Quick Hits: I'm Wearing Hockey Jerseys!

Well Happy Friday you crazy Pixlbiticans! Currently in my little piece of what is usually Sunny Southern California it is 48 degrees and cool enough for hockey jersey weather! Yes what is usually my favorite time of the year because I get to wear my favorite jerseys but the jersey that I always wear first is this one

My trusty Paul Kariya Mighty Ducks jersey. At some point I really should get the current jersey but for now I am happy with my now “old school” Mighty Ducks gear (I have two of the plums, one white that’s autographed by the team, and the alternate black with “Anaheim” on the front).

So we are here sitting on a nice Friday morning, why don’t we get started on this edition of Quick Hits With Chris!

Chris Buys A Pig

Last year I decided that since it was Christmas time, let’s have a pig for the family to eat. The peeps dug having the pig, and one of my younger cousins (he’s 5 and very outspoken) told his grandma that he’s a Filipino because he had a pig on Christmas. When his Grandma (she’s white) said yes we all have ham, he got a little upset and said, “No not ham, a pig. A REAL pig.” This year I am a bit late in getting my pig order so it is a little bigger than usual but people take tons of food home so the pig will go fast.

Here I am sitting down waiting for my lunch and the confirmation that my pig was being ordered. I was at a sandwich shop of all places and the owner (awesome guy) told me about his side business of selling pig at his store. Since I was in a pig mood this was my lunch

Lechon Kawali also known as fried pork belly. Dang it I’m hungry again.

Chris And His TV Shows

One of my favorite shows ended last Sunday Night

I already miss this show. I don’t know how accurate it was compared to an actual newsroom but it had all the drama and excitement, along with likeable characters that made come back and watch every week. All the storylines were resolved, and during this episode that was by far my favorite moment

Looks like I’m going to buy The Newsroom on Blu-ray at some point. Watch I’m going to buy the individual seasons only to see HBO release a complete box set a week later.

Two of my cooking shows called it a season this past week as well

I’m happy for the kid who won. He (both were male so no spoilers) deserved it. Apparently the next season of Masterchef Junior starts up in January, which is really fast. Heck there is going to be two seasons of Masterchef Junior in the same time frame as one season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

As for Hell’s Kitchen I had no idea that last night’s episode was going to be a mix of the semifinals, and the finals. After Chef Ramsay cut two of the final four I figured that was it for that episode and went to watch some wrestling. During a commercial break a half hour later I saw it was still going on and sure enough it was the final. I think this was the first season I watched that I really didn’t have a favorite chef. I thought all of them were equal but nobody really stood out as the best.

The final TV Show I want to mention is the first Real World that I am actually going to follow in years

Real World Skeletons. I know you’re thinking, “Chris and his reality shows” but wait this one is going to be interesting. So you take the typical Real World cast who are not only pretty but have some things in their past. Wait it gets better, the hidden skeletons in their past will be represented by people from their past who will live in the house with them. Oh you know someone’s ex is going to show up, start trouble and then get with one of the roommates. I told my friend this is basically the minor leagues for new contestants in The Challenge especially when they do Battle of the Exes.

Since this was the first episode there have been hook ups in the confessional room, and the girl from the country told a bit about her “dark” past which means someone from her past is going to show up soon. Thank goodness this is going to lead into this season’s Challenge so that is two solid hours of crazy reality show goodness.

I saw a commercial last night for a showing of The Sound of Music. Now if you didn't know, Sound of Music is one of my all time favorite films, and I have a little collection of different versions of the soundtrack. Anyways this showing is different because its going to have the lyrics to the songs presented karaoke style on the bottom of the screen. I will watch but we shall see if I actually try and sing.

Roaming Around Target

So I was out yesterday buying some gifts, and first off holy cow apparently finding Frozen toys is like looking for the end of the rainbow. Thank goodness Target had some stuff because I was close to just getting Lego Princess stuff and calling it a day. Props to you folks with kids, because finding whatever toys they want is crazy. Anyways while I was there I made a pit stop to the corner of the electronics section where they keep all the clearance stuff, and I spot this

If I didn’t jump on the $15 PS4 version a couple of weeks ago, this would have been in my basket. Congrats to whoever bought this limited edition bundle. Also there is a thin caramel and sea salt candy bar impulse section at the checkout lanes that is freaking amazing.

Some randoms

I saw this on Reddit and it made me laugh

Disney and Lego are going to be printing their own money when this is released

This should be interesting to see Frozen added to the line of Disney Princess sets.

I was on Twitter and this item was at the top of my timeline

Apparently a handful of people clicked on my tweets. I can’t remember which were my big tweets but I think it was sports related.

