Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a gloomy with a little bit of rain morning here in what is usually sunny Southern California. The weather is perfect for soup and maybe actual hot coffee but I'm going to enjoy some ice cold water until I decide if I want to venture out and grab some donuts. So how is your weekend? I know you still want to talk Nintendo Switch (I'm kidding). Yes I'm glad Nintendo has their new product announced and we all have our opinions on it, but I'm going to wait a bit until more info is thrown out.

As for my weekend, in a nutshell has been erase, download, install, play, rinse, repeat. Let's start with the big one

Grand Theft Auto V – PC

Last week I had a problem with the Eye in the Sky mission. Turns out everyone on PC had a problem with this mission. The glitch was the people you're supposed to scan never appear on screen. The fix was simple: reinstall the game. Yep all 80 GB. After trying various things like kill off the character so I can force the game to go to skip section, it still wouldn't work, so three hours later I had a fresh install.

I finished the mission, all was good, and I was happy. The only problem I had at this point was that I needed to exit the game, and restart it to have the next mission's icons pop up. Not a big deal considering I really don't play more than one or two missions per sitting. The next glitch I encountered is pretty darn big: the whole desert section by the lake was missing. Yeah at some points particularly where Trevor's trailer should be is a massive sink hole. I wish I could screen shot this but in the wisdom of Rockstar, there is no screen shots. Hopefully right before lunch the game will be finished downloading and I can see what other corrupt files I have from Rockstar. You would think that downloading a game straight from the developers would give you a perfect copy.

I can't wait to get back to roaming around and using the Samsung Note7 Sticky Bomb mod

Easily one of my favorite things in the game.

When not wondering why my copy of GTA V doesn't work I've been hooked on this game all weekend

Animation Throwdown – iOS

Animation Throwdown is a card game that uses the Fox lineup of animated characters (no Simpsons) in a fun card battle game where you basically play the computer.

You have a deck of 25 cards, that you can upgrade, tinker with, do whatever and you bring them into battle against the AI. Sounds like your typical card game? Well it is, there's nothing special about this one, but I am having a lot of fun. In Adventure you take on three characters from a particular show in each level. After each victory you are awarded coins that could be used in the store, and sometimes experience points, and other goodies like cards. As you continue to battle each character they get tougher but the awards get better. In Arena mode, this is supposed to be PvP but its the computer playing with a player's created deck. This one gives you more coins but no XP.

There are monthly challenges where you play for special currency that can be used in the Challenges Rewards section. It's basically a smaller version of the actual in game store. There is also a Research section where you can combine two cards to see what they can create as a group.

This is a freemium game there are the usual gems that are hard to come by unless you want to spend real money, and special offers where you get a bunch of bonuses for only $10

You are limited by how many times you can play Arena (10 matches before you need to let the game recharge) as well as the Adventure/and Challenge Mode. The one big problem with this is that the recharging takes forever, and again if the developers would have charged $5 for the game I would have paid that just to play whenever I wanted and not have to be always connected to the internet. If you like card games, Fox Animation, and a willingness to grind to upgrade decks, give this game a try. Also if you hit your local GameStop they have free cards that give you an in game boost.

The final game I played happened when I was cleaning out my Asus Memo Pad 8. Apparently I had over a GB of dead files so while I was waiting for the tablet to clean itself I was browsing through my library of games, erasing the ones I don't play, and checking out the store and I discovered this game

Xenowerk – Android

From the description Xenowerk is like a cross between Smash TV on the NES and Dead Space. When I started the game up it plays a lot like Alien Syndrome on the PSP where you run around shooting at space monsters, completing objectives and moving on to the next stage.

There are a ton of weapon and protective suits to choose from and they unlock with how many radiation icons you collection. Each level you have the ability to earn three radiation icons based on completing objectives, killing off all the bad guys and and other fun stuff.

The controls can get wonky at times especially when I am at the control panel buying upgrades before the mission. It seems like the touch screen doesn't want to work. Also since there are no real buttons, sometimes I lose control of my character because my thumb moved too far away from the control section.

The maps are a good size, with a lot of enemies to take out. At times it feels repetitive because you run shoot, collect, shoot some more, repeat, but I don't expect a lot of variety from a freebie game. I believe there are five or six main sections with each section having 10-20 levels. I finished one section in one sitting and the second section doubled the levels from 10 to 20. I wonder if this is the case for all the sections because that should be fun. Anyways Xenowerk is a fun game, the levels can be short, especially if you just want to accomplish the one main objective in each level.

As I check GTA V I have a little under 3 hours left before install is completed. I'm going to get some donuts so I'm ending our little talk here. Have a good week!

That's all for now, more later!

man my roommates in new york used to play SmashTV on some gamecube version like... endleslly.  I was never into those but I do have to admit they can be fun to watch -- to a point.

I'm thinking of getting a Razer blade stealth as my computer.  It's not a gaming computer, but it's a pretty good ultrabook, and then you can get the docking station to turn it into a gaming computer for cheaper than a separate computer.  Haven't decided for sure, but might pull the trigger tonight.

That's a nice laptop. That's the one where you can buy a case for a graphics card right? You should be able to get a lot of writing...and gaming done on that bad boy. Congrats!

Smash TV was such a fun game on the NES. I wish I had a second NES Advantage so I could use the joysticks instead of the d-pads.

Tablets have some cool stuff. I just can't justify the expense at the moment, plus I don't think I'd have much time for it. One day, though.

I love tablets especially when I'm sitting on the couch watching TV and I want to check something out online...or read Twitter. When you do get a tablet I'm sure you're going to enjoy the games you can play.

I suppose if I get through all my backlog, I'd think about a tablet to game at home after work. That backlog is pretty long though.
