Well Happy Tuesday Pixlpeeps! Yesterday the plan was to sleep in on MLK Day but in my excitement I forgot to turn off my alarm and I woke up at my normal time. Oh well. So instead of blogging on my normal day here I am and guess what? I played some games throughout the week including one I found in my library that most likely I got through a bundle. Let’s recap all this goodness!

Monster Slayers - Steam

01

This game is my pleasant surprise of my Steam library because I like it as much as I do for a game I normally wouldn’t play. MS is a 16-bit looking card game/RPG where you create a character, gear up, fix your deck, and head out into the different maps. You encounter different enemies, who you battle by using cards. Now I don’t know what I am doing but I have built a decent deck that let’s me beat the crap out of the other guy. The problem is that once I finish one map I go into another map where the enemies are just as strong as my character and I have my lunch handed to me. I’m going to have to look up strategies, power up my cards in my deck and maybe not go into every fight wanting to throw down (but this is the fun part).

Within the map there are spots where there are friendly people like a healer who can either replenish your life/energy bar, or upgrade a card free of charge, a merchant who sells new gear, upgrades your cards, and can delete a card from your deck if you have no use for it, and random soldiers who either give you XP, gold, or a card.

Once you face enough enemies within the map, a boss appears where you do all your big fighting and then you can either choose to end the map or continue fighting the randoms in the map to earn more loot.

MS for me is a casual game that is a lot of fun, and I tent to play it for about 30 minutes a day. There is a DLC pack for $2 that unlocks more classes but I’m good with the ones provided for now. Anyways the game is a lot of fun and if it can run on my Travel Laptop that will be a game changer.

The Red Solstice - Steam

02

This is the current freebie from Humble Bundle so why not give it a spin. I played through the first level last night and so far I think it’s an ok game. I like to decribe this game as a 3/4 angle version of a cross between Dead Space and game where you control a unit of four soldiers.

03

The plot of the game is you have been sent to a city on Mars that is going through some stuff because people tried to terraforming the planet but they’ve run into problems so you and your team should go check it out. So far sounds good. Anyways once you get there you somehow get separated from the other groups that went to the surface with you and you have to not only figure out what happened, but reunite with the rest of the team, and not get taken out by whatever is on the surface…your typical space horror video game plot.

So this is a keyboard/mouse game but a layout I haven’t tried before: the WASD keys control camera, while the mouse controls movement and directions. At first I thought it was a little funky but after playing a couple of minutes it made sense. At times I have found myself waiting for the camera to recenter itself before I realize that I am controlling the camera.

Right now it’s free from Humble Bundle, give it a try.

NBA 2K16 - Steam

I’ve been playing with the Chicago Bulls as my new Franchise and I am having one hell of a time playing with the Bulls. I used an updated roster but I traded away most of the team and made them more uptempo and athletic. I also changed the default home and away jerseys. One of them I took inspiration from Nike’s current collection of NBA jerseys and one of their lines is the City jersey. I took the Bulls current City jersey

04

And I tweaked it a bit.

05

For my version I decided to not only use the city flag of Chicago, but also I used the Air Jordan iconic elephant/cement print. I added this in the Chicago wordmark, and the side panels of the jersey and shorts. Also I used the Chicago White Sox script Chicago.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

i'd love to be more involved with Steam. One day I'll build a computer with some power and get into it.

Sometimes I find games in my steam library I don't remember. Thank god for the inadequacies of the human brain!
