It is Friday which means I have some free time so after I type up this latest entry here in Pixlbitland I will read/reply to all you good people. I may also go find a higher quality terrible pizza to have for breakfast. Guess who bought a Pizza Crisper Pan? This guy! I may be moving up from terrible boxed cheese pizza to not so terrible bake at home cheese pizza for no meat Friday. More on my diet in a bit but first let’s get this week’s Quick Hits started.

Chris Watches…

-It has been a week since the cable got upgraded to Super Uber Mega package with DVR and well the only new thing I’ve been doing is watching the last hour of Breakfast Club on one of the music stations to see who Charlamagne Tha God’s pick for Donkey of the Day, oh and BBC America has an All Day Star Trek TNG marathon.

-Today is the start of Wrestling weekend. This afternoon it’s NXT Take Over which is odd because Take Over’s are usually on Saturday. Sunday is WrestleMania, and I am going to use my swanky pizza crisper, and a lot of chicken wings to enjoy this 8 hour wrestling event (I’ll also have my Switch and iPad handy when I lose interest in certain matches)

-My new YouTube binge watch is this guy who works on a merchant ship, and this lady in Omaha who buys records. Her audio needs improvement but it’s interesting to watch.

Chris Reads…

-I started Killing Kennedy by Bill O’Reilly on Saturday, and I should have been finished by Tuesday or Wednesday but it is Friday and I am on Disc 4 of 7. I have something like 3 hours left which isn’t bad. It follows the same narration style that Killing Reagan had of abbreviated biography, more detail to leading up to the event, and then the aftermath. This one also follows a little bit of Lee Harvey Oswald around the same period.

-I have a problem with ripping audiobooks. The discs could be perfect but when ripping some sections will randomly not rip properly. The end of Disc 3 for Kennedy the last handful of tracks would skip. It’s odd because I only have this problem with audiobooks.

Chris Listens…

-I started listening to Nipsey Husstle’s Victory Lap. Up until a couple of days ago I knew of his Mixtapes but never really checked out album. So far I like it, and I added it to my CD buys list.

-Last week on Spotify I started listening to George Strait’s newest album and surprisingly I dig that too. I really dig Two More Wishes, and that’s what is driving me to buy this album. Talk about a random jump from Nipsey to George.

-In CD ripping as of right at this moment I have ripped 1,898 albums. This includes maybe 30+ CD singles. Going off of what iTunes said I have a little over 3,000 albums before CD singles (I think I have around 100 CD Singles). This isn’t including the new stuff I’ve been getting over the past month because I haven’t updated my iTunes.

-Last week it was a little warm so we had a trip to the beach. We went to Doheny State Beach in Dana Point in an RV and spent the day just enjoying the weather, good company, eating a bunch, and relaxing. On the way home we stopped by a Salvation Army but more on that later.

-So while ripping CDs I noticed that there is a one second skip in my copy of AC/DC’s Back In Black. It’s in the middle of Hell’s Bells and it isn’t a big deal but it bothered me. I saw that the local Walmart had a copy so I put in an order and it should have been ready in an hour. Well that didn’t happen because apparently they no longer have a copy so it will be here by Wednesday. I canceled my order but Walmart still thinks I’m ordering it so I’ve been getting updates. If I knew this I would have gone through Amazon. Anyways yesterday I saw the local library had a copy so I reserved it, went over to pick it up, and now I have a clean copy.

-My cousin told me that my copy of Borderlands got upgraded to the some fancy HD or something so I re-installed it on Steam, imported my maxed out character (I may have used some mods on the previous version to get my character maxed out in minutes). Before some of you get all upset I don’t play online.

-Ok so first up, the stuff I found at the Salvation Army in Dana Point

Jake Shimabukuro - Walking Down Rainhill (CD/DVD 2 Disc)

Mary J. Blige - The Tour

Teena Marie - Icon

Joe Satriani - Dreaming #11

Shai - Blackface

New Order - Technique

Jermaine Dupri - Instructions

It was 50% off Day so it came out to I think $5. There was a lot of CDs but maybe half of them were religious. I don’t mind it but it wasn’t something I was looking for. Turns out I already own New Order Technique. I need to finish my list.

Yesterday while picking up my CD from the library, I checked out their little bookstore, bought some CDs and then hit two thrift stores down the street. For a total of $2.75 this is what I bought

From the Library I bought

Yo-Yo Ma - Plays Ennio Morricone

Bob Dylan - Biograph (three discs)

From the Thrift

Beck - Beck

Kenny G - Kenny G

Dashboard Confessional - The Drowning EP

Beck - Mellow Gold

Sugarhill Gang - Hits

Beck - Mutations

Various Artists - Virgin Suicides

Turns out I already own Mutations, but for a quarter for each disc it wasn’t a big deal. A month earlier I bought a disc from Biograph but couldn’t remember which one so when I saw the set at the library for a quarter each I just grabbed all three.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am going to end our chat here. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

I've been going through his mixtapes in my library and I'm digging it. I wish there were physical copies of them.

You know, I came across that Yo Yo Ma / Ennio Morrione album on Apple Music but I can't remember if I added it to my playlist. Thanks for the reminder!

No problem! This was a blind buy for me but I do like Yo-Yo Ma so hopefully when I give it a spin I will enjoy it.

I look at CDs when I'm at Goodwill, but I rarely find something I want. I'll keep looking though. You never know.

Keep digging. Some days there's nothing, other days it's a goldmine!
