Good morning Pixlpeeps, and Happy Day 2 of Amazon Prime Day. Now I’ve been kind of waiting for Prime Day(s) even though I know it’s mostly crap and stuff I don’t need but I held out hope that there might be a digital game deal, or sd card sale that is worth it for me. The game deals leaked early and even if it looks solid, it’s nothing that jumps out to me as “Must Buy.” I do want Lego Villains but I can wait a bit longer because you know, Gems of War. The SD Card is the same. Actually I should have jumped on the 512gb card deal last week when it was $88. I think now it’s 91 and some change. I would have used that card in my music player, and swapped out the 200gb card in my music player to my Switch so I have a little more breathing room. Right now my current card has a whopping 4gb free, because I thought a 128gb would be enough. Oops.

-I discovered my first bug in NBA 2K19. Apparently my created team always loses it’s Alternate Uniform. Home and Away jerseys work fine but the alternate disappears and it isn’t even an option in game.

-More 2K19: Since the NBA is going dynamic duos, I decided I should also go the same route but instead have a dynamic trio (yeah the alliteration is lost) but I am using the most recent created rosters online, and I have taken Orlando Magic’s Shaq, Orlando Magic’s Penny Hardaway, and young LA Lakers Kobe and stuck them on the Magic. I figure I could steamroll the league, but the first game ended in a loss. I proceeded to blow out the next team and then I traded away Jimmy Butler, and Nikola Vucevic (I may have added him onto the Heat roster to create a Twin Towers tandem with Shaq) for get this, John Wall AND Bradley Beal. My backup backcourt is freaking insane.

-Gems of War is still Gems of War. In the casual guild I am in I got moved up to 2nd in command because I’m actually contributing compared to some of the other folks. I hit my minimum requirements on Monday and the rest of the week I’ll chip in here and there for stuff but I mainly use the gold to upgrade my board.

-Surprisingly my current favorite game on the Switch is that Trials game. For a bit the deluxe edition was $3 and I’ve been playing a ton of it.

-Disney Emoji Blitz I’ve hit a point where winning isn’t the most important thing anymore. I am trying to go through all the levels and the weekly friend’s list leaderboard isn’t the top priority. Don’t get me wrong I still finish in the top two but I don’t have to win every week.

-I almost bought Dance Dance Revolution on the Wii with dance pad yesterday from Goodwill. I debated but eventually put it down because I really don’t need it even if the first couple of days of me owning it would have been nothing but me sweating up a storm in workout mode listening to mid 2000s Dance Remixes.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I have a Costco run planned and I want to hit the local thrift stores before going when Costco opens (I don’t like people, and the people that are there this early are the ones who own restaurants and they’re restocking booze. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I've been debating getting a larger card for my Switch. I forget what I have though... but it's filling up. I'll need it for the fall, there are a bunch of games I'm planning to get then.

It's a pretty good time to pickup a micro sd card. Prices are good like the 256gb card I think is under $40 on Amazon. Crazy to think that I maybe two years ago I spent that much on a 128gb card and thought it was a deal.

I am running 2 Micro SD Cards (1 at a time of course) in my Switch. a 400 GB which is pretty much full and a 512 GB that I just started filling up a few weeks back.

My Prime pick ups were a pair of Sennheiser 599 SE open back headphones that I am listening to right now and they are great.

I also picked up a box set of all the Simon and Garfunkel albums on vinyl. I've played the GH album through my 599's earlier tonight and it sounds fantastic. 1 minor skip on side 2 but otherwise completely free of any noise except the music.

I had a similar setup with my Vita. I had a couple of cards that I would swap out.

I saw that deal, damn good headphones. I love that Sennheiser sound and I think I tried the regular 599 and they sound really good. Sucks about the skip, hoping it's nothing more than some dust instead of a flaw.

Yeah the one problem with detailed headphones when listening to vinyl is that they are very unforgiving of flaws in the media. Minor clicks and pops that are not audible when listening through speakers are easy to detect with the HD 599's. Not so it detracts from the music but they are there.

Having them has prompted me to go through all of my newly purchased vinyl to see how they sound.

My biggest disappointment so far has been the newly reissued half speed master of Japan's Gentlemen take Polaroids. It's on two records that play at 45 RPM. Remastered on 180 gram vinyl

Listened to side one through the headphones and the noise is awful during quieter passages. It clicks and pops away like one of my 40 year old albums. Louder parts mask it but it is still there. Very annoying.

Switching to side 4 and it's almost totally clean.

I know you like to play some of the free mobile games, so have you tried Dr. Mario World yet?

Can you believe there was a Mario DDR game on the GameCube?  My brother Jeff loved those DDR games and he's pretty good at them!

I did try Dr Mario. I was waiting for the release and gave it a try on release day. I haven't played much, I just wanted to see how it plays.

I remember that version. It looked like fun but I didn't have a Gamecube so I never got to try it out.

I remember why I stopped playing Gems of War a few years ago, even though I really liked it. It was that free-to-play thing where the game suddenly gets hard and encourages you to buy stuff. Oh well, it was so much like Puzzle Quest. I want a new Puzzle Quest that's not free-to-play.

I'm having problems with the Pet Rescue every week. I get to a certain point and bam! it becomes insanely difficult. I promised myself I will not use real money in this game and so far I'm sticking with it. I found a nice mix for a squad where I can control the pace of the game once I get rolling (I use a guy who creates yellow orbs so I wait until I can make a string of 4+ which then powers up another guy who uses the yellow orbs and clears out three rows of the game board. If I can time it right, I can get this going for at least 4 turns)

Love Puzzle Quest. I played the Marvel Puzzle Quest for a bit but lost interest. I did play a lot of the one on DS. I wonder now if it was part of my garage sale.

I should go back to Puzzle Quest. I left a few achievements undone. I think I even never beat the final boss.

Marvel Puzzle Quest on console was a disappointment to me visually. I thought it would look better but, clearly, they just ported it from iOS and it didn't look too good.
