Day 14 Song 14

Nu Shooz – I Can't Wait

I love this song because it is a flashback to younger Chris listening to the radio. Before I had a Walkman I had a little Radio Shack pocket radio that was just a speaker and an AM/FM tuner. I really had no favorite bands or artists. I liked songs, so it was perfect for me to just have a radio. This song shows its age with the dated 80s sound but that electronic bass line at the beginning, to that full electronic sound always gets me. It's a fun flashback to when I was younger and it has the beat that you can move to. Love this song.

That's all for now, more tomorrow!

I loved when i only had the radio in my room, we didn't have cable and i generally didn't have to know what bands looked like. I knew a few band names, but like you i just enjoyed songs.

I am digging the song today as well. Don't think I've ever heard it the whole way through, yet it sounds familiar. Not sure I've heard anything but the instrumental part that sounds like "oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh."

I know Target used it for one of their commercials awhile back. I dig that part of the song too. I wonder what sound they used on their keyboard.

I found a decent sounding remixed version when I tried to find the Target ad on YouTube.

Yeah that's the one. I didn't realized it was sped up a bit.

Right now, listening to music from 1968, I'm just starting to hear the use of electronic sounds. I guess it's logical that in a decade or so, those sounds completely took over.

It was the new sound so eventually it would be everywhere. Kind of like how everyone went auto tune crazy a couple of years ago.

Yea, the auto tune was like a joke a little while ago, and now it's everywhere and no one jokes about it anymore.

I remember buying my first tape player when I was a kid.  Wasn't a walkman, I got one of those later.  But the first tape I ever bought was the beach boys greatest hits.  I recall doing yard work in the backyard and just listening to that tape over and over.

What I always dug about certain tape players was their ability to constantly play an entire cassette without stopping. I do miss Walkmans.
