Quick Hits Mini: The Christmas Recap

So here I am on Wednesday night continually grazing on leftovers and a bag of chips that is within arms reach of this laptop. I’ve pushed it away a couple of times but I swear it has feet because it has made its way back to the cozy spot between my headphones on the table and the laptop screen. I have to say the Christmas Eve/Christmas Day festivities were fun. I mean you can’t go wrong with good people, good food, and some fun and games ending with some gifts. Let’s recap the events:

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without decorating and well Lego once again made an appearance with the Battle of Hoth With A Twist.

01

In my setup Santa, Deadpool, and his buddies are marching toward the enemy base to fight the folks who are against Christmas. I might have taken some liberties with the Star Wars story but at least Deadpool is under the Disney umbrella. Anyways here is a shot of the Hoth playset I bought a couple of years ago

02

and it has the Chicken Man. I needed an enemy that was kid friendly so Chicken Man was it. It took up the entire coffee table and it was fun to have set up. Maybe next year I'll build a Christmas Tree.

This was amazing to my young cousin when they came to visit on Christmas Eve. He’s a car guy but he’s starting to get into Lego, and was amazed by the setup. He’s never seen Star Wars (he’s in kindergarten) but he liked playing with the setup and didn’t even question why Santa had a sword. Since he’s the little guy I always buy Hot Wheels for I bought him some cars, and threw in some cash. He was more interested in the cars but when I tried sneaking the money back he quickly grabbed it and gave it to his mom.

When I was roaming around Toys R Us I bought this set for him, in the name of my uncle (he has no idea what to get kids so I volunteer)

04

So there is this giant dinosaur head and arm and at the other end is a track with a launcher and the point of this set is to launch the Monster Truck through the Dinosaurs mouth and to hit his arm. If you do it right, the top of the dinosaur’s head goes flying. I like this set more for Grave Digger than anything else and my cousin noticed that I liked Grave Digger so he made sure to hold that truck for the rest of the visit.

Before they visited I spent the morning running around hitting the grocery store a couple of times (it’s amazing how things need to be purchased the minute you walk into the front door), and one scary trip to Walmart where last minute shoppers are looking for gifts. Respect to you folks!

Christmas Day

I may have got up a tad bit late, but that’s because I originally woke up at 6am and went back to sleep at 6:30. Family came to visit which means a ton of food, laughs, conversations, random sports on TV, and me secretly grazing on food before the prayer. I was checking the food to make sure it was good enough for the family. That’s love. I got a snazzy Wharton School Water Bottle (I call it Ivanka U) and Santa listened to the guy who making sure the food was good enough and got me what I wanted

05

My box of brown sugar squares from See’s Candy. I like to believe a little old lady handmakes each piece. Anyways after looking up the name apparently they’re called Butterscotch Squares so next time I walk into a See’s I won’t have to say “the brown sugar squares”. After opening gifts and laughing it was time to play the gift exchange game, you know the one where you grab numbers out of a hat, pick a gift, have it taken, and then scheme to screw over family. That game. For the second year in a row I grabbed the number 1 but this year nobody bought one of those sampler boxes filled with a mini sausage, some cheese and crackers so it was a blind pick for me. I got this thing you stick in a wine bottle that helps it breathe and a wine glass with a wine bottle attached to it so you can get your drunk on. One of my cousins quickly proclaimed “He doesn’t drink” and when it was her turn she stole from me. STOLE! I went with a small bag and there was these containers for face mask cream or something like that. Guess who doesn’t have a dry face.

After this fun filled game it was time to play a new game that was discovered on the internets. Here’s the game: You have an inexpensive gift, and your goal is to open it. When you hear “Go” you put on oven mitts and then proceed to try and unwrap the gift all while someone is rolling dice. When they get doubles you stop and hand the items to the right. This goes on until the gift is fully unwrapped, and then a smaller gift starts the next round. This game is freaking hilarious! Once the prizes started to become as big as the size of two candy bars it became a little difficult to open so we tore a little piece of paper so we could have a fighting chance. I got a bath bomb in which I said I’m bringing to the clubhouse pool. All I’m going to say is my skin is going to be crazy soft because of this Christmas.

Later on while everyone was sitting and just hanging out I got a random knock where a kid was selling candy (I see you middle school kid, knowing people won’t say no on Christmas) and I bought a couple of bars

06

Since I sold these as a kid I’m assuming everyone sold these candy bars. They used to be bigger, came only in milk chocolate with almonds, and had a coupon for a free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut. Now they’re as wide as a penny, no coupon, and are gluten free. I have one left and it’s staring at me, I’ll hide it under the bag of chips that have made their way back to its rightful spot.

I think on Friday I am going to go out and check the mom and pop shop for some CDs before the year is up, and I need to buy another external hard drive so I can start another cleaning out-fest of my laptop and other hard drives. Currently I am debating if I should pick up a couple of games for Steam. They're on sale for the next couple of days so I might wait a bit to see if I really want them.

Well Pixlpeeps that was my Christmas. It was fun, I got some cool stuff, spent time with the family, and Santa brought me stuff, can’t go wrong. Have a good weekend Pixlbit!

That’s all for now, more later!

Cool lego pics! I kind of want to do a setup with my various action figures. Maybe I will, but it takes time.

I used to pass the place where the Grave Digger garage is in Virginia every time I went to the Outer Banks beaches. I don't go there anymore though. My dad sold his house down there.

Thanks!

That's really cool. There's nothing really like that here. I think the only cool motorsport venue is the random racetrack that was built out where I grew up. Its a track where wealthy folks race their vintage cars.

There's some track not too far from me where you can just take your car and do time trials and such. I guess I'd do that if I had a fast car.

When I was going to school in San Diego, a couple of times they would open a section of the Quallcomm Stadium Parking Lot so people could drag race in a safe area. As for locally there is a street in the middle of the desert that all the street racers use because it's long, and it's hardly used.

that little Star Wars setup is awesome man!  I wish I could do stuff like that.

I think for xmas my mom ordered See's Candy for her brother, my uncle. He likes that stuff.  We usually get a whitman's sampler, but we've been so hectic this xmas we haven't even opened it. jeez.

Thank You Sir!

Yeah I like the See's Candy boxes. They're perfect for sharing and you can't go wrong with candy you can share. I like those Whitman Samplers too but since the nut/seed allergy I had to be a bit more picky when it comes to candy. It takes the fun out of the sampler boxes.

Your bag of chips and my bag of white cheddar Cheetos puffs must have colluded, because the same thing happened to me last night.

And butterscotch is carmelized brown sugar, so you were technically right calling them that. My gramma used to make me butterscotch pudding from scratch when I was little, which is how I know.

Those bags of chips...they're sneaky.

Nice so I wasn't the crazy guy at See's. Butterscotch pudding is freaking awesome! I don't know why that was the special one when I was growing up because I didn't get it as much as the typical Chocolate or Vanilla.
