Good morning Pixlpeeps and happy Friday! I have to say this week went by fast and even though my little piece of Southern California was teased with more rain, we didn't get a drop but the temperatures dropped from being 15 degrees over normal, to a more manageable below normal temperatures. Most likely it will go back up after this weekend but I'm not ready to get back to the summer heat. Anyways how are you good people? Anything fun planned this weekend? Let's get started with this week's Quick Hits!

Chris Watches...

Iron Fist – Netflix

So stop me if you heard this plot: character loses parents, goes missing, learns ancient ways, comes back to modern world, leads company by day, fights crime by night

From someone who calls Arrow “Green Batman” this is what I thought after the first episode. Now you comic book folks relax. Many of the offerings that Marvel and DC release on TV and in the theaters are geared for folks who don't know much about the characters (usually having the origin stories sprinkled into the film) before all the action gets good. This is geared to folks like myself. I never read the comics, and I know these characters because maybe from a random comic book I may have read, TV, and in this case Netflix hype. As you can see my first thoughts were hey Marvel has fake Oliver Queen. Just like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and I presume Luke Cage the pacing is incredibly slow until the middle of the season when things seem to pick up.

I am currently in the middle of episode 6 and things are getting good. Unlike the two I am currently watching/watched story wise this isn't as dark and more along the lines of what I am used to seeing on network television. At times I found Danny to be a bit annoying, but not as much as Ward, which means he's probably doing something right, because I'm supposed to root for the good guy, right? This is kind of like Season 1 of Arrow (I'm waiting for Iron Fist to find his Diggle). Unlike Arrow Season 1,the drawbacks for this show is that the plot seems like a mess, there is no character that I want to root for other than Colleen, and please pick up the pacing.

The one thing I like about the Marvel Universe is that everything is connected, of course while watching this current episode I got a little frustrated when Danny needed some help. Hey you know a certain Lawyer who likes to mix it up at night, have him get into contact with Danny.

When the four characters get together this should be a fun mini series. I like to joke with my friend that New York has Spider-Man, who watches over the city, and these four who seemingly patrol one borough. How violent is this one area? Anyways make up your own mind about Iron Fist. It's not the best but its entertaining, since I have an idea of who the four characters are I want to check out Defenders whenever that will be released. As for Iron Fist, check it out for yourself. Don't listen to the main actor playing the blame game on ratings because of the president. Watch the show yourself and see if its worth watching.

Green Batman – CW

I missed last week's episode but I'm back this week and hot damn, it got really dark. The season finale should be really good because that buildup leading to it is fun to watch. Again its borrowing heavly from the last Batman Trilogy but I'm ok with it.

The Challenge: Invasion – MTV

This show is hilarious right now. On one side you have this clique of girls who act like The Mean Girls and on one hand spread rumors, and talk sh*t about the others on the show and think its funny. Then when the vets play a little prank on them like taking their toilet seat, placing it on a pool float and pushing it into waters that may have alligators, and the Champion girls place potato chips in their bed all of a sudden everyone else needs to grow up. Ummm the hypocrisy is real with these folks. MTV is teasing a big fight between them which should be a lot of fun.

As for other shows I didn't watch the big musical episode of Supergirl and Flash, I haven't watched Supergirl in a couple of episodes, and I also skipped The Voice to check out Dancing With The Stars.

Chris Finishes A Book

Goodreads says I have read five books, but it doesn't count another book I read so technically I am at 6 and the halfway mark for my book a month goal.

As for Seabiscuit it is amazing how this story happened in real life. This is by far the perfect story for Hollywood and I want to watch the movie now. This was a fun read because every time you thing things are going well, something happens and you're back at trying to climb out of that hole. It's amazing that it wasn't made into a movie earlier.

I am currently reading Steve Jobs by Walter Issacson, which I started a year ago but never finished, The Economic Consequences of the Peace by John Maynard Keynes, and to see what its all about I have the 2018 White House Budget Blueprint. The latter two live on both the iPad and Phone.

Chris Listens To...

Other than the Steve Jobs Audiobook, I've been on a tear listening to new music. I added 28 mixtapes from a night when I decided that I should add more to the unplayed playlist. I've gone through most of it except for maybe 14 albums but I've gone through parts of those because of either iTunes being on shuffle or I just wanted to make sure the tracks didn't have the DJ yelling their name out in the beginning*

*This is what I hate the most about mixtapes, especially older mixtapes. You have a DJ yelling out their name, the track name, or other foolishness right before they hit the post. It's annoying. I like it when radio DJs do it but not on a mixtape. I understand that this is to show that they are the ones breaking new music but at the same time you already threw the new music out first so why do it?

Going back to my goal of listening to everything in my library, I am actually ahead of my goal of listening to 50 new tracks a day. Over the past week and a half I have listened to 88 tracks a day and I've listened to so much this past week, on my daily chart I am a couple of days ahead (when I hit 88 tracks, I write down how many songs are left and how many tracks from that point I've listened to.) If you look at my 50 goals a day I am probably a week ahead of schedule and I already surpassed my goal of 1,550 tracks for the month. I'm somewhere in the 1,800s and will pass 2,000 by next week. Over the past week I listened to 718 tracks and I currently I am at 7,528 unplayed tracks in my zero played playlist.

Later on today I am going to visit the local mom & pop shop and hopefully this week I find some new stuff. Last week I went and I didn't find anything new in the used section. Hopefully some folks sold some stuff in this week.

Pickups!

Games

One game this week and it was from a 24 hour sale on BundleStars

I wanted to pick this up a couple of times it hit $10 but I didn't but drop it down to $9 I jumped. Who knew the difference of a dollar could do that. Anyways I haven't played much, just one tower but I will get some play time in this weekend. FINISH HIM!

Music

Other than 28 mixtapes no new CDs. Once I finish the remaining mixtapes I will check out some newer stuff to see if I can find some new rappers I like instead of writing off this era of music (there is so much trash being released, but that's my opinion)

TV

Freebie from Google Play

This was a random freebie that showed up on Google Play. How do you not add Season 5 of GoT to your library regardless if its SD? Free is Free.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off to do a bit of organizing on my external hard drives before I head out for the day. That's a fun way to start the weekend. Anyways have a good weekend!

That's all for now, more later!

-Chris

For song of the week here is one that came out I think when I was in high school, and was used more recently in some viral video about people doing the running man, and most likely Target probably used it as well. I don't know what happened but when my phone was on shuffle it came on, and quickly became stuck in my head

This song reminds me of the spring, and going into summer getting ready to get my behind moved into college. Funny thing is I never bought the CD single, and usually if a song stuck out to me I would spend the $3 for a single.

Iron Fist looking for his Diggle, eh? Maybe his mask doesn't fit right?

So far at episode 6 no mask, but he sure likes to talk about his Iron Fistness. He needs a Diggle to keep him in check.

I looked up the Diggle. Interesting. Now I understand.

Iron Fist may have been a flop but I bet the defenders is cool.  I just have to finish Daredevil season one now! Tongue Out

Oh Daredevil gets so good towards the end of Season 1. Season 2 I'm still working on. Jessica Jones just lags, and I haven't checked out Luke Cage yet. Hopefully when they combine Defenders will be a cool show.
