It is Friday Pixlbit, and we have cross the BaD Finish Line! Another year has passed and for everyone who participated congrats! I’m going to find it a little odd to not post something everyday next week, but it will be good to go back to my usual two blogs a week. Since it is Friday here in “rainy” (in my neck of the woods it’s overcast and every once in a while sprinkles…STORM WATCH 2014!) For this week’s Quick Hits I thought I’d cover my thoughts on new Survivor, Added more folks to the Mii Plaza, Quick Update on my baseball game, and Pickups! Sound good? Well heck let’s get this final BaD started!

Chris Watches Survivor

So a couple of days ago with one of my friends urging me to watch I finally took in an episode of Survivor. The last Survivor I actually watched was the first season when everyone rooted for Colleen because she was the nice one

…and didn’t win.

After that I really didn’t are about the show, but my friend urged me to watch because it might be interesting, and we like Reality Shows. After watching the special supersized episode which was two episodes in one, I might be hooked again. I have a couple of thoughts about the first supersize episode:

  • Didn’t the Florida Marlins President have something better to do…like run the Marlins? This was filmed during last season when the 10s of fans watched the Fish
  • How did the Poker player end up with Team Brains? Dude was dumb, maybe he needed the sunglasses and playing with poker chips
  • The cop making the spy shack…yeah nobody is going to notice that half dome thing you spent your time making. My friend made a comment that he might as well hang a “Not a spy shack” sign
  • Former Trailblazer Cliff Robinson is in the show, and everyone loves him. He seems cool, and I’m rooting for him because he played when I used to watch a lot of NBA, but I’m waiting for someone to do the Jordan shoulder shrug when they beat him in an event
  • If you go on these shows, how do you know not watch every episode of Survivorman or Bear Grylls’ shows?

I think I’ll stick with this show, because there is no Vanderpump Rules or The Challenge until next season. I also want to see how the spy shack turns out.

Mii Plaza

A couple of days ago I went on a little trip to the local GameStop and Best Buy so I brought my Big Gameboy with me so I can add new folks to the Mii Plaza, and earn more gold coins

I added six more folks including this guy

My Baseball Player

After being sent down to Double A, my player was offered a spot with the Red Sox, so of course I took it. I think I am eight games in and he’s hitting around .300 with a home run and a handful of RBIs. I’m hoping my player doesn’t get sent down to the minors.

Pickups!

Games

A Target that is in the next town had a couple of 3DS games that they dropped to $10 like Shinobi, a Rainbow Six game, and on Up on the DS. I ended up buying this game

I think I’ll leave the stylus in the box, and most likely not use it. I haven’t tried any of the other game modes yet other than Marathon, but it’s Tetris so you can’t go wrong with at least one game mode.

I did buy this game because I didn’t want to make room on my memory card, and I also wanted the physical version

I still added the PS+ version to my account so if/when there is a Vita II, or if I get a bigger memory stick it’ll be one less game to carry with me.

I added these two games to the 360 Digital Library

I really enjoyed Saints III, so when it went on sale I downloaded a copy along with some American pack that includes a plane and a gun. I bought Puzzle Quest because it’s a match-3 game that I liked on Android. I should be reading what’s going on but I’m not really paying any attention to it. Marvel Puzzle Quest needs to be the next one on the 360!

Music

I didn’t add any new albums this week because I don’t want to make a trip to the local mom & pop, and the thrifts don’t have anything new. I did however find this

I didn’t know about this mixtape created by a guy named Bullion, but someone described it to being similar to Danger Mouse’s Grey Album where he combined Jay-Z’s Black album with the Beatles White Album. In Pet Sounds it’s the Beach Boys and J-Dilla. I haven’t added it to iTunes yet, but I am currently listening to it on YouTube.

I watch a lot of the Voice, and I tell my friend, this show always gets me to spend money, and I finally got to sit and watch the second day’s performances and I bought two singles

There’s a service on your iDevice called Disney Movies Anywhere that lets you stream Disney films to your devices and if you connect it to your iTunes account, they add a digital copy of the Incredibles to your account. I thought it was cool to have a free movie and if you good people are interested click on the link.

And before we end this blog, I decided on my phone wallpaper

Miley Cyrus’s Wreckingball in the Sonic Universe. This choice will probably change by the end of the weekend.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I had a very disappointing trip to a Good Will today. But then again, that one is usually only good for clothes and household goods. Jason found a suit jacket he liked, though, so I guess it wasn't a totally wasted trip.

Ooh always check the Suit Jackets, there can be some treasures to be found. I found a Hugo Boss that cost something like $10 with dry cleaning. Music can be hit and miss though. I blame the hipsters.

Don't watch many Reality shows, unless they're cooking related.

I used to be an avid Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, and Chopped watcher but now it's just Hell's Kitchen (if I remember when it's on), and Chopped on a rerun.

This puddle they filmed warranting flash flood warnings and accidents in San Diego is cracking me up http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/feb/27/flash-flood-California/ Please tell me they just couldn't find a bigger puddle to film behind those parked cars! Hahhahahah Laughing Sorry, but as a Texan, that's hilarious. Feel free to laugh at us for WINTER STORM 2013 coverage due to a bit of snow, though.

I'd like for SRIV to go on sale again soon on Steam, and that Black/White Album mixture sounds interesting, although as a metal fan, if you ever say Black album without clarifying who you mean, I'll always think of Metallica's self-titled release.

I like that screensaver, but I could see it getting old by the weekend. Oh well.

Haha oh Union Trib...I think that was just lazy journalism and just looked outside of their window. Texas doesn't do snow well, and California has rain problems. Both states can handle heat.

Knowing Steam I'm surprised it hasn't been on sale already.

The Grey Album mashup is interesting, there are a couple of songs I really liked but overall it wasn't a bad album. I'm with you, if someone says Black Album, it's Metallica first, second, and third.

Yeah, an old Wisconsinite Spanish teacher I had in high school always said she was scared to drive on the roads if they were even slightly slick, because "Texans have no idea how to drive in it ... they're not used to having actual seasons." It's true, but with my Wisconsinite bloodline of my family and the fact Texas has seen its share of White Christmases during my lifetime, I seem to manage. Then again, I wasn't driving most of those Christmases and have a tendency to get impatient and run off before my car is defrosted, so there's that ... hopefully, I don't hurt myself next time it snows. lol

It has been on sale, but I didn't get it. I'm hoping to hop on a newer sale of it, which I'm sure will happen at some point.

I need to listen to Jay Z's Black Album, though. Interestingly, according to my memory of a behind-the-scenes extra footage on Some Kind of Monster, Hetfield hates rap, but Hammett considers Jay-Z one of his favorite rappers.
