Happy Friday Pixlpeeps! Winter is making it’s last stand outside and it is cold (California Cold = high 60s) so here I am updating what has been going on in the non gaming stuff I have been up to. Sound fun? Alright let’s get started!

Chris Returns To The Gym

I think it was last week it was time to make good on one of my goals and I went to the gym. I liked it that I continued to go…except for today. I skipped my usual time but I might go either later on today or tomorrow. Nothing crazy but I like to spend time listening to podcasts and I have a tracklist of an hour’s worth of upbeat music from Men’s Health.

Chris Watches

Since I’ve stopped subscribing to Netflix I’ve been using Amazon Prime Video more. The selection isn’t as massive but there are a good selection of shows and movies. One night I finally got around to watching The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly all the way through. Now when there isn’t anything I want to watch on TV, Prime video is loaded and I will find something.

Oh and sometimes while on the treadmill I will load it up. I watched a couple of shows about Egypt, so I’m getting some learning on while walking.

Chris Listens

I have slimmed down my podcast list to I believe eight shows. I removed the political stuff because I don’t want to get frustrated, and now the list is this:

Going In Raw - A wrestling podcast where two guys recap the events from the WWE. Sounds like two friends hanging out.

Cheapassgamer - A videogame podcast where three friends talk games for the week. I tend to skip sections especially when they start getting political. I listen for the game talk, not their views on politicians.

MTV Reality RHAP Up - A recap show about MTV’s The Challenge.

Sports? With Katie Nolan - A sports show that’s funny

The Joe Budden Podcast - A once a week show where friends talk about everything going on. I laugh out loud a lot with this show. Also at the end the three hosts play their favorite songs that nobody knows about

The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe - A once a week 10 minute podcast where Mike reads a story about a famous person and doesn’t reveal the person until the end.

Cold Case Files: The Podcast - Another once a week show that is 30 minutes long and is an rendition of cases from Cold Case Files.

The Do Tell Ray Show - Ray who used to be part of Carolla Digital’s Ace on the House has his own podcast where Ray and his friends talk about random stories and give out home improvement advice.

Pickups!

The Big Pickup

Last week while eating breakfast I was going through Slickdeals and I spot the deal that I had to jump on. There is an online store on eBay that was selling the Nintendo Switch for $280. eBay had a coupon for 20% off so I jumped on this deal and got a Nintendo Switch for $224 before tax. There were only 5,000 available and at first I couldn’t get the page to load on my laptop or iPad. I went to my phone and I got in, and I got to the checkout page. A couple of minutes later I got the email that stated that I now own a Nintendo Switch (I keep typing Wii). I figured that it would be canceled so I didn’t buy any Switch related items until I got the shipped e-mail. Once I got that on Monday I went on Amazon and I bought a case, and a screen protector. A day before everything arrived I went and bought a couple of games from GameStop

01

Nintendo Switch - $224 (before tax)

Case - $12

Screen Protector 2-pack - $7

Games - $70

So for $313 I like to think I got a damn good deal. I have an extra 32GB Micro SD card so that is my temp external storage. I’m going to wait a bit for Mario Hat (Odyssey), Mariokart, and maybe Zelda. For now the TV dock, and the controller thing will stay wrapped up in the box because the Switch is going to be a portable device for me. This will probably change when my brother visits and he will want to play.

Earlier today I stopped at Toys R Us because they are now at 70% off but 50% off for games. They pulled some of the yellow exclude stickers off the games and I picked these two for $38

02

Pinball was $20

Random Girl Game was $15

I think I’m good for Switch games for a bit. Of course I say this but the minute I find a deal on a game I like....you get the idea.

In other game pickups

Last week on Steam there was a solid sale where I picked up some games I’ve wanted for $8

03

I skipped on the original three Tomb Raider games because I knew I wasn’t going to play them even though they were .97 cents each.

I visited two different .99 Cent Only stores and they got a ton of new Lego Dimensions items

04

Here’s an endcap of one of the stores

I ended up buying one each of the minifigures I didn’t own

06

07

08

05

I already own the Knight Batman so I’ll keep it sealed for now. I might go back to the .99 Cents Only stores and get one each for my cousins who also own the game. Last year I gave them a bunch of my copies and I might go back and pickup more for them. We’ll see if they still play the game.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I made some “fancy” Mac & Cheese for no meat Friday and I’m hungry. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I should listen to more podcasts or find some good audiobooks for runs.

Audible.com is the place to go for books. Owned by Amazon.

I've had a free trial or two before, but didn't like how you had to pay for individual books on top of monthly fee.

ah, I didn't know that

There is a site called LibriVox.org which is a site where volunteers read public domain books. This is where I got my Western Books and the quality is good. It's a good service and the files are in mp3 format so you can use them on any devices.

Also check the public library, and your campus library. They should have some audiobooks you can check out, copy and return. I also think if you have Amazon Prime you can use Audible and I believe they have Audible channels that have some audiobooks that are free.

There was news around here on the east coast of Toy R Us begining to close stores. I'm checking on them from time to time hoping to come upon a clearance sale there.

I'm annoyed I can't find Lego Dimensions stuff at my 5 Below stores. And Toys R Us isn't discounting them. I was the Dr. Who level pack.

I went to the local Toys R Us for Dimensions and they were gone, all of them. I think reseller guy hit this section and the actual Lego section hard.

I'm not even going to swoop down on this one. I've spent enough already. Those resellers aren't getting my business either.

Congrats on getting a Switch!  I didn't know there was a Stern pinball collection for it.  'Random Girl Game.' ha!

I reviewed the Fantastic Beasts, Beetlejuice, and Teen Titans LEGO Dimensions packs.

Thanks! Yeah those were the two games worth buying that was left at Toys R Us. Looking back I should have picked up the Farming Simulator as well but I don't know if I would actually play it.

yay you got a switch!  Prepare to have some good times with that thing!  I love my Switch so much. It's a great system if you like handhelds.

Yeah, it's been cold lately. But we're coming out of it I think.

I do like portable gaming and the Switch is a good pickup. I do wish there were more sports & racing games available

that's a good point. Maybe that will change eventually. A good racing game would be dope. I'm hoping Madden comes out for it this year.
