Connecting The Switch To The TV & Free Bastion On iOS

Last week I decided to connect my Switch Dock to the TV and give the Switch a try on the big screen for a week to see how I like it. I like it but this opened up another door of gaming, here’s why: I have a couple of HDMI ports on the TV, so awhile ago I bought this switcher that adds three extra slots and takes up one HDMI slot on the TV. Plugged it in, connected the USB cable to the TV’s USB to power it and I was back to a couple of years ago when I had a bunch of stuff connected. In this one slot I have my Switch, the return of the 360, and the PS4. I have those connected along with the PS3 and I’m golden but like I said it opened up another door.

Since I have the 360 plugged I want to jump back into those games and to dip my toe back in the XBox waters I played some NCAA Football 13 and man the recruiting tool on there is so odd compared to 14. I should have bought NCAA Football 14 when it was $8. I looked through my games and I want to jump back into the Gears of War series. I have the ones released on 360 so I want to start all over and play through them. This shouldn’t be a problem because I really didn’t play much of the first game. This will be my big return to the 360.

For the PS4 I’ll still play it, I mean I still have Destiny 2 sitting there so I can casually wander, shoot things, get into trouble and get bailed out by that flying thing.

So what else has this little event of connecting the Switch to the TV made happen? Last night I went through the App Store on the iPad and looked for old games I own to play on my current iPad. The sad part is that some games are not available on my iPad like the Dead Space iPad game, some old driving games, and other goodies that I’ve enjoyed in the past. This is one of my worries about digital games; losing them because they are not compatible with newer hardware.

All of this because I wanted to try Gems of War on the big screen.

Still Playing

-Gems Of War - Switch: some new folks in the guild are kicking in coin to unlock stuff. I’m a happy camper

-WWE 2K18 - Switch: I bought the accelerator DLC which basically unlocks all the wrestlers. I did this so when my brother and I play Battle Royal we will have everyone not in the DLC packs. It also lets me edit the ratings of the roster so I made Alexa Bliss a Supergirl which is fun to do some mindless matches when I don’t want to get into career mode.

I also continued with my created character Scott Nash and he’s currently in NXT. I have to say I really don’t care about the story because it plays like its realistic with the journey of the wrestler but then tries to do some kayfabe stuff. It’s weird having to go talk to the producer, check the white board and pick matches, talk to other superstars, etc.

There are problems with this game. Load times are Sega CD long, and I can’t lead a current Superstar in a career mode. Like I said I gave Alexa Bliss god like abilities, I’d like to run through the roster and win all the belts.

-NCAA Football 14 - PS3: I started a new career as an Offensive Coordinator, and went 13-1 with UCLA, and then took the Hawaii HC job. I’ll stay with this team for a season or two and then move on.

-Riptide 2 - iOS: downloaded this game last night and I’ve been playing a little bit in the morning. Still the same fun game and man it looks really good on the iPad.

Started Playing

-Preemptive Strike - Switch: it’s a funky shooter game on the Switch. Think a 3/4 view of a shoot’em up that’s slow.

-Bastion - iOS: For you folks who love this game and own an iDevice. Download it, and go to the settings and purchase it. Right now it’s free but you need to “purchase” (the purchase price is $0.00, just hit buy). It’s the same game on 360 and I’m assuming the Switch. I’m gonna play through it on the iPad.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. Breakfast today is my left over Big Carl sandwich from Carl’s Jr. (Hardees for you Midwest/East Coast folks). I had a coupon to upgrade it to the three patty version and I got a free sandwich with the one I ordered. Apparently two of these burgers = a whole cow. I ate half my first sandwich last night at lunch and was done for the rest of the day. Anyways have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

In my "retro" room where I have 4 minis, a 360 and my Wii U I switched out my clunky old 27" flat screen for an 27" ASUS computer monitor. I had a 4 port HDMI switch on it but the audio from the monitor was hideous.

On Amazon I found a 5 port HDMI switch with an audio extractor. I had a little 30 watt amp, a pair of speakers, some RCA interconnects and speaker cable I was going to get rid of. At least that's the story for my wife when she tells me I'm a pack rat.

Now they provide the sound in that room and that extra equipment has been repurposed. :)

I played Bastion on PS4 recently. Bought it on a sale. I really liked it. I should go back and replay to unlock everything.

I've been playing switch docked so I can enjoy dq11's orchestral soundtrack. I like the classic/pro controller a lot. Joycon suck.

I downloaded the update to bastion too.
