Happy Friday Pixlpeeps! It is the day before Halloween and I have decided to not carve a pumpkin this year. I like creating a design and then carving it but the clean up and having to gut the dang thing really sucks. So are you folks dressing up for Halloween? I’m going to do my usual of wearing a jersey and calling it a day, besides I hand out candy, make sure random little kids don’t walk into the house (this happened one year, when a kid knocked and then walked past me turned around and waited for candy. He had to have been maybe 3 and his parents got a kick out of it). Speaking of candy I really should go buy candy. That’s another thing I should have done while at Target a couple of days ago. Anyways lets’ get started with another Quick Hits with Chris!

Chris’ Rules for Trick or Treaters

  1. If your age ends in “teen” you can buy your own candy. 1 small piece of candy
  2. If your child is under 1, they don’t need candy, they need teeth. We all know the parents are going to eat the candy. 1 small piece of candy…or a box of raisins
  3. If a kid makes a rude comment about my jersey 1 small piece of candy, and a handful of candy to the kid next to them.
  4. Little kids get a handful of candy. Its like winning the lottery to them
  5. Older kids who don’t say Trick or Treat, one piece of candy. You know the rules this is how you earn candy

Chris Watches…

So this was the big pay per view last week so of course I watched because it’s on the WWE Network.

Kickoff Match: Cesaro/Neville/Ziggler vs. Rusev/Barrett/Shaemus: I think the WWE is going to combine Rusev, Barrett, Shaemus into a faction and it could work. All three can be strong heels. Cesaro was the bright spot for the other team. I don’t care for Ziggler, and hopefully at some point Neville gets a good storyline.

Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio: Del Rio is back and I went nuts like a fan. Watching older WWE episodes of Raw and PPV’s I grew to appreciate Del Rio. I knew he was going to win because Cena was going to take a break until after Christmas and they needed to drop the belt to someone who would be there. The Del Rio & Zeb Coulter team up is odd but whatever, we got a good wrestler back in WWE

Reigns vs. Wyatt: I was shocked that this match was actually good. Lots of action, including the use of tables, kendo sticks, and chairs inside the steel cage. I don’t get what’s going on with Wyatt. He’s supposed to be this big scary guy but once Pay Per Views roll around he loses a lot.

New Day vs. Dudley Boyz: I used to be a big fan of the Dudley’s but now not so much. I like New Day more for their antics but their in ring performance is solid.

Charlotte (WOOOOO) vs. Nikki Bella: The match was actually good. I think the fans need to calm down with the “We Want Sasha” chants especially with both wrestlers put on a solid product. If the WWE continued to have solid Women’s matches, and get rid of the stupid Divas Division and belt and go back to a Women’s Division, with a normal belt, the main roster fans will appreciate the product.

Rollins vs. Kane: This is easily a throwaway match and storyline which is a shame because this match was for the World Heavyweight Championship. The US Title had more interest.

Owens vs. Rybeck for the Intercontinental Title: Why is this match after a World Title match? I didn’t care for this match. It lacked interest, and I think I ended up playing a game on my iPad during this match. WWE needs to bring in Sami Zayn so we can have a good rivalry match between Owens and Zayn.

Lesnar vs. Undertaker: This was easily one if not the best match of the night. I don’t get how Brock always gets cut in his matches but yet during every other match dude is bleeding. I don’t know if he’s cutting or it’s a legit injury but there was blood. At the end after the match ended the Wyatt family jumps Taker, and carries him back to the locker room. I guess this is the new/rehashed storyline for Taker’s last year.

WWE Breaking Ground: This is the WWE’s version of Hard Knocks where you follow wrestlers from NXT. I found it really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes and I can’t wait to see where they take this show. WWE posted the first episode online

Green Batman (Arrow): This is what bugs me about this show. If Green Batman is supposed to be a secretive super hero, why does he bring the chief of Police to his new hideout, and why does Felicity tell her coworker at Palmer Industries that she works with Green Batman? Also why does Diggle’s head gear look like what Magneto wears?

