Ok so before I tackle the final three teams in the NFL card cataloging I need to write out this blog entry or else I will be doing it at 9pm local time while watching bad wrestling (WWE). Also AEW > WWE Raw/SmackDown and it is not even close. So here I am and let’s get started before I get sidetracked and end up decided I need to find a better way to catalog my cards.
Chris Watches…
Community - Netflix: Yeah I said I would watch only new stuff on Netflix but I think in two days I went through Season 1 of Community and was quickly reminded why this was my favorite show on TV. It’s so good, so many little Easter Eggs, a ton off smart quick jokes, and just the dynamic that the group has. I miss this show it should have been this good through it’s entire run.
Easily one of the best scenes in the show
The Last Dance - ESPN: I love…LOVE The Chicago Bulls, even if they are not good and don’t love me back (I think this is finally changing with new leadership) This is the story of the final Championship the Bulls had before the leadership of the time decided to blow it up and we got the Brent Berry era. This is easily one of the best Docs in the history of ESPN, right up there with the 30 for 30’s The U, and The U Part 2.
The last team intro is even on my music player, and yes I own the Chicago Bulls Greatest Hits CDs.
Still watching The Challenge, AEW, and both Raw and SmackDown. Also instead of the news I’ve been watching old episodes off California’s Gold with Huell Howser. I’ve mentioned it before but it’s a PBS show where the late Huell Howser would go to random places in California and do a story about it.
It’s a little cheesy but its fun, and you can never have too many laughs.
Chris Reads…
I’m back on the “grind” and I am going back to graphic novels on audiobook. Remember the DC ones that were billed as “Movies for your Mind?” Well I started with the Marvel Phase Series which are audiobooks of the Cinematic Universe so they could be billed as “Actual Movies for your Mind.” I tried out Captain America: Civil War on Thursday, finished it, and last night decided to jump in from the beginning and take in Captain America: The First Avenger from Phase One set. The next book is The Incredible Hulk but I might skip it, check out the Iron Man books next. I’m trying to follow this chart
But I have some missing books in it. Maybe I’ll just watch the actual movie.
Pickups
I got my crazy Costco order in a couple of days ago (major props to UPS guy) and I’ve been enjoying my box of Famous Amos snack packs. The snack bin also has chips, crackers, and other random foods that are really bad for you. Also thanks to InstaCart for doing the actual shopping because I don’t want to deal with the crazy right now.
Games: Zip. Still playing my ragtag collection I have. I kinda want to buy that Uncharted Game with the two women on the cover.
Music: Same as games….but I did buy an Audiobook player for my Android device because apparently the music player I have does not support audiobooks. I went on Google and it brought up a Reddit page that raved about the Smart Audiobook Player. I tried it out, and then proceeded to buy the full version for $2.
There is a lot going on in that screen but the things I care about are the speed of the track and easy to use interface. 1.7 is my current sweet spot for speed, and the app runs smoothly, just point it in the right direction for files and you’re golden.
Card Stuff:
Going through my cards I remembered I lost one of my Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader cards and it bugged me so I decided to check out my newest online friend eBay. Fast forward to last week, found the card I needed and $7 later (2, for the card, 5 for shipping) I got the card to complete my set
Fun story: when I bought the set it set back 8th grade Chris $5. That was a lot of money for a kid who's allowance was $10 a week.
Also I bought more boxes
3, 3,200 count boxes. Hopefully this is enough storage for my card collection.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off, have a good weekend!…WASH YOUR HANDS!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
Yeah for a couple of years the DCC had their own cards. In 94 I believe there was this weird run of cheerleader cards, random girls in bikinis and sexy clothes cards, and I believe Playboy released a set of cards. Good times for collecting.
Yep time flies...heck its almost May.
I need to watch Community period. Never seen it before. I started episode 1 some time ago, but work distracted me.
The Last Dance is good so far, but as someone who was not really super aware of what was happening during the time period as an 8-year-old, I am hoping they go into more depth in the later episodes ... and of course they will. I'd say I enjoyed watching the first two episodes but didn't necessarily find them riveting, but it's such a big deal from my childhood I'll definitely watch the rest.
Community is a good show, and it starts rolling after episode 1, give it a watch.
It is interesting to see how all the characters on that Bulls squad all came together right because they knew it was the last time, kinda like the plot in Major League. Around here people were getting tired of the Bulls Dynasty and the Lakers were starting to make some noise (wasn't a fan of the Lakers run but I did love watching Shaq and Kobe do their thing).
Oh my god that is such a weird feeling. One minute you're in the hip crowd the next there's something else that is hip and you have no idea. I've been there....and they're wrong!
The Marvel books are fun. The books are a little diffent from the movies but you do get into them. Right now I am "reading" an Iron Man book that takes place I want to say between Iron Man and Iron Man 2, but there are some characters that show up in Iron Man 3.
