Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a cool Saturday morning here in sunny Southern California, and I am currently taking a break from Christmas music to catch up on podcasts that I didn’t get to listen to over the past week. Why? Well more on that in a bit, but here I am, a day late, a buck short (there was a problem with my pay so I have to wait a bit, but no big deal), and well at least it is Saturday right? Let’s get started.

Chris Votes…

To start I really don’t care which way you lean politically, because that doesn’t make what kind of person you are. Shame that more people don’t view this way, but whatever last Tuesday was voting day and Facebook all of a sudden became very political. Apparently everyone was interested but during the previous election, nobody cared. You want to know about my polling experience? Well my polling place is still in the elementary school in a sketchy neighborhood, instead of the nice hotel by the freeway that has free breakfast. I walked in and guess what, I was the only person voting…again. The guy at the door asked me for my voter book because it has info on it, I said I didn’t bring it, and I usually vote on that section and pointed to the far right (the big multipurpose room was split into two districts) and then when I walked over to my section I gave my info to the lady. There really was no explanation of how to vote, which is good, and then I went to my little pop up booth, started my music, brought up my voting cheat sheet and 5 minutes later I was done, tearing off the receipt and making my way to the table to drop off my ballot and pickup my sticker

01

Finally the county got rid of the crappy Microsoft Office clip art sticker with something better.

Tuesday night everyone kept posting about people need to go vote, blah blah blah, and I may have been a bit snarky when I wrote:

Facebook right now: I hope that X wins so state can be red/blue.

Facebook next week: I wonder what's going to be on sale on Black Friday.

I’m glad people vote but at the same time I know a bunch of people on my Friends list do it because it seems like the hip thing to do. It’s a bandwagon, and most likely next election, they’ll remain silent. This isn’t just a Facebook thing, Twitter does the same thing, heck any social media. Hopefully one or two folks decide to keep voting instead of doing it for the tons of pictures they post with their sticker.

Chris’ Internet/Cable Go Out

Tuesday also brought this issue, the issue of the house not having any cable or internet. At first I thought it was a neighborhood issue until we called the clubhouse and apparently we were the only house so we called our cable company. Instead of giving you the name of the garbage cable company I will use a fake name. We shall call them Rubbish. We called Rubbish and after being on hold for 15 minutes we got to talk to a guy we shall call Donkey. Donkey started off nice, and then 10 minutes later of constantly explaining to him that when our old cable company was bought out from Rubbish they didn’t enter the house, to which Donkey said we were wrong. I normally don’t cuss here, but Donkey is a POS A-hole. Eventually we just agreed that it was a waste of time trying to talk to each other because A. Donkey is an ass, and B. Donkey is an ass. So for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the internet use was cut down a peg because my phone and it’s “unlimited” internet was the only option.

I have 8GB a month to use as well as whatever rollover I have from the previous so 12GB total. As of this morning I have 6.1GB for the rest of the month. Thursday morning a nice gentleman from Rubbish came, said that the media box that was inside the house isn’t theirs and then explained and showed us where the box is. He checked it out, explained what he was doing and then said the unit that we have has blown out and needed to be replaced. He then said this was the third one of the day for him, and 10 minutes later he was in the house, and we were talking about how we are now addicted to the internet. Everything was good and I have internet again! Also thank you to the good tech crew that puts a better face on Rubbish and the phone center Donkey needs to be more like their tech guys.

Things Chris Did While No Internet/Cable:

-Dusted Off The Blu-ray Player: I haven’t used it in years so it was fun trying to figure out how to skip previews (thank you digitial video for not having this) and I watched the handful of Blu-rays I have as well as dusted off my DVD book. I don’t know why earlier Chris bought full frame DVDs instead of Widescreen.

-Not use YouTube: I cut out YouTube streaming because I didn’t want to blow my data on videos of people talking about laptops.

