Good morning Pixlpeeps! I waited until today to write because it was MLK Day on Monday, and I was cleaning, I was hoping to finish GTA V’s Main Story for the bazillionth time (I’m on the last big mission), and I wanted to wait for this guy to show up in my mailbox. I was on the fence about buying this for a bit, in particular which one to buy. Do I get the smaller one that fits phones or do I go bigger form factor for small tablets. I decided with the one for phones because I would most likely carry around the smaller stuff than a 7” tablet.

01

So I bought this on Amazon for $25 and it arrived yesterday for me to test out. A little backstory: a couple of years ago I bought a prepaid phone that I wanted to use as a music player replacement for my phone. I bought this Android phone for $50 that I used for music right up until I got my Fiio M3K and now I sometimes use it to play games and control the speaker in my bathroom when I’m in the shower (thanks waterproof pouch). Since it only gets used for that why not give it new life as an emulator machine? So here we are.

02

Out of the box the Ipega is a plastic controller with a telescopic middle section that expands to fit your phone, decent buttons that are backlit, the d-pad is a little mushy and the joysticks are not that bad. The shoulder buttons feel like a cheap Playstation controller but hey it’s $25. It connects via Bluetooth, and at first I had problems getting it to talk to my phone until I put it in Mode 3, and now everything works like a dream.

Size comparison between my first portable emulator, the one that plays Genesis games and this guy.

Here it is with the phone inside the controller, playing PSP games. I got the apps on Google Play and I am going to give this new handheld a spin over the next week and on my trip.

Chris Played…

Here are some new-ish games that I played that are not named Gems of War and Lego DC Villains:

Grand Theft Auto V - PC: I am on the last mission after completing the big two missions before it. There might be a handful of folks who haven’t played it yet, so I am leaving out info but I it’s time to end the story which is fine because once I finish it, I’ll play some side missions, and then restart the whole thing over again.

05

Here’s Franklin in an add-on car mod right before he takes care of business. Have I mentioned how much I love to add cars in the game?

Disney Emoji Blitz - iOS: While playing I saw something I’ve never seen before

06

Apparently you can’t use certain emojis in certain weekly events. I get why but it sucks.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I’ll play more of my new toy this week and give you some impressions. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

That phone controller is pretty cool. I'm going to try syncing my Xbox controller to my phone at some point, but I like what you got.

I haven't been playing as many mobile games on my iPad, but I haven't been playing too much in general. I really want to get back into it, just have a lot on my mind these days.
