Pixlbit Nation happy Blog A Day #20, where llamas are black and white and dresses are all kinds of black and blue (you white and gold folks are crazy.) Today is the end of BaD which is kind of sad because I liked writing something every day, reading your stuff (again behind, sorry) and we all learned something new, found something interesting, and overall had a good time. I like to think you guys/gals/little green aliens all enjoyed this time. Today is Friday, let’s get started with my favorite, Quick Hits with Chris!

Aztec Basketball

 

POLEEEEEEEE is back! In December Dwayne Polee collapsed during a home game, which was a scary sight especially when normal hostile Viejas Arena went silent. Fast forward the Aztecs’ last game in San Jose when as a surprised he walked out of the locker room dressed. He didn’t start, but when he checked into the game, the 80% Aztec fans (San Jose plays in what could be best described as a high school gym) went nuts. It’s going to be rocking this Saturday as the Aztecs play for the MWC Regular Season Championship at home against Boise. In other fun news the Aztecs are back in the Top 25 in both major polls. I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!

 

WWE Fastlane

In the latest Pay Per View event on the streaming network, we saw what I feel are a bunch of lack luster matches.

 

This was me during most of it, building a new Lego set, watching the Oscars on television and had Fastlane on the iPad.

The Authority vs. Rybeck, Ziggler, and Erick Rowan

This is my perfect storm of a match I would walk out on. Other than the hopes of watching Seth Rollins Curb Stomp somebody I really didn’t care about this match. The bright spot was the return of Randy Orton and he gave everyone RKO’s

Star Dust vs. Gold Dust

The Rhodes Brothers fighting each other. Another fight I really don’t care about, but we do see Dusty Rhodes in the back

 

The USOs vs. Tyson Kidd and Cesaro

Seriously the WWE stacked the beginning of this PPV with people I don’t want to watch. I do like Natalya because her daddy is this guy

 

Oh the Hart Foundation was one of my favorite tag teams in old school WWF

 

Sting vs. Triple H

This wasn’t even a fight, it was Sting wanting to fight Triple H at Wrestlemania because Sting only fights in big events

 

PAIGE vs. Nikki Bella

Easily my favorite match because I like the Bella Twins and Paige. This wasn’t as good as it should have been, and Paige had a wardrobe malfunction. I hope the rematch will be better at Wrestlemania.

 

Dean Ambrose vs. Bad News Barrett

So the Oscars are on…

 

I was teased when the Undertaker’s Entrance Music and extras walking out with torches showed up. Turns out it was Bray Wyatt, who also has an awesome entrance decided to call out the Undertaker. Wrestlemania better be good.

 

Cena vs. Rusev

 

I sent my friend this pic because the only good thing about this match is Lana (from what he told me she’s in the movie Pitch Perfect.) I stopped watching the Oscars for a bit.

 

Main Event Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns

As much as I don’t really care for these two, this was the best match not named Paige vs. Nikki Bella. After Battle Royal where Reigns won the spot to face Brock Lesnar, the WWE fans were a little (a lot) pissed so this was the match created to make a “true” contender for the belt.

 

 

Arrow – Spoilers galore, so it’s going to be black boxed

 

Oh this episode was so good because so many storylines were moving at a good pace leading up to a nice mini cliffhanger. First we have the main storyline of the Queen kids being trained by Merlyn while the other members of Team Arrow aren’t too thrilled. After this fun filled event Thea can’t let go of her guilt and tells Laurel about what she did while she’s was under Merlyn’s control. This sends Laurel into super anger mode where she doesn’t blame Thea but goes after Oliver. Yeah because not telling her about Sara was worse than Laurel not telling her father. It seems that Laurel was angrier at her own actions than with Ollie lying to her. The whole “I don’t know why I was in love with you” or something to close to that wasn’t needed other than to get all the pro Ollie/Felicity folks excited (oh wait they get crushed too). Laurel being a hot head confronts Merlyn because her month of boxing is equal to the stuff learned at Ra’s Al Ghul’s house of Ass Kicking.

Thea decides to take things into her hands and turns her dad in. He’s now in the custody of Ra’s and now Ollie and Diggle decide to go in and try and get him back. We saw Felicity being worried in previous episodes, to downright anger in this episode. She runs off to who I call the poor man’s Tony Stark, Ray Palmer and proceeds to crush all the Olicity folks. Ray gets his Iron Man suit err ATOM suit running and he’s off and flying around talking to DC’s version of Jarvis or whoever ATOM talks to (again I don’t read the comics so I’m basing everything on the movies).

Ollie and Diggle show up to Ra’s House of Ass Kicking, and they get captured. While being chained up Diggle asks Ollie to be his best man because he’s his new brother. Maseo brings Ollie into Ra’s chamber where Ra’s offers him the spot of being the next Ra’s and cliffhanger.

 

A couple of thoughts

 

1. During Ollie and Diggle’s run into the House of Ass Kicking, I found it hilarious that Ollie was shooting tranquilizers while Diggle went military and was killing everyone in sight.
2. I blame Oliver’s lack of commitment to Felicity as the reason why she went to Poor Man’s Tony Stark. I think Ollie will see them at Diggle’s wedding and finally confess his love and how he’s ready to be with her just for her to crush him and say nope.
3. When is fake Iron Man getting his own spinoff. Also I do find it funny that a former Superman is now ATOM
4. I really want to see some crossovers from anyone from Smallville show up in Starling. At this point Clark should be able to start being Superman. Hell bring in Lana Lang or Chloe.

