So I just got back from running errands earlier than normal because the humidity is crazy, and then you throw in the various fires there’s a hint of smoke in the air. Not a good time to be roaming around. The one positive is that I just finished my “fancy” Egg McMuffin from Starbucks, and I am listening to the latest Nikki album on Spotify. Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is Friday, I am here and let’s catch up on what has been going on.

Chris Watches…

YouTube: So I’m still on my “A Day in the Life of” videos and I moved on to folks in the military. Interesting to see how people live on ships and on submarines. Really makes you appreciate being able to roll on your bed and still be on the bed, and being able to do simple things like grab a “fancy” Egg McMuffin when you’re done roaming around. I also started watching some videos about living on the International Space Station and folks living in Antarctica. I told a friend that the ISS looks like a blanket fort and really confining and being claustrophobic because of the lack of space. In the south Pole there was one video of a teacher who is spending a short time on base and gives a tour of the living area. Interesting stuff.

Preseason Football: It’s back and I casually watch. I really don’t care about wins and losses at this point because it doesn’t matter. It’s interesting to see who is stepping up and who might be let go. I watched the Dallas game last night and Bo Scarborough seems like a solid pickup.

Chris Reads…

I’ve taken a week off from reading, probably due to watching random videos on YouTube. Currently I am charging my first generation iPad to use as a my big book.

01

Hello old friend

I figure it’s right next to my bed not being used, why not load my library on it and take advantage of the big screen. We’ll see on that goes.

Randoms

- A couple of days ago I started drinking a gallon of water a day. I don’t know why I started doing it but it’s not as bad as I thought. I have a 32oz Hydro Flask that I drink out of, so four of those a day isn’t a big deal since I usually drink 2-3 a day.

- I’m going Excel crazy with lists. I started up a list for video games I own, and that one is going to be a doozy especially if I include all the random iOS and Android games I downloaded throughout the years. Good thing iTunes and Google Play keep a list of all the stuff I purchased from them. I also set up a list for my Lego instruction booklets. That one should be fun and a little easier because I keep the books in two accordion binders. I need to buy a third because the first two are filled. More on that next week.

- I’ve been watching video reviews about the iPad Pro’s and the new Surface Go’s. I like both, but I don’t really need to own both, and I’ve been on the fence on which one I would get more use out of. The Pro is a solid tablet, but I also like having full Windows. If I ever decide on one it will probably be closer to around Christmas or the new year.

Pickups

Games

02

Freebie on the Switch. I haven’t powered up my Switch to download. To be honest I haven’t touched the Switch or Steam to play a game in maybe a week. It’s been either NCAA Football on the PS3 or whatever tablet games I’ve been playing.

Music

There was some new freebies from Google Play I added to the library but I haven’t downloaded them to iTunes yet. Google Play does a good job of building up a library and makes it somewhat easy to download content. You get two downloads per track, and if you want more you need to download the Google Play app on your PC.

Toys

While roaming around Walmart early this morning and I found this

03

It’s a cool release and it’s the same Corvette from the Fast and Furious set. I bought two, one to open and one to toss in the plastic bin. A cool detail is the 50 on the hub

04

If I was into customizing Hot Wheels this would be a good car for donor parts.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. My first 32oz bottle of the day is empty and I want to start adding content to the old iPad. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I was doing a half-gallon a day of water for a while. Now that I'm making all my own meals, I don't feel the need to be so strict about it anymore. I do have water bottles with all the time though.

I use backloggery for my database now. Now that I have Game Pass and rent through the library, I wonder why I still do it but I still have retro stuff I actually own.

I get being sick of being strict. There's a nice balace between going healthy and going overboard with it.

I have a Backloggery but I haven't updated it in forever. I'd like to have my excel list on Google Docs and living on my phone just so I have a list I have full control over.

I've done Excel sheets before of all my games. I think it's neet to be able to share it like it is on backloggery. Also, the ability to add comments and ratings.

I remember watching a doc on YouTube about Navy Seals. Interesting.

Those guys go through a lot just to get into training, and then they go through even more crazy stuff.

My dad watched a documentary series that followed people through a year of life on an aircraft carrier. That was pretty interesting. I'm not sure if that was on Amazon or Netflix.

I like the new Surface Go's, but I love the iPad too much. I need a new laptop too though. I'm waiting for the new Macbook Air's to be released which I think they're doing this fall.

I think there is one on each. I know I saw one on Amazon.

The Go's and iPad's are nice, and for me they seem like good complimentary items to a dedicated computer. For short trips they seem like they work well. I like the Macbook Air's but since I made the switch back to Windows I'd like to stick with the same family when it comes to smaller travel size devices.
