So I've been busy all day, a mix of playing some games, and sorting through my digital hoarding pile. Yeah so in the past I've said I'm a casual digital hoarder in that I like to keep random files, programs, and other digital goodies that I've collected for years. I have old (I mean OLD) papers and graphics projects from college still on some old CD-R's and now on a couple of external drives. One drive is for photos and video that I've taken...and some of my favorite memes from Reddit. The other drive is all documents, programs, zip files, and the like. When I wasn't playing some random PC game earlier today I was moving files from my laptop (and the laptop external drive) to the documents drive as well as pulling items off that drive to add to my laptop.

My goal for my laptop's external drive is to have an all in one media hub with my laptop. It's kinda nerdy but when I go on a trip I would like to be able to have all my media in one place. I'll keep you updated (yes I hear the sigh)

Ok so other than mess I'm tackling there really hasn't been much going here. The second weekend of Coachella came and went and now we are in Stagecoach weekend which is basically the country music version of Coachella. Instead of having a lot of cars painted with Carpoolchella, RV's are rolling in, and everyone is in Cowboy boots.

I haven't watched much TV this week. Arrow has been disappointing, and last week's episode is no different. I watched part of the NFL Draft (Drew Pearson man, he trolled Philly HARD), and Billions keeps getting better. Other than that, there hasn't been much on TV and this weekend is another WWE pay per view that I am mildly interested in, but since I am paying for the service I am going to watch.

On the music front I am close to getting back on pace with my goal of listening to everything in the library. In the next couple of days I need to listen to around 108 songs and I'm back on track with the 50 songs a day. I will probably hit the 108 songs by Saturday considering I am around 40 songs right now.

Pickups

Games

First game is from earlier tonight when I was killing 15 minutes while waiting for my dinner order to be ready so I went to the Goodwill in the same shopping center. It is about time Goodwill went back to their $1.99 prices instead of this insane $3-6 for CDs, DVDs, and Games. Anyways it must have been a recent thing because there was a Konami game next to it for $5.

Nothing fancy but something new for the Wii.

This was a freebie from Ars Technica and GOG

I now have the first two Witcher games. Maybe it's time to start the series.

Music

While watching a really cool documentary on Showtime about The Beach Boys which focused on the album Pet Sounds, I went to check my collection and it turns out I didn't own a copy. The album I owned was a Pet Sounds Rehearsal album which I think is from Europe. Anyways after a couple of clicks and 2 day shipping I have this

You know what I like about The Beach Boys? The harmonies are amazing. I don't think they get enough credit for how good they are. The CD itself has the original album in its mono glory with a bonus track, and the stereo version of the album.

From Goodwill because things are $1.99 again!

I only wanted the Andrew WK album for the Party Hard song. Apparently the entire album is like that song. All upbeat fun songs.

And some random vinyl. I don't know where the artists not named Aretha are, but the covers look cool and that's what pulled me in.

Alright Pixlpeeps it is almost 10pm on the West Coast and I need to sync my phone, and maybe play some Lego City. Have a good weekend!

That's all for now, more later!

-Chris

The Beach Boys have a ton of beautiful songs and this is one of them from Pet Sounds. Have a good weekend.

I played Witcher 3 for five or so hours and it didn't interest me too much. Have yet to play a Western RPG that really grabbed me. They're just not my thing, I guess.

I'm curious to try the series out and see what everyone likes about it.

Are the country people or the college kids more annoying, I wonder.

I actually got Get Wet for free when I worked at the radio station.

College kids easily. They're more obnoxious in the stores. The Country crowd is a little older, and they can handle their booze.

Nice. I've always wondered do the folks at radio stations get a lot of free CDs? I would think they would to get a feel for the records and play what they liked.

Sadly, the songs are all on a computer playlist, we were only allowed to rotate 3 an hour, and with mostly hip hop heads running an alt rock station, not many had any personality when it came to music selection because they didn't like or understand the music.

BUT I later became the Station Mgr and Music Dir. in grad school (GA) and made sure that computer playlist was at least playing what it SHOULD and on weekends as a DJ, the classic rock was all on CDs, and we knew what we were doing then. Only issue there was couldn't play any of the same songs one hour to next, so if you came in for 5pm Sunday, you were in this horrible spot re: what music you could play. That was mostly where the (bad) slow jams came in.

Oh and if you heard American Pie during classic hits or Master of Puppets during alt rock, it meant someone had to take a dump. Sealed

That's about what i expected w country folk vs college kids. Now that I think of it, my town basically IS country folk vs colleges kids. Lol

Haha I heard about that about American Pie, or any song that is like 6 to 7 minutes long. It was either a bathroom break or a smoke break.

That sucks about the computer playlist. I think the local stations here still do that because on the rare chance I listen to the radio they will play the same stuff.

Oh yeah; any radio station owned by iHeart is gonna be a strict playlist on a computer. Been that way since at least mid 90s I think.

God only Knows is one of my favourite songs ever. I loved the Beach Boys when they weren't going on about the beach or little deuce coupes.

Here's one of my favourites from Pet Sounds. (sorry, too much work to embed here) https://youtu.be/7w7ZeSIC6K0

So much awesome harmonies on this album. Yeah when they were hard core into beach theme songs it was fun to listen to in spurts. They really shined on Pet Sounds

Oh its that song. I know this song mainly from samples by rappers. Also you can never go wrong with an Earth Wind and Fire cover. I wonder if I have that version.
