Can we please call Carli Lloyd “Big Game Carli” because all she does is kick ass in these events. A hat trick in 15 minutes including a shot from midfield that was video game worthy. The game was done after that. It was good to see the offense finally kick in when it mattered the most and the third star unveiling is happening today. Thank goodness I didn’t pull the trigger on buying a WNT jersey a couple of days ago (they make them in men’s cut) and I’ll be buying this shirt

The best part about the win was the fact that the president of FIFA didn’t show up (punk move), and the Robert Palmer girls were the ones bringing out the medals to the post game ceremony

USA! USA! USA! I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!

$5 Hour: Ghost Squad Wii ($2.70 Used GameStop)

For this week’s $5 Hour game, I went with the game I’ve been playing off and on for a couple of weeks during lunch. It’s quick and there really isn’t a story that I have to follow along with because it’s an arcade shooter plus I get to use the gun attachment.

Plot: You are part of a team that goes into various missions of rescuing folks, taking down bad guys, etc. Through certain points you have to choose a path, and I think each path ends up at the same part of the storyline.

Gameplay: Nothing really big here, you use the Wii as a gun. I have a gun attachment so it makes things easier. Bad guys come out, you shoot, rinse repeat.

After The Hour: I think this game is a steal for under $3 bucks. It’s a fun arcade shooter in your own home with a big screen to shoot at. What possible can be the negative for this? I can play in short bursts, and it is a lot of fun. If you have a Wii and $3 bucks burning a hole in your pocket give it a try.

 Games I Played

Batman Arkham Knight – PS4: So I saved the Riddler side mission for last it was a good thing because the last two puzzles I finished on the first try. Ok the second puzzle isn’t technically over because now I have to go hunt down all the riddles and trophies. I thought this was a perfect time to take a break before Batman Burnout kicks in, so I will save the puzzles for that adrenaline rush after playing the DLC. So when a new piece of DLC is released, I’ll take in a couple of Riddler’s. I’ll probably tackle the in game packaged stuff like Harley Quinn and Scarecrow Nightmare Missions in a week.

NBA 2K15 – PS4: So after getting to the point where I secured a spot in the playoffs, and met the Owner’s goals, I simmed the rest of the season, and playoffs. The Milwaukee Bucks forced a game 7 before losing and being bounced out of the playoffs. The eventual champion was the Chicago Bulls. I was excited because I finally get to tackle the NBA Draft

For my first pick I drafted Jahil Okafor C Duke, the next pick was Myles Turner C Texas, and my third and final Lottery Pick was Frank Kaminsky C Wisconsin. You’re wondering why blow three picks on one position, and I ended up trading Kaminsky to the Boston Celtics for their number 1 and a number 1 next year in which I picked up a Power Forward. Eventually I want a twin towers thing going with Turner and Okafor but right now Turner is the 2nd team Center that works. In this second season I didn’t keep enough cash for the coaching staff so Jason Kidd left, but I hired some up and coming guy and started off 7-0 before losing to Portland in overtime. I have a lot of cap room to re-sign my core group of players in the coming seasons.

Driveclub – PS4: I took in another group of races. I wonder what is the difference between the PS+ version and the physical copy.

The Crew - PS4: I unclocked a couple of races in two new cities, and I took part in a crew mission. To the kid who invited me and then tried to knock me out of the race, sorry for taking you out of your own mission, but that's what you get for trying to crash me on a turn. This game reminds me a lot of the first Midnight Club and the only thing that bugs me is the long drives in between major cities.

Grid – XBox 360: I haven’t fired up my 360 in ages so I played a couple of games. I forgot how much fun this racing game is. I’m currently finishing up the European leg of my career and my teammate is dead weight. He doesn’t do much other than cost my race team Effin Fast a lot of sponsorship money.

Hydro Thunder – XBox 360: I forgot how much fun this game is as well. I think I spent more time playing this than Grid. I never noticed that this game and the Riptide Game I played a ton of on the iPad/Nexus 7 is the same company. Anyways I played through a couple of races and unlocked the pro races and boats. I’ll check back in with it from time to time.

Alpha Omega – iPad: This has become my replacement to Flow, the dot game I was obsessed with a month ago. I’ve been playing a puzzle or two before bed trying to figure out the words, and now there is a blank tile thrown into the mix that is supposed to separate two word answers.

Spider-man Unlimited / Injustice – iPad

To celebrate the 4th of July both games had special promotions

Yes for $4 you can get a special Spider-man…nah I’m good

And double XP which I forgot to fully take advantage of which really sucks.

Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad: The Tapball game is still going on and somehow my team lost a game. For the 4th there was a special character and building

Good ol’ Richard Nixon and the Watergate Hotel (I really need to check out his Presidential Library. Funny how while working for Disney I lived like maybe 15 minutes from there and never visited)

There was no point in this but I thought it was funny to get the entire town to take part in one of the jobs

Alright Pixlbit we shall end our conversation here. I’ve got some things to do, and I need to catch up on some blogs I’ve missed over the past couple of days. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

Carli Loyd is awesome, as  was that game. It's like they decided more Americans would watch a high-scoring soccer game. I am actually going through the Story+ of Arkham Knight. Finally got all the Riddler trophies and 100% game completion on Saturday.

The PS+ version of Driveclub is basically a demo. If I want to unlock most of the cars, tracks, or even rematch you in that challenge I sent you, it asks me to buy the full game.

I like how Carli shows up during big games. Kind of like Robert Horry in the NBA a while ago where all he did was hit big shots in the playoffs.

That sucks about Driveclub on PS+. When that game was announced it sounded like you were getting the single player for free, kind of like how Starhawk single player was free on the PS+ but multiplayer needed to be purchased.

There's all this stuff burried in the mountain of Wii shovel ware that's actually decent. So hard to find the good ones.

Oh there are a ton of crap on the Wii, and I probably bought some but yeah there are some really good stuff hidden, you just have to dig a bit.

I wasn't able to watch any of the World Cup games between not having cable and working, so that was a little disappointing. I can't complain too much, because I got to go to four games back in 2003, and watched the US team knock the Norwegian team out of the running (and, unfortunately, out of the Olympics, as well). Mia Hamm was amazing, you always knew where she was on the field because there was this wave of sound that followed her wherever she was. It was also Abby Wambach's first year on the team, so that was really cool, too.

That sucks about not being able to watch it, but its really cool you got to see the 03 squad live. I never got a chance to see the women's team, but I did get to watch the men's team in college.

All my nieces got 2003 Women's World Cup merchandise for Christmas that year, lol.
