Welcome to the 7th Annual Chris Goes Awards Show, but since it’s the end of a decade I’m going to skip some numbers (it worked for the iPhone, it’ll probably work here) and go for the my best of the decade. A little disclaimer here: I can’t remember what I played during the early part of the decade but there are games that stood out to me so I’m going to call them the Best of the Decade. Sound good? Let’s get started!

Favorite Android Game

android

Asphalt 7 - 2012

This was my first must have game on my then new Nexus 7 tablet. I spent a whooping .99 cents and my Android mobile gaming was off and running. This is a game that I played a bunch of not only on Android but later on the iPad, and other portable devices.

Favorite iOS Game

Simpsons Tapped Out - 2012

I may have been borderline obsessed with this city builder game, where it was your job to rebuild Springfield after Homer blew it up. I had one hell of a town, and saw all of the upgrades and obsessed over earning donuts to get the premium items. I think I spent a good 6 years playing this game when eventually I said it was time to retire from the game. I didn’t like how having in game currency eventually became almost useless and it was taking up a lot of time. We had a good run.

Favorite Mobile Game

mobile

Temple Run - 2011

Now I decided to have a mobile section dedicated to both iOS and Android because there were a handful of games that I would play on both and the big game was Temple Run. I started playing this on I believe the Nexus 7, and then started up another game on the iPod Touch. This was a fun endless runner that you could constantly play without having a freemium cap. I unlocked all the upgrades, and all the runners and I think I actually bought the Usain Bolt runner. I loved this series to the point where I actually paid money for the Wizard of Oz, and Disney’s Brave.

Favorite Nintendo 3DS Game

n3ds

Super Mario Land - 2011

I got in on the 3DS love a bit later in its life cycle but one of my goals was to play the Super Mario games and this one is my favorite. It was fun playing a new take on a franchise I really didn’t play much after the SNES. This game didn’t have trophies or achievements but it was a lot of fun, and that’s the real prize.

Favorite Nintendo Switch Game

nswitch

Gems Of War - 2014

I think it’s kind of silly to include the Switch considering it’s the newest but I needed to represent it and the one game I know I sunk in the most time is the freebie Gems of War. I’m in a fun guild playing match 3 games, unlocking and upgrading cards, and playing against other people’s squads around the world. It’s fun and for maybe 10 minutes here and there throughout the day it’s a lot of fun.

Favorite Nintendo Wii Game

nwii

Mariokart - 2008

Ok this game was released before this decade but I didn’t get into the Wii until maybe the middle of the decade. It’s another one of those reconnecting games that I got to enjoy after a long hiatus with the franchise. It was still all the fun of previous games and I got to hold a plastic steering wheel and looking ridiculous. As odd as the Wii motion controls are this one was enjoyable and after awhile you don’t notice it….but you do know you look ridiculous while winning races.

Favorite PC/Steam Game

pcsteam

Grand Theft Auto V - 2013

You know why I love this game on PC more than the Playstations? Because yesterday I drove around in the ‘89 Batmobile with lowrider rims in the snow, while shooting exploding ammo and not one wanted star appeared. Oh the mods breathe new life into this game and doing wild and crazy things like the stuff you would see in Saints Row is the ultimate for me. After I type this I’m going to go back and try and create some new random creations with the upgrades for the regular cars before going back and causing a crime wave in the Batmobile.

Favorite PS3 Game

ps3

NCAA Football 14 - 2013

Why is this my favorite game on the console? I’m a huge college sports fan, and I’ve been playing this game consistently since it’s release. FYI: I’ve been playing this franchise since 1998, and before that I played the Sega Genesis College Sports game that had the SDSU squad with Marshall Faulk and Darnay Scott. There are some funky things that still go on with the game like how some of Notre Dame’s DLC uniforms will crash the game, but other than that I still pick random teams to build up in Dynasty Mode.

Favorite PS4 Game

ps4

Batman Arkham Knight - 2015

This was the big game for me on the PS4 game. I enjoyed the 1st game, re played the 2nd game after this, and this got to see the end of the storyline with Knight…also there was a new Batmobile to roam around in (I always thought it was funny for a guy who doesn’t kill, he drives around in a car with a freaking cannon). Love the game, I still think the PS4 is an amazing machine with a really loud speaker in the controller.

Favorite PSP Game

psp

Fight Night Round 3 - 2006

Again another late game but considering that I still played a lot of the PSP throughout 2010-2019 and now through emulator on the laptop, this is the must play game for me. I mean how do you not love trying to beat the crap out of the other guy, knocking him down, training your fighter and doing it all over again. Boxing is a sport I don’t watch yet I love the games. It’s weird.

Favorite PS Vita Game

psvita

Borderlands 2 - 2012

Playing on the Vita didn’t give me motion sickness which means I finally got to enjoy this series and for a long while this game never left my Vita. I remember times when I would kill the battery just roaming around and trying to unlock weapons. I’ve played this game again on Steam with mods which adds to the game but nothing will ever replace the joy of being able to play this game for hours without getting sick (I get a dizzy on the PC so I can only play in 30 minute increments).

Favorite XBox 360 Game

x360

Saints Row IV - 2013

I was on the 360 Bandwagon late in his life cycle (like when the X1 was released) but I got to play an enjoy a lot of games that were exclusive to the 360 (thank you to you good people with recommendations), but the one game that I enjoyed the most was a multi console game that I kinda want to buy again on the Switch. I loved this game because it was over the top GTA that was raunchy, ultra violent, and hilarious. I played it multiple times because of this and it is still one of my favorite games today.

Well there it is, my favorites of the decade. I may have missed some but it was fun to go back and figure out which games truly meant something to me. If you have favorites share them. I might find new games to play.

Have a good week!

That’s all for now,more later!

I think your gaming laptop is faster than my laptop so it can probably run it.

You would think so, but as I told the PC Master Race people, things can sometimes be a toss-up even when made for Windows 10 architecture and I have more than the necessary specs.

If it's on sale, I'll give it a shot though.

I still can't imagine playing Borderlands 2 on Vita. I guess it might be cool though. Kind of wish I hadn't traded in my Vita recently, but they didn't make a lot of games for it I wanted to play anyway.

Fight Night Round 3 on PSP? I didn't know they did that. I played it on 360 on a whim and loved it. I don't follow boxing either but it's fun in games.

I came to Saints Row late too with Gat Out of Hell but I played IV a bit after that and loved it. My customized player was a brocoli guy baller, if that makes any sense. I guess that's the point though in SRIV.

It was so much fun to have and be able to play on the go. Yeah it is sad the Vita library isn't as robust as other Playstation libraries. The hardware is solid and I didn't have the nub problem like I did with the PSP.

Yeah the graphics are funky but the gameplay is there. The only difference is using the buttons instead of a right stick for the punches.

I liked Gat Out Of Hell, but by the time I got to it I was starting to get Saints burnout.

I loved the Vita. I think I just didn't have much time for handheld gaming as I thought when I got it. It turned me on to OLED screen technology though.

I had played a little bit of Saints Row 2 before but didn't get into it. Gat Out of Hell though. I 100% finished that game and then went on to IV. For some reason I didn't quite finish it. I think my friend Mark stopped playing, so I did too. We played Gat Out of Hell co-op a lot.

Damn, man. Still playing Simpsons Tapped Out? That's impressive. I played a little and it was funny, but I got tired of it.

Nah I haven't touched it in a couple of years. I felt it deserved a spot in the all decade because of how much time I sunk into it. It was a damn fine game in its era.

With all you played, it deserves a spot in your hall of fame! Tongue Out
