Well good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a breezy Friday here in what is normally sunny Southern California. I should be eating a regular breakfast but yesterday while buying some groceries I saw that the local Winco carries Tim Tam’s, and I think from a random YouTube video I saw someone mention it and how great they are. It’s there, I figure what the hell, and I bought a pack. Hey Australia, it’s not that bad. Currently I have a couple on a plate and that’s what I am chewing on while typing.

Chris Watches…

-Apparently I didn’t miss the premier of the Wu Tang series “Of Mics and Men” (thanks DVR) and watching the beginnings of a group that was one of those groups I started following in high school, it was interesting to see how the group was formed. I can’t wait for episode 2 tonight.

-Game of Thrones is almost over, and so far I’m enjoying it. I don’t get why people want this season remade, and signed a petition. It’s a TV show! It’s not that serious. Back to the show we all have theories on what’s going to happen, and I have mine that I shared on Facebook when one of my friends asked for theories.

Chris Listens To…

-The soundtrack to the Wu Tang Series was released on various streaming platforms today and that’s what I am listening to. I’m currently listening to the Spotify version. I don’t know if Tidal and AppleMusic have different versions, but since I have Spotify, I will assume it’s the best version (Sooooo much bias here)

-While watching YouTube, I’ve been watching people’s vinyl pickups and it’s amazing to see how many random bands people follow. A couple of these bands I’ve looked up on Spotify and now I have added to my must buy CD shopping list on Amazon.

-Since I’m on the YouTube subject there are some people who are just so obnoxious when it comes to collecting. I remember seeing these folks in GameStop back in the day, and it seems like the Vinyl Community also have these types of collectors. One video there was this guy who just droned on and on about the code on the record, where it was printed, why he likes them, and how great it is, and then made a remark about CDs. Who the hell cares how you consume music, the most important thing is that you’re enjoying it. Guy was just being pretentious and an AHole.

-I am down to ripping my book of CD Singles! Oh you don’t know how excited I am to be almost finished with this task. It is a pain.

Chris Reads…

-Once I finish ripping my CDs I plan on jumping back into Audiobooks, and shocker: going back to comic books. I have a ton of digitals and it is time to read them.

This week I’ve had a couple of orders come in. Let’s start in order:

A week ago I placed an order at Amoeba for a used CD. Not really a big deal but the used CD was still sealed and it was $4.99. Sold! Since shipping is free, but takes four days, four days later I got

01

Ok this CD is covered in bubble wrap, was in a padded mailer with Fragile and Do Not Bend stickers on it. Amoeba doesn’t play! I would gladly order from them again. Oh and as for the CD I bought this album

02

I bought the second studio release from Haim. I bought this because I went through another Haim phase the previous two weeks while listening to their first album, and the EP’s that were sold on iTunes. Oh and the reason why this album was considered used is because the barcode was popped, which means this was probably a promo.

Next two albums I put in an order for at the same time. One of them was going to be mailed the next day while the other was going to be mailed a week later (probably getting it from another vendor). Anyways I got this one first

03

This was one of my favorite albums after I just graduated from college, and I didn’t know they released an acoustic version until while on Instagram I saw people posting that there was a special edition colored vinyl through VYNL. I looked it up and sure enough there was a CD release so I order that. A week later I got this one

04

Because I never owned a physical copy, and it’s weird to have the Acoustic but not the original.

Since I’m excited for the Wu Tang Clan series you know what I bought. The first CD replaces the lost copy I had

05

This one doesn’t have the dust cover that the original had, but as long as I have the physical copy. Two days later I said screw it and completed the studio releases getting the last two I didn’t own

06

If I decide to go with the solo releases it is going to take a while.

TV

I bought the current season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD from Amazon for a whopping $3. It’ll be like my season of Supergirl, and Sunny in Philadelphia: I’ll binge them all once their season ends.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I need to head out to Costco…and maybe a stop at Goodwill first. I need some groceries and pizza. I like Costco pizza. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Tim Tams, huh? I wonder if I can get those somewhere in Texas. Maybe not rural East Texas, but one of the cities.

I saw a video on Wired where they were interviewing Wu Tang. I thought it was interesting, but the questions were pretty basic and I imagine their long-time listeners knew a lot of it. They even made a remark about the people Googling them (the interview is from a Wired series where celebrities answer Google queries about them) being in the "5-9" age demographic.

Since you're watching YouTube music collector stuff, do you watch "What's in My Bag?"

Since I'm in a small town you might find Tim Tam's in your area. I picked up the original flavor a couple of days ago to compare against the caramel version I bought a while back.

Wu Tang is an interesting bunch. When I first heard them I thought it was odd to have so many people rapping but thanks to MTV the 36 Chambers album stuck with me.

I love What's In My Bag. Celebs listen to some weird stuff, but it's interesting to see what musicians like, what draws them in. Hell even when they show musicians I don't know I'll do a Google/YouTube/Spotify and then discover something new.

I really need to get back into graphic novels. I have a nice iPad Pro now, and should really read them on that rather than in paper. They take up so much space.

I like the physical comic/graphic novel, but damn they do take up so much space. The Pro has a beautiful screen and those novels should take full advantage. Thank goodness I never really got into comic collecting (it also helps that the closest comic shop growing up was two towns over).

There's too much of everything. I can't choose anymore. But, I rented Sypro Reignited Trilogy on PS4 and Ghost Recon Wildlands on XBO from the library to try next week.

It's amazing how easily we can get overwhelmed by having so much easily accessable forms of media. Libraries are quickly becoming my new favorite place. The local one seems to always put out new stuff in their bookstore, and being down the street from a couple of thrifts that sell CDs for .25/.50 I can get a ton of new music for around the price of a cheeseburger.

I go to the book sales now and again. I've been on a simplicity kick lately though and trying not to accumulate any more possessions.