Agents of SHIELD: Black Bars because of Spoilers

First off I really liked the approach to this episode because it is so different from regular SHIELD episodes. Instead of having Simmons talk about her experiences, you see what actually happened on that planet, her crazy battery life on her phone, and how she met someone (Fitz is mayor of Friendzone in two different galaxies). I think everyone had an idea that she hooked up with someone when in last episode she wanted to go back.

I have a new theory about Quantico but I’m waiting to see how this week’s episode plays out before I share my new theory. I am also saving Supergirl to watch later on today. I did see the first five minutes and nice use of Dean Cain CBS. All you need to do is get Brandon Routh, and Tom Welling to show up.

Chris Listens To…

I’m currently listening to Billy Joel’s Songs In the Attic and finishing off my August Pickups Playlist today.

I’ve been slacking a bit but it has picked up earlier this week. The September playlist isn’t as long but October is going to be a doozy because of all those Greatest Hits albums from Google Play.

I tried a new podcast from Katie Nolan called The Garbage Time Podcast. It’s basically a sports podcast from her view along with a guest she interviews. It’s not bad so I’ll probably keep it in the rotation. Another new podcast I’m trying out is the Reasonable Doubt Podcast with Adam Carolla and Mark Geragos where they talk about current events and law. So far this one isn’t bad because I liked when Geragos would visit the Carolla Show.

Chris Reads…

I still haven’t cracked open a book this year, which sucks but I further upgraded my comic book reading by purchasing the full version of the Comic Rack App and I have been reading Year Two of Injustice. I’m trying to catch up to the recent issue and its an interesting storyline, and to see how the Superheroes are trying to figure out what side they are on. As for the app I wish it would just import my rankings and settings from the free version. I did the dance of looking for my SD card in the app's file system and I had to quickly skim through read books just to rate them again. It took a couple of minutes but everything is setup the way I want. Also why is the interface a bit different from the freebie version?

Chris Takes Pictures…

Sorry folks no pictures this week. I haven’t had time to go roaming around. Next week there will be some pictures.

Randoms

Hey the Aztecs made the ESPN College Pick’em.

I’m currently sitting in 9th out of 40 something people. I was at 6th but last week was disastrous because teams I thought would win decided to suck. This evens out a couple of weeks ago when I picked all the upsets. As for the game itself, the Aztecs rushed for 360+ yards against one of the top Rush Defenses in the Nation, and I think CSU is ranked in the 100s in that stat, but they have a solid Wide Receiver

SDSU Finally names the court at Viejas Arena after Steve Fisher. It is about time, and I hope they also add a statue in front. He built the basketball program from a 4 win team, to a team that has spent more than a decade winning 20+ games a year, a couple of Sweet Sixteens, a guy named Kawhi Leonard, a new practice facility and one of the top student sections in the country. I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!

So a Carl’s Jr. opened up in the shopping center down the street a month ago. This is usually good news but their service is so terrible that I am going to avoid this spot. One time we went to order at the drive thru and the employees were straight having a conversation while I was placing my order. The order was wrong, and it was like they didn’t care. A couple of nights ago I went back and once again my order was wrong. Seriously you’re not busy, how hard is it to not put pickles and tomatoes on a freaking burger? The best part was they told me I needed to park in the front because the fried zucchini wasn’t wasn’t ready. The minute I rolled to the parking lot the guy with my food was standing out there. I’m sticking with McDonalds, and the local Mexican Food spots for close by food options.

Pickups

Games

After hitting up a new spot for lunch in another town I visited their Target and they still had their bin of $5.06 games. This was the place I bought a couple of 3DS and DS games. This time they added more games including PS3, WiiU, Wii, and 360. I spent some time looking though this bin and I found some cool stuff

I like how Wolfenstein went from Clearance endcap to $5.06 bin. There were also a couple of Vita games in the bin but it turns out I already own them. This Target was also blowing out this game for $10

I heard it wasn’t great, and the new AC game was being released a couple of days later, so why not add it to the library.