-Can’t Download Podcasts: Apparently Apple and or my phone company caps you on how big a file you can download via data. 100mb+ and it is a no go. I seriously thought about walking down to the clubhouse, sitting in the lobby and downloading podcasts from their WiFi and at one point I seriously thought about being the guy I make fun of, Starbucks “working” guy (the guy who sets up camp at Starbucks with a Macbook Pro, and proceeds to sit there for hours doing everything but work).

-Ripping CDs: This was actually not as bad, with the exception of older albums who didn’t have their tags on the audiotracks. A couple of where just Track 1, 2, etc. With no artist and album names.

-While cleaning around the media box in the closet I found this and played it

02

I found my bag of different GameBoys and man how bad were the screens on these things?

It is amazing how I rely on Internet and Cable. I had no idea what the hell was going on because I couldn’t watch the news, or read about it online. I only used my phone data a little bit in the morning and at night.

Pickups

Games

I bought a game based on what the people of Reddit said and I have to agree, this is a fun game

03

So you’re a Space Marshall in a Space meets Cowboy world *cough Firefly cough* I also bought the one DLC for it

04

That cost more than the game. Damn good game and more about it on Monday…or maybe Tuesday.

I also got a freebie game from iTunes App Store

05

Reddit also said to give it a try. Can’t go wrong when the game is free.

Music

None

Hot Wheels

Ok so I ran out of mouth wash so I had to go to Walmart. I bought

06

I opened both because the El Camino is cool looking car/truck, and the Batmobile from the Animated Series.

I also bought one of the more expensive Hot Wheels cars I like to call the Fancy Hot Wheels because they’re $6, made of metal and have nice wheels.

07

I bought this for my uncle who loves his 21 window bus. I was going to buy the Galaxie with the Gulf livery but this was sitting on the pegs and I didn’t want to spend $12 on two cars so I put down my car and got my uncle this one.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off, I kinda want to play some NCAA Football so I am ending my entry here. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

I got an El Camino in my garage in Forza Horizon 4. I think it's funny looking, but I also kind of like it. Plus, it makes me think of driving it out west for some reason. Seems like a car to drive across a desert, Hunter Thompson style.

Those Game Boy screens are pretty terrible. That's why I got the Game Boy Player for my GameCube. Jeremy Parish, though, who's been doing a comprehensive GB review web site, has a special one that has a much brighter screen. I think there was a rare edition of it, or some modded one.

I think voting should be required. I can't believe the low number of people who actually vote. Doesn't anybody want a say in this society?

I always thought they were funny looking because its a car and a truck, but they were always kinda cool. I can't remember who, but someone in my family or a family friend had one.

There are probably mods for the Game Boy, but at this point I'll just play the games on my PC, but it was fun to put some new batteries in it, and give it a spin. It is a shame I didn't keep my add-ons that magnified the screen and had a little light.

It is insaine how many people don't vote. Take the 30 minutes to read up on the props, fill out your voter book, and take time out of your day to do it. So many people fought and in some places are still fighting for this privilege, take five min out your day and go vote.

I don't know if you read that "Hidden Tribes" study, but it basically said that the far left and far right are the most active groups on social media if my memory is correct, so I think Facebook and Twitter are bad places to go to avoid politics. At least Facebook has good unfollow and hide post options, which I use. Twitter on the other hand just kinda stays annoying ...

Thanks for the heads up, I downloaded the study and it is currently on my iPad. From what you wrote that sounds about right when it comes to social media. I had one friend on my Facebook who posted nothing but far left ideals and when called out about it, I was met with the usual lines. The unfollow was used quickly.

No internet??? That's barbaric!

It was busy when I voted, and I went at 7AM. Luckily I didn't wait until later that day.

Right? I still had some connection but I didn't want to use all of it in the first part of the month, although an additional 3GB at $20 didn't sound too bad.

At least folks in Arizona take voting seriously. Maybe its because I'm in a small town, but even when the local news reports numbers it is really low.