 

 

Agent Carter

It was the season finale and there was a lot of closure and it was Captain America heavy without having Cap in the show. I hope they bring this back next season because I liked the unconventional dynamic duo of Carter and Jarvis. Heck we need more Howard Stark. He’s an interesting character, and my hopes of Agent Carter being the mother of Howard’s kid Tony need to happen. I like to think that’s how the Civil War starts when Captain America finds out who Tony’s mom is. *Remember comic folks, I don’t follow the books.

 

The Return of Survivor

I like to call this the G Rated version of MTV’s The Challenge, it was back, I was shocked and watched the last half hour of it.

The Oscars

I really don't care for the Oscars because it seems only certain films will get the push to be "Oscar Worthy." The bright spots for me in the Oscars was the performance of Everything is Awesome, and Lady Gaga KILLING IT on the Sound of Music. I always tell folks don't sleep on Gaga. She's not just another pop chick, she has some serious talent. Another thing I liked was when one of the winners was being pushed off the stage with the play off music she started talking about a serious topic, that I wish I could remember and the Oscars went classy and shut the music off and let her finish her message. 

 

House of Cards Season 3

This is what I will be watching all weekend. I really should space it out to fill the void created by Arrow not being on for three weeks. *knocks twice on the table

Since we are in week two of what I call Catholic Fridays, Thursday has become Meat Thursday. Last night it was Bacon Double Cheeseburger and some onion rings from the local diner. As much as I love steak, there is always a place for a good old fashion cheeseburger.

 

 

We had family visit the day of the Oscars/WWE Fastlane so instead of ordering a full on pig the local spot also offers just the pork belly

 

The stuff is awesome but probably has something like 100000000 calories per bite. Yup the magical animal Homer didn’t believe in.

The Midweek Swapmeet

Fake Lego Lady had a bunch of new stuff and I bought some stuff (shocker) and when I was paying, in her broken English she said “You no buy since December. One of these figures are free to you.” See trashy Walmart store I used to go to, Fake Lego Lady knows good customer service. Because of this, I might go to the weekend Swapmeet and buy up her Spider-man figures.

Other than the Llamas in Arizona becoming National news, and a certain Black and Blue dress being a major topic my favorite tweet was this one by a funny parody account

Music

I finally made a trip to the local Thrift Store that has a really good selection of CDs and picked up a couple for $1.99 each

 

You can’t have Flesh-N-Bone without Mandy Moore. Both rep the mean streets of Cleveland. Speaking of the mean streets

 

Master P and Yo-Yo Ma. Remember that one portion of the mid 90s when No Limit was everywhere? Who knew years later I’d be buying up albums I see purely for the nostalgia.

 

The local mom & pop music store had this Nas album I’ve been looking for

 

I think all I am missing from his discography is the Lost Tapes album. While at the mom & pop I saw this in the $1.99 vinyl section

 

A little recap, I like to collect The Sound of Music soundtracks because I love the movie. I have the original release of this cast soundtrack but this one is a rerelease, kind of like a greatest hits cover, which I don’t have so I bought it again. At some point I’d like to frame all my Sound of Music soundtracks.

 

 

Lego

Oh there was Lego frenzy this past weekend especially Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday I saw on Reddit that Toys R Us released a bunch of sets early so I raced down to my local store

 

I was shocked to see that there is a new Pirates set. I don’t know if I will jump into these sets yet. I did leave with the set I wanted as well as a surprise set

 

Lego HULK BUSTER! Oh this is such a cool set because you get a new Hulk, new Iron Man and of course the Hulk Buster suit. I also found a sneaky box I must have missed the last time I was there

 

I have a bunch of guards for when I do create Kings Landing.

 

I was also trying to get a smaller Iron Man set with another new armor but the guy at the checkout lane said that its street date is on Sunday. I said ok and went back on Sunday morning because I was picking up some wings at the local Winco (their Salt and Vinegar wings are freaking awesome!)

 

On Sunday I had that Iron Man set, along with this set

 

So I can get Marvel’s version of Green Arrow, along with regular Thor. The checkout lady said the Iron Man set I wanted wasn’t available until March 2^nd or 3^rd. I told her my situation and she called over a manager who tried to override it but couldn’t. They were both apologetic and the manager decided to pull the remaining sets off the floor. I will get this set next week.

Anyways while building the little white dune buggy during the Oscars and Fastlane I found that there was a flaw in the design. The light bar and gun was connected to two sections of the dune buggy but one section would not sit well 

It sways too much so I took it off and found the problem

 

The red piece is shaped like a cross and there is too much movement in the bracket that holds it on the dune buggy. I found a quick fix in my little bin of Technic parts

The cross section goes into the gun assembly, and the cylinder portion goes into the dune buggy. There is some movement but this works a whole lot better.

 

From the Fake Lego Lady I found two new sets, including one that I’ve been wanting for a while but didn’t want to order from China

 

These are the same size as the Lego Hulk figures and Lego doesn’t make these figures.

 

Both are similar to assemble like their Lego counterparts except Hulk Buster has more movement in his arms so more moving parts.

As for the freebie Fake Lego Lady gave me I picked out this guy

 

I remember him from the Marvel game and from the iPad game Spider-Man Unlimited.

 

Here is the fully assembled figure. If I go to the weekend Swapmeet I’ll pick up her other Spider-man figures. There was a white one and some alternate print ones.

 

Alright Pixlbit I am off to enjoy the windy Friday. If it calms down a bit I might go watch Kingsmen today.
