My pick for 2014 is Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition for PS4. I know this choice may be brushing up against the rule that HD remakes and such are not allowed as a choice (and if this does, let me know) but: 1) its the definitive version of the game on consoles so it felt like I was actually playing the game for the first time, 2) I wasn't able to play the game on PC, 3) it was released in 2014 and 4) it gave me more joy than anything else released that year. This was my first purchase for the PS4 (the console was bought the week before the game's release) and I continue to play it to this day. The controls are perfect as well as the leveling system and co-op mode. It looks and runs beautifully on consoles and the Adventure Mode ensures that I can and do play this game forever.
