Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is going to be a warmer than usual day here in Southern California, but for right now I have the heater going but eventually it will be turned off and I’ll let some of that mid 70s breeze on through. So what have I been playing? Well I haven’t started Gears of War yet, so there’s that, but I did entertain my younger cousin, a second grader who plays nothing but Fortnite with something he’s never seen before…a console. His mind was blown that you could play games on TV and I let him play some Nintendo Wii.

My Cousin Played On The Wii…

Mariokart: Since he drives one of those raced out Go-Karts I thought he would be at home with Mariokart and the steering. Well in the Mushroom Cup 50cc he finished dead last in all the races. Second time around he finished first in the first race, talked a lot of 2nd grader trash and then proceeded to finish last in the next three. It’s a start, he liked shooting turtle shells but driving in the grass and mud was his problem.

Ghost Squad: I mean how can you not enjoy a light gun game where you roam around and shoot bad guys? He was aiming way too high for the sensor bar to keep track so this was a no go.

Toy Story Mania: This was actually a good game for the guy because you throw pies at Woody and Buzz. He got a kick out of that.

After a good hour or so (including a certain older cousin just crushing it on the Mushroom Cup 50cc circuit) it was time to go back to Lego.

What Chris Played…

GTA V - Steam: So I removed the 66 Batmobile from my spawn cars because the dang thing was glitchy and when I quit the game while in the car trying to close the Rockstar window was almost impossible because the mouse kept shaking. I did add a working Ford Bronco (yeah my custom plate is OJ32, and I only drive it on the freeways), and the same model Mustang as Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds. The only drawback is that I can’t turn the racing stripe to black. As for the actual game I finished the ambush at the museum level (its supposed to be the Getty Center in LA) and I have to do some smaller missions for Michael, Trevor, and Franklin and I’m basically finished with the main storyline.

After finishing that stuff I’m going to go back to adding user designed buildings and race tracks for Los Santos. It was fun having modded buildings and raceways around the city.

Lego DC Villains - Switch: I knocked out another level, I believe there is maybe 6 more left before I finish the story mode. Since I play the level first and then free play afterwards I’m a bit slow when it comes to progression but once all of that is finished all I have to do is the DLC, and the Open World stuff like races and mini missions.

NBA 2K19 - Switch: I decided to create virtua Chris but with the skills of the greatest basketball player on Earth and make a team. I picked the Denver Nuggets and I have a squad of 13 5’9” PGs against the current NBA roster. The first game against the Clipper I only won by 3. It wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be so I kicked up the height to 6’8” and dropped the game length to 3 min quarters and now it’s like the Dream Team vs Angola but every game.

Gems Of War - Switch: Still cruising along, but I did unlock a medal so I have one medal on my main screen. I have no idea what it does, probably something like boosts some stat, but it’s there. I’m working on unlocking another medal, and playing some PVP. I’ve actually calmed down on PVP, where before I would also be in Tier 1, now if I get to under Tier 10 I call it a win. I’m basically playing long enough where I meet the Clan requirements and then go do other things.

That’s my first gaming week for 2020. Nothing fancy. Anyways I am off. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I always thought I'd be able to play video games with my neices and nephews but it never ever happened. I seem to miss every important moment in life.

That sucks man. Hopefully there's something down the road that you can share with them

I kind of doubt it now. They're all too old and I don't see my one sister's family anymore. But never say never.

I liked Mario Kart Wii a lot.  It's one of my favorite titles in the series.

LEGO DC Super Villians is a bit darker than other LEGO titles, and that's what makes it neat.

I played the Wii version more than any other. I know some people have problems with it, but online play was new to me and I loved it. I loved that autumn tree track the best.

Mariokart Wii is a solid game, but I'm more of a 3DS guy. I think it's because after taking a long break from the N64 game it was the first kart game I played when I jumped back in. Wii and Switch are fun, but I can always go back to the 3DS and enjoy the hell out of it.

I like Villains, it was fun to be the bad guy in games but still be hilarious.
