I Could Have Played Other Games

I wish I could say I spent the majority of my weekend playing games that explore random galaxies, taking out the bad guy, racing, or at least driving around a copy of Los Angeles in the Batmobile listening to 90s Gangsta Rap (gotta love mods in GTA V) but instead I’ve been playing Gems of War. Yeah a match three game.

There are other games I should have jumped head first into like Chroniric XIX on iOS which is a text based game where you are in contact with a person from the future. The iPad acts like a communicator that has the looks of a steam punk texting device with occasionally multiple choice options to continue the storyline. It seems like the game wants the player to answer spontaneously instead of weighing the options, like an actual conversation. When a wrong choice is used the game will give you the option of either proceeding or going back to a save point right before the multiple choice occurs. It is a fun choose your own adventure.

Within the game the person that is communicating with you thinks you are just like them. When they realize that you are not, you have to start working together to get the person on the other end out of situations and back to safety. It kind of reminds me of Firewatch where you’re by yourself and the only thing you have is a radio.

Instead of this fun, new, interesting game I’ve been tied up on the Switch playing Gems of War. My guild rank has been promoted to Commander (donating 30k in gold a week has its perks), and I’ve been raising the level of the conquered areas to Level 5 to boost my tributes. Online I also read/watched how to create a team that maximizes the damage dealt as well as farming certain color gems to keep your turn going. I kinda follow it but I have a squad right now that mows through the AI. I also started getting into playing the mini games where you can also earn more loot. Yes it is a fun way to constantly grind so I can upgrade my current list of characters.

Other than that, this is basically what games I am playing. Nothing fancy. Well I am off, have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

That iPad game does sound interesting. I love a good choose your own adventure.

Gems of War keeps reminding me how much I want to play a new Puzzle Quest game. Why didn't they keep doing those?

I always fantasized about writing a choose your own adventure type story. Still do. Must be hard though.