At Walmart down the street from my house someone placed the next installment of Lego Dimensions Fun Packs on the floor. I picked up Bart Simpson and this guy

Now I can open all the items that are gold. Anyways during checkout the Bart Simpson had the “Can’t be sold” message on the register. The employee tried to override it, got her manager who also tried and then said they couldn’t break street date. I figured as much but it was worth a try to get Bart a week early.

*I just finished Toys in the Attic and that was a good CD. Normally I’m not a fan of live CDs but that was a solid album.

Music

I went to the local mom & pop last week, found a handful of stuff and then forgot to take pictures of it before adding it to the iTunes Library.

Again more stuff to fill holes in various playlists. The main reason for Twister was for Goo Goo Dolls’ Long Way Down Remix, which just sounds like a shorter version than the album version. Good thing I found a couple of other songs I really liked on the album. For some reason R. Kelly’s Disc 1 of Chocolate Factory won’t rip. The disc is flawless but my CD drive just can’t read it. I might have to rip it on another computer and then copy the files over.

I added two new CDs to the library as well

I like Carrie Underwood, but this album is just ok. I might have to give it another listen but there wasn’t any song that stuck out to me. I like Penatonix’s covers and I like their version of Cheerleader more than the original. I actually thought the original was Hawaiian song because the only radio I listen to is the morning show in Hawaii and they always play it. Anyways the album isn’t bad and the Target version includes a couple of live versions of covers.

Toys

These were found at the local Walmart. It looks like some 2016 cars made their way into the bins because I had problems buying these cars too. They wouldn’t scan so after talking to the manager the employee just keyed in the price

The white version of the Fast and Furious car, except this one is just the regular body with a different paint job. I’m excited to get the Batman Superman Batmobile.

These cars are going to my cousin. I know he’ll get a kick out of the truck and the hot rod looks cool.

I still can’t run into the Homer Simpson car and the flying DeLorean. I did find a complete run of camo cars. This Walmart just dumps all the cars into bins, and leaves the older cars on the pegboards. I’m not complaining because this way I get to find the cars I like.

Alright Pixlbit I am off. I don’t think I slept right because my back is a little sore so I’ll probably go walk around for a bit. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

For this week’s song I decided to go with an old favorite that was used last year during the SDSU Baseball Halloween Game. Every year the baseball team has an inter squad game where everyone dresses up. It even made Sports Center one year.

Hahaha, I actually didn't stick to the one about teens. A couple of younger teens came by and I gave them a handful of candy. I only had 10 people show up this year, which is 10 more than last year.

1. My age ends in "five," so I'm good there.

2. Aw c'mon man, they got enough shit to deal with given the almost-toddler.

3. If he wears an Eagles jersey, he gets a rock. I don't think that's mean, it's just the way Phili sports fans greet out-of-towners. Tell the parents you're respecting their culture.

4. Agreed

5. One of them knows karate and will say "smell my feet bitch! because his parents are Eagles fans and don't teach respect. Be careful.

I really want a 3DS so I can play DS games and all the new stuff on it too.

I wrote on Snee's comment that I didn't stick with one of my rules. A couple of teens showed up so I gave them a hand ful of candy. I didn't have a lot of kids visit and I had a bunch of candy so everyone got handfuls.

The 3DS is a nice handheld, plus GameStop has a bunch of DS games for under $10 and many solid games for 1-5 bucks.

I'm giving out little bags of Cheetos to the kids this year, as I usually do every year.  You'd think the kids would be upset about not getting actual candy, but they get all excited over Cheetos.  They're all like, "Wow!  You got Cheetos?  Cool!  I'm packing this in my school lunch tomorrow!"

One year I gave out granola bars and I thought the kids would be so mad that they'd egg my house.  But nope, they were happy and excited to get granola bars, too!  Sometimes kids can be unpredictable!

Cheetos are awesome, I'd be excited for that than the fun size candy bars. I think kids like getting different stuff...except apples and rasins. I grew up in a small town and a couple of houses handed those out. The best thing I got by far was the lady who made popcorn balls. Those were awesome!

Pizza. Everyone gets pizza.

I added Syndicate to my list this week. That's a Starbreeze game I didn't know about. Gotta try it.

I bought Syndicate. I had to keep telling the Gamestopers that it wasn't Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.
