Quick Hits: I Forgot It Was Friday

Good morning Pixlpeeps! Apparently it’s Friday (I thought it was Thursday), and I’ve been not here for maybe two weeks? Probably two weeks. Anyways let’s catch up with some of the non gaming stuff I’ve been doing.

Chris Watches…

Six Feet Under - HBO On Demand: One of my friends recommended this show to me and at first I was a little hesitant because I don’t want to watch a show about dead bodies but as I watched I started to get into it. This show came out in 2001 and it revolves around an independed Funeral Home run by the Fisher family. A sudden tragedy brings them together and soon they all realize that they need each other despite their crazy lives. For a show that revolves around a Funeral Home, there are a lot of funny moments. I finished Season 1, and I will probably start Season 2 later on today.

The Challenge All Stars - Paramount Plus: It’s the Challenge but for the old alumni who probably can’t run with the regular Challenge. It was a good season, minimal drama, lots of fun, and on the reunion you could tell who’s angling themselves to be cast as the villain (and trying to be on next season).

Also still watching Pitch Perfect, 90 Day Fiance, and that’s basically it when it comes to regular TV. I started watching the new Star Wars cartoon but I lost interest halfway through the first episode. I’ll probably catch up later on.

Chris & DVDs…

I’m in the process of cleaning out the garage and I dumped a bunch of art projects from college but one of the more interesting things I found was a duffle bag filled with more of my DVDs. Apparently for someone who doesn’t watch a lot of movies, I bought a lot of movies. Since I’m in this sleeker media phase, I’ve decided to rip all my DVDs and have them live on a hard drive. I tried this once, but never followed it to completion but now I want to have everything living on a drive in the event I want to stream it around the house, or load it onto a device for when I am on a trip and need something to watch. I’m using a program called WonderFox, and the interface is really easy to use and saves me a lot of time looking for the actual movie file on a disc. Two clicks and it’s ripping in the background. I’m currently ripping a movie while typing this.

Chris Listens To…

I got to go to Target last week and I bought a couple of CDs, which feels good to have new stuff added to the library. I also bought a couple of songs off of iTunes because of my constant watching of Pitch Perfect.

Check this out: I have Amazon Music, because it comes with Prime. One day while I was out I forgot to bring my music player so all I had was my phone so I decided to see what they offered. The regular Pitch Perfect soundtrack was only available on Amazon’s ultra premium streaming service, but….BUT the Ultimate version of the soundtrack was available on regular Amazon Music. It makes zero sense.

Pickups

The one gaming item I bought was this from Ross for $7

01

I really didn’t read the packaging and well I don’t have a Mini SNES but I did see that I could buy an adaptor and use it on my laptop like I originally intended. I haven’t got around to buying the adaptor. I haven’t jumped on any recent game deals but while adding the June Amazon Games to my account I noticed that Battlefield 4 was one of the freebies. The same Battlefield that Amazon was selling two weeks ago for $4 and I jumped on it. I gave my code to a cousin.

Music

This is where I did some damage, lets start with the songs I bought because of Pitch Perfect

02

I bought La Roux’s Bulletproof and The Bellas rendition of Love On Top from iTunes. Both were $1.29 or whatever the going rate is.

Staying on iTunes I bought two albums, one last week, and one a couple of minutes ago:

03

DMX’s posthumous album Exodus was from last week, and the John Wick Soundtrack for the single Think by Kaleida. DMX was $7, and John Wick was $5.

The next albums I bought are physical CDs and I got from Target and Walmart. From Target

04

Did CDs get more expensive? The Taylor Swift album was $18 and I believe the Pentatonix was $14. Usually one of them would $10 and the other $13 at the most.

From Walmart while buying bottled water I picked up this album for $5

05

The last pickup I bought over the past two weeks were these earbuds I saw a review on YouTube. I was skeptical especially because they are like $15, and the bootleg Airpods I bought for $12 are terrible. These sound pretty good.

06

The best part is they are $15 and when they fall apart I can toss them and not feel bad unlike my Beats Wireless 2.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. There is a trip to the Home Depot in my future and I am planning on visiting the stores next to it (Five Below, and Marshalls before it becomes extremely hot here in sunny Southern California.) Have a good one!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

That's a cool controller for a laptop.

Aw too bad you don't have a SNES Mini.  I love that thing.  I named it my GOTY when it came out.  But then, the SNES is my top favorite console of all time.

I might be able to use a wireless SNES Mini Controller ...
