Quick Hits: Super Early Black Friday (Gray Wednesday) Pickups!

Well good morning Pixlpeeps! I am going to try and type this up as quickly as possible so I can jump on some pre Thanksgiving errands before all the crazies start filling up the stores. It is 8:22am right now and I hope to have this finished and the pictures edited before 9 so I can get the day going. So let’s get started with Chris’ Early Black Friday or as I like to call it Gray Wednesday!

Gray Wednesday Pickups!

So on Monday my cousin wanted to check out the Target to pickup some everyday stuff, but it is also Target so you have to spend more than what you wanted. Target is selling certain CDs for $7 and I wanted four of them. Since this Target is has been remodeled (for you old Target stores think of a store that’s trying to be hip) and their music selection is basically an end cap at this point. Depressing but whatever, I found two of the four CDs I wanted

I saw the new Mariah album on Spotify so it was a shock that she had new music. Actually I listened to a single a couple of weeks ago and wasn’t impressed, but I figured I have all but one of her albums I might as well pick this up.

*Random: do you know how hard it is to find a copy of Glitter Soundtrack? It’s not a good movie, I’m not expecting much from the album but for some odd reason all my usual places to look for CDs never have it.

I haven’t heard the latest Ariana Grande so I also picked it up to add to the library.

The other two albums I just decided to pickup online and they will be arriving on Monday

I do like singing competition shows, and Camila was part of the X-Factor. She was put into a group by Simon Cowell and eventually became Fifth Haromony. Anyways I enjoyed this album on streaming so it was time to actually own it. As for Kacey Musgraves, I’m just a fan.

On the way out of Target I spot this on the Hipster display near some clothing

How is Target selling cassettes but does not have a solid selection of CDs? Also news flash the sound of cassettes are terrible, and I still own some tapes and I have a USB cassette player.

Next stop was GameStop because I saw that they are having their Black Friday sale early so we made a stop. Now remember my last trip with A-hole GameStop employee. Yeah he was still there but he was making busywork while their was a line of people. At least he’s consistant with being an A-hole. The other employee was cool because he used to work at the local Target and he’s friends with my cousin. I bought these two games for a total of $40.

Horizon Complete Edition was $10, and God of War was $30. Yesterday I installed them and to my surprise their installs were quick…Playstation quick. I tried a bit of Horizon last night and I’m liking it but I want to hold back until I really get into it before I make a judgement.

Final stop of the night was to Walmart

I spot this album and you can’t go wrong with The Gap Band, but it doesn’t have the good 12” mix with the intro. I was going to buy the single on iTunes earlier in the day but held off, saw the CD and thought I don’t have to now, realized it didn’t have the version I wanted, and I bought the single anyways.

So the only thing left to pickup on Black Friday err Thursday Night (I call this one Dark Gray Thursday) is Lego Villains, and maybe a Roku. Alright it is 8:41am and it is time to do some photo editing.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Pixlpeeps! And for you folks outside of the US, just spend some time with family, eat a lot of food, and take a nap on the couch.

Horizon Complete Edition for $10. Cool! I have the regular one I got earlier this year. Complete Edition would be cooler.

Cassette tapes are still being sold? Strange.

Yeah it's odd that tapes are making a comeback. I wonder if hipsters know that you can rewind a tape with a pencil.

Oh man, I'd forgotten about that pencil trick. That takes me back.

I have a case full of tapes from around 1986. I'm thinking they might not be playable anymore. Probably disintegrating or something by now. Luckily, I converted them all to CD back in 2000 or so.

I wish I would have kept my tapes. I had a bunch of random mixes and it would be fun to go back and listen to them.

Me too. I had tons of mixes. I used to send them to my friend Sean as a kind of radioshow letter.

And I STILL haven't beaten Horizon. That's like my gaming Everest. God of War is still the disc in my PlayStation, but I've played more Rondo of Blood.

I think maybe you can't find Mariah's Glitter album because that's a period of her life she'd like to forget, and I'm sure her managers would too. There might be some contract clause somewhere that she and her people never speak of it again.

I almost used the same "I have all but one CD from them" logic when Metallica released "Hardwired to Self-Destruct," but it sounded too similar to Death Magnetic and I just wasn't feeling it at the time. That's still their only studio album I don't own.

You haven't beaten Horizon, I haven't progressed past what is basically the tutorial, it might as well be my base camp to your Everest.

It has to be because that album just disappeared. Watch the minute I order a copy online they are going to start showing up everywhere.

I just realized that I think I might have all of Metallica's Studio albums. I'm probably missing one but when I finally rip all my CDs I'll check.

Do you own Garage Inc. or Lulu? I honestly don't count those, cause Garage Inc. is all covers and Lulu is a collaboration ... and also trash.

Actually I don't know. Once I finish ripping my CDs I can check. I want to say yes but I'm not sure. Man I really need to get going on a new CD list.

I'm gonna buy Horizon eventually, just been busy with other games.

Appetitie for Destruction is a pretty class record. They played those songs endlessly when I was a kid.

I'm holding off on buying new games until I finish the ones I bought over the past month. Heck I even passed on that Uncharted game that has the two women as lead characters (I have no idea what it's called).

It's a damn good album. I have the original CD, and I really should have bought the rerelease with the extra tracks but I just listened to it on Spotify.
