Yesterday I had a marathon of wrestling that started at 2pm and didn’t end until 9:30ish because WrestleMania. I had my iPad and Switch ready to go in case I run into wrestling dry spells (boring matches) but surprisingly I didn’t have to use them much except for spots here and there. I call that a win. Let’s get started with the handful of games I’ve played.

Ridge Racer: Unbounded - Steam

Still doing the same, grinding, but now I’m starting to get back into the swing of things. I unlocked the last section that was unavailable but now I just need to tighten up the racing, and dominate the rest of the sections. I’m still sitting at two sections finished.

NBA 2K18 - Switch

The season is almost over, and up until the last couple of games I played my squad was struggling. One game against the Hornets I blew a 15 point lead to lose by 20. Yeah it was bad. Nothing was falling and by the time the 4th rolled around it was nothing but 3 point bricks. The return game in Philly I did my best to make it a blowout early and the Sixers won by 19. Before that game it was blowout city as the Sixers were just running over everyone.

Gems Of War - Switch

This game I’ve been spending a lot of time with. Sunday I woke up a little later than normal but I spent a couple of hours just lying in bed playing this match 3 game. I played a bit here and there during WrestleMania, and right before bed while watching Chinatown (excellent flick) was more Gems Of War. I finished the quests in two kingdoms, working on a third, upgrading my squad, and I’m ignoring all the ads to buy gems and what not. I don’t go online, and my stance is still the same: the minute the game becomes unbearable unless I spend money I’m done. If the developers would have made this an actual real game that I pay money to own instead of the Freemium nonsense, I would have supported them.

Randoms

-I really don’t like how Freemium is becoming the norm on consoles. Its sad that these garbage games flood the mobile market and now are starting to be a presence on consoles and PC. I get why developers are doing it, and I guess this is going to be where gaming is headed. Maybe this is point where I no longer have to buy the latest and greatest and just stick with the older games.

-I wish there was a good baseball game on the Switch. The Vita was such an awesome handheld because I could continue my Show season from the PS4 to the Vita.

-After watching a ton of wrestling, I kinda want to get a wrestling game on the Switch. I know they're not good, but I do want to play. Maybe I should play one of my older games to scratch this itch.

-I probably would have gamed a lot more but on Saturday I got caught up in sorting Lego. I may have found some cool stuff, but more on that this Friday.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

I hope Freemium is not the new normal. I would not buy anything like that.

I hope it's not but with games like Fortnite and other similar games it looks like this is the direction games are going.

I've been pretty happy with stuff like Spider-Man, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War (don't really like the game, but get the appeal), etc. selling as well as they have as single-player experiences. I'm hoping Fortnite and other online games are more the type of genre that goes freemium, since the appeal is the online component, while my single-player experiences (especially Yakuza) are left alone aside from optional DLC.

I'm not a fan of freemium either. I'd rather just pay for the game. I know companies love those sweet, sweet microtransactions, but I'm not crazy about the sort of business model. I did play that Simpsons town building game for a while, but I never spent any money.

Tapped Out was a lot of fun, hell I played it for I think 5 or 6 years, but it started to become a chore. I'm good with developers asking for a couple of bucks to remove ads. If the product is good I'm giving you my money but if it becomes a grind OR I can pay a couple of bucks, than I'm moving on.

I wanted to play Ridge Racer Unbounded a little while ago. i might even still have it in my collection. I forget why. I think because a favorite developer of mine did it.

I played Gems of War on Xbox One. It's by the guys who did Puzzle Quest, I believe, and it plays just like it. I lost interest somewhere along the way with it, but I'd like to play it again.
