Minty Cookie Days

I never saw any reason to stay awake at night in a village. Too much risk for no gain that I can think of. Even at that, I've had villagers disappear even when I hadn't been near the village in a while. I think they walked/fell into exposed underground and got killed by mobs lurking in dark areas, but not completely certain on that.

Is Gamepass streaming, or do you dl the games to your drive? How is your internet? Mine is 50 mbps, and I have trouble with action games on PSNow because of input lag.

Usually you ditch a game when you get stumped on it, so Darkest Dungeon must be good :D

Props to N for making the necessary improvements. Every game in a series can't be a world beater. It's naive to think it's practical, entitled to expect it. While I'm as quick as anyone to enumerate the flaws of a given game, and while this remaster is an example of the utility of fair criticism, the online sturm and drang surrounding even slight misfires became tiresome long ago. And this particular series has earned the right to lack every now and then, I would say.

I've had it happen a couple times where a nether fortress was close by while I spent over an hour searching in various directions. For something so important for progress, there should be a better way of finding them.

HC is hardcore mode. Perma death.

For sheep shearing you set up a grass area with some sheep in it, set up some dispeners facing the sheep with shears in each one. And you need observers linked to the dispensers and facing the grass blocks. The sheep eat the grass, and when the grass regrows, the observers notice the state change and trigger the dispensers which activates the shears.

The XP farm is a large enclosed area (I forget the dimensions, around 28x28 wide and a few blocks tall) with trenches filled with water that flows down towards a 2x2 hole, down into a 23/24 block shaft. At the bottom of the drop are usually blocks or slabs and underneath those are hoppers connected to chests, to collect drops. The enclosed area is completely dark and the mobs spawn and at some point they will walk into the trenches of water and get pushed to the hole and drop 23 blocks, which is just enough to damage them so you can finish them off with a sword strike and get the xp. There's a bit more to it than that (involving hatches and slabs in the dark room), but that's the standard design.

Most people just look up how to build things online and make them in their survival world. There is some kind of farm or automated system for nearly every resource. Villager sorting, item sorting, Enderman farms, gunpowder farms, you name it. Exceptions are diamonds and some other stones.

I started a HC survival mode over the weekend and built a small, automated sheep shearing farm, another XP farm in the sky to which I get to through Nether portals, and started the layout for automated crop farming.  I may do an iron farm, but I always find villagers annoying to deal with.  I find this is a game that I need to give full attention to, so I only play when I don't have any other games going.

What kind of specs do you need on PC though to run anything recent? You only mention the connection requirements.

Do you guys make any farms/automated farms in Minecraft? Only one I have done to date is a mob spawner up in the sky. It's impressive what kinds contraptions people have invented in this game and how they've figured out the mechanics to such a detailed level. Makes my brain feel small.

Gametap was that shit. I got introduced to so many PC classics that way, like Baldur's Gate 2.
