¡Hola Pixlbit! I am writing now because I might go out on Saturday to hit the local library and thrift stores to see what has been brought out since last week. Yeah I’m a little late but I’m here now and let’s do some recaps of what’s been going on.

Chris Watches…

-It’s Tour de France season and I’ve been watching. I like the views of France, and the bike racing is good too. I’m happy the commentators interviewed Lance Armstrong because love him or hate him he is part of the history of the sport.

-I’m sick of Big Brother this season. The cast isn’t a group that I like. Last season we had a solid cast that was fun to watch. This season they all seem horrible except for Cliff.

-Wrestling is bleh right now.

-I dig the new Top Gun trailer. It’s odd seeing Maverick in anything but an F-14 but that’s how it is now.

Chris Reads…

-I finished my Goodreads goal of 12 books for the year with The Cuban Missle Crisis by Hourly History. These are short books that give you bare bones info on the subject. I had some idea of what went on but these books are good supplemental forms of information.

-I started two new books: Hourly History’s Teddy Roosevelt, and Jane Austin’s Complete Collection. Currently I have three books that need to be finished.

New Toy:

Yesterday morning while roaming around Walmart, I spotted a new tablet, their house brand Onn has an 8 inch tablet with 2GB ram, 16GB storage and the same screen as my current Android tablet. The best part is that the Onn tablet costs $65. It’s a solid replacement for my Asus tablet that I use mainly to read books.

01

The $65 tablet.

First Impressions: The body feels pretty good. The back is plastic, one speaker on the bottom which means its not going to sound good. Not a problem. No logos on the face but there is an Onn logo on the bottom back corner of the tablet.

Setup was easy since I already have a Google Account so everything was available. The one minor problem I found was that on the touchscreen buttons (Back, Home, and Currently Running Apps) has a 4th button, the Walmart button that brings up the screen with Walmart’s bloatware apps: Walmart, Grocery, Books, and one other app. In other features the camera is not good, and it’s slow when loading the OS.

Now my primary use for this tablet is for reading. I like this over a dedicated reading tablet like the Kindle’s because I might want to read randoms from Reddit or check Twitter. I could use my iPad and I do for reading, but having this smaller form almost feels like a book to me. I also slapped my 128GB card into it and I installed my Rocket Music Player App so I can listen to music and sync it to iTunes. I’m currently making a new Coffee Shop Playlist.

It’s a solid little tablet, it isn’t any high powered beast but I really don’t have a need for something like that. Web browsing was a lot faster than the Asus tablet, syncing the Kindle App is a lot faster. For $65 it isn’t bad and if you just want something for casual use like reading on an App, web surfing, and casual games it’s fine. Anything more and you might want to invest in something more expensive.

Other Pickups:

Games

From Amazon

04

Ok so this game is $25 on Amazon. If you add it to your cart it becomes $16.31 after taxes. Not bad, right? Wait it gets better: If you have Prime and have linked it to Twitch you get $15 credit for certain games that you buy and this one is one of those games. So I’m getting this game for basically $1.31. The $15 credit I’m going to add it with another $15 credit and maybe use that towards the new Marvel game. I should get my credits next week so we shall see.

Music:

I bought my uncle a gig bag for his guitar on Amazon which means I triggered the price point for Add-On Items so I added a $5 CD that has been on my list for some time now

05

DJ Quik’s Way 2 Fonky. Gotta love early 90s West Coast Rap!

I bought $6 worth of quarter CDs from 2 thrift shops and the library but this one stands out

06

I found my 5th Autographed CD. This time it’s Leeann Womack. Not bad.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I created the Dream Team in NBA 2K19, placed them on the Clippers and replaced their jerseys with Dream Team jerseys so it’s time to run wild on the league. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I want to see a celebrity deathmatch between Teddy Roosevelt and Jane Austin.

You got Starlink. Cool. I want to try that game when it goes on sale. $1.31 is kinda crazy though.

That's like a small dog's eye view of DJ Quik on that cover.

I reviewed Starlink on the Switch.  The StarFox stuff was pretty neat.  It's a decent game.  I hear it didn't do well, though.