Pickups

Games

You would think I would stop for a bit because it is the holidays…but those damn random sales and clearance prices

Ok so while I was at Target looking at that Ghosts Limited Edition set TDU 2 was buried under the 3DS and Wii games on clearance. I now have both Test Drive Games on the 360, and this game came out to $5 and some change. I will jump into this game once I finish off the original.

Battlefield was a random sale at Toys R Us. I think it was $20 and I will jump into that game once I finish off Ghosts (I really need to finish Lego Marvel so I can get back into Ghosts).

Roaming around Walmart (my local store has a McDonalds that cooks the Chicken McNuggets when you order them so this is where I get them) I decided to check out the electronics before picking up lunch and I found these cables for $5 each

Thank goodness I didn’t spend $20 on the Sony cables. 10ft cables for $5 are fine with me. Also is it me or do all PS4 controllers have short battery life? It seems like the PS3 controllers have better batteries. I turned down the bright light and I might have to turn down the speaker in the controller as well.

Music

While at the mall I paid a visit to the local mom & pop to see what new stuff I missed over the past month. I saw a bunch of Iron Maiden 45s with clearance price tags but didn’t pick any of them up. I spent the majority of my time in my favorite spot, the buy 5 $1.99 CDs, get 5 free.

I don't think I ever listened to anything from the Pet Shop Boys' Very, but I was always interested in the CD Case.

I think I got a solid mix of stuff I listen to, as well as a couple of albums to fill holes in my Middle School/High School playlists.

I also checked out the regular section and found a couple of Rap CDs I wanted for a while

I can replace my digital iTunes versions of these singles now.

I added a new Christmas album to the rotation

*ducks from things being thrown at me

A couple of Google Play freebies

*Quick Sports Update

So since my days as a happy student at SDSU I adopted the Padres as my other team (GO HALOS!) and for a while I've been calling them my favorite AAA team (non baseball fans I was making fun of the fact that they were as talented as a minor league baseball team) but over the past week or so they brought in Matt Kemp, Will Myers, Derek Norris, and now Justin Upton. Hot damn baseball should be fun again in San Diego!

Alright Pixlbit I think we should call it a blog at this point. Hope you all have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I need some Dallas Stars gear. I asked my older brother for a Dallas Cowboys shirt already though (I want one that says Finish the Fight on it), so I'll have to do that on my dime. Might just buy it from him in the Cowboys gift shop anyway though, pretty sure they sell other Dallas teams stuff. In fact, there was a national headline about how Rondo jerseys are already being sold here. lol

I can't wait for The Newsroom to be streaming. For the record, I only saw the first episode, which I liked, but a real newsroom would be busier and allow less room for Sorkin monologues from what I saw of it. Otherwise, it looked fairly accurate and what I've seen is local TV news stations. Maybe the editorial-style cable news channels operate differently.

I actually caught that Master Chef Junior finale. Gordon Ramsay looks so uncomfortable having to be nice. lol

That comic about the science teacher made me laugh too and don't worry; usually I don't like T Swift, but her two new songs are actually ones I like, although Shake it Off much more than the new one where she sounds like a crazy person. I agree with Todd in the Shadows' review of it, that song totally IS about her, whether she wants to admit so in interviews or not. Tongue Out

If you want gear, at a cheap price always check the team shops after the season. They are always trying to get rid of older stock. I thought about getting a #FinishTheFight shirt but I didn't want to jinx them (I tend to do that).

Newsroom is such a good show. There are a couple of characters I will really miss and a couple I really don't care for. It is a shame it didn't last for more than three seasons.

Yeah that Taylor Swift album is really catchy in all its pop music goodness.

Funny you should mention it, I asked my older brother for a #FinishtheFight shirt for Christmas since he works in the AT&T Stadium pro shop and he was only just able to get it to me this past Saturday. lol

Yeah that Pet Shop Boys "Lego" CD case is cool, and right up your alley. I might even have it somewhere.

It is such a cool case, the only thing I noticed that was wrong was that one of the little arms is busted so if I find another copy in better condition I'm buying it.

The only hockey jersey I'm wearing is the Flyers. Can't go wrong with the orange and black. Broad Street Bullies 4ever!

Field Mob is some "jazzy fizzle". Like it.

I'm one of the few folks who liked their black alternate jersey from a couple of years ago. I actually almost bought an orange Lindross jersey many moons ago but they didn't have my size.

I like goalies, because I played one once, so I'd go with Bernie Parent or Ron Hextall

Funny, I was thinking about Skee-Lo's song a couple days ago.  I hadn't heard the song in years.  It just popped in my head.  Stayed there for a while too.

That's happened to me with that song off and on for a couple of years. Now I have a copy and it will probably not pop in my head for a while.
