Super Meat Boy - Best Indie, Ever

Posted on 03/18/2013 at 01:31 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I actually own this game, but I haven't played it at all yet. I bout the Humble Indie Bundle on Steam one year and this was a part of it, along with Braid, Bastion, Limbo and a few others.

I'll have to give it a play!

Friday Favourites: Pac-Man Cereal

They were pretty awesome, wherever they were released. They'd have scratch cards, which were like a game, and then a few stickers. I thought they had gum in them, too, but I don't see it on the package.

Growlanser Generations: PS2 Classics

I fortunately have this collection. I had rented it years ago and loved the games, but couldn't find them anywhere to buy. I stumbled across the collection in a video store one day and snapped it up.

I've yet to pick up the release of Growlanser IV for the PSP, though.

Evangelion on Toonami!

A friend of mine and I have been watching all the Rebuild films as they are released. They are fantastic. Usually just before the english dub is released an anime group in our area screens the Japanese sub at a local theatre, so we get to see it a few weeks before it hits DVD/Blu-ray and then again with the dub when it's released.

I'm looking very forward to 3.0,  I hope they announce the North American release soon.

I somehow completely missed this whole Sarkeesian fiasco. I saw the video crop up in a few different sites, but I wasn't interested to watch it at all. I'm only now hearing about her Kickstarter and all that. Seems pretty damned stupid!

Oh, man! I woulda crapped my pants if I took a pic in the game and saw a ghost appear in it like that.

Is combat necessary in games?

Posted on 03/18/2013 at 08:30 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I think developers can always make a game fun without combat. I think certain games kind of require it. I like my RPGs to have battles, and I think without some kind of combat there I wouldn't play.

Portal shows that an FPS game doesn't necessarily have to be about gun-battles and war. It can be humourous and loaded with puzzles.

R.I.P. Clinger, Super Mario Sunshine, Just for Fun Friday (GLaD 15)

My condolences for your loss.

I missed out on the Gamecube during it's actual lifecycle, so I didn't play Super Mario Sunshine when it actually came out. I tried to go back and play it a few months back to see what I missed and I wasn't a fan of the FLUDD. Had I played it when it was released, I'd probably feel differently, but I have to pick Super Mario 64 over Sunshine, myself.

Ugh, I apologize from the rest of Canada for Justin Bieber.

Friday Favourites: Pac-Man Cereal

Ahh, that would suck, Cary! This cereal was a little different than most marshmallow cereals I've ever had, in that it had this Kix/Corn Pop kind of cereal in it. It didn't even really need the marshmallows, it was already sugary enough!
