... And then man invented the Wheel

Made from PU!

After some deliberation and some annoying questions I get every week I've desided to go back into skateboard.

Yes, I was once a skaterboy.

I fell out of it while I was a miserable teenager (15, 16), and as much as I like being couped up in my room doing nothing. I find my self more often than not aimlessly wandering on foot to nowhere in particular, looking at no one talking to no one overall acknowledging no one. The way god intended.

But my feet are hurting so I may as well risk some more pain in my knees, elbows head and ankles, I don't really excercise and I have pent up energy, I don't want to ride a bike because in london It's a death warrant and I have ner been able to rollerskate. So here we are.

The more I think about it, the more I feel I'm going through my own midlife crisis, I've always felt old (and talk to any of my so-called mates that would be an accurate description) and If I was ever open about my personal life I'd say I'm overdue.

I just bought a cheap but sturdy basic maple board to start off with (fullsize, 28") so if my head ever goes through the board it'll be easily replace, as I am not as elegant as I used to be I did a little test run...after 3 fall 9 slips and 3 seconds (max) of ride time a slip, I feel I'm regaining my balance. Not immediately mind I just mean I'm getting my skate-legs back, I've been trying to figure out if I ride goofy, regular or what my pushing and leading foot are. I will need to change the wheels though as London has the worst streets ever and I need something a little more "friendly" but I'll take that pill when It flairs up (which is what she saidSurprised).

Before your imagination goes wild no, I wasn't  a fantastic boarder, I could do 2 and a half tricks in total. But that's all you need really, I'm not one to impress anymore. I will be making a series of Blogs called "Skater Diaries", so think of this as the prelude. There won't be too much to write about but when I start boarding without slipping I'll let you know.

This is V saying "Happy Easter" (in retrospect)

What Pete said, lol.

I'd kill myself in short order if I tried skateboarding. Cross country skis and bicycles are bad enough.

No skiing would kill me, not the action, the cold climate, a stiff breeze would end me!

I don't ski, either, but that's due to the balance issues involved with strapping skinny little matchsticks to my feet. I thrive in the cold, and snowshoeing is my winter sport of choice.

I just joined a YMCA that has a skate park. I never skated though. I was always into bikes. My friends and I biked everywhere before I could drive.

I had my bike for a very long time, but I donated it a few years ago. I'd like to get back into now though.

I was a skateboarder in my youth.  I wish I could still do it, but I'm too old.  My daughter wants me to teach her.  We watch skate videos on youtube and I help her with her ollies.  If I can get the money together, I might buy a new board for her and maybe myself too. Laughing

That's cool, Father and Daughter shredding together. Being a public nuissance.

I had forgotten just how expensive wheels are, I know i'll need 2 sets, I wonder how long my board will last though.

I had an old childhood friend teach me the basics, I haven't seen him in years.

Coincidentaly, i've been playing a lot of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 lately and jamming to that great soundtrack.

I've tried to, but I found out that skating isn't really my thing. More of a bicycle guy. Wouldn't mind to learn again though.

I intend on pring my own soundtrack, maybe i'll get a portable speaker Tongue Out

I took me years to learn how to ride a bike, when I finally did I barely ever did it.

I did skateboarding once in awhile but wasn't great at it. I don't like the sensation of being about to fall or having stuff fall on me. I had enough difficulty handling a kayak when my wife and I went kayaking at La Jolla in San Diego in 2013.

I've gotten used to falling on my arse, I like the Jackie Chan approach, learn to fall.

I'm forcing my body to learn skills and use muscles I haven'y used in almost 5 years now, it'll be a challenge.

I tried a little bit of skateboarding when I was younger but I was terrible at it. I did do an Ollie once, but I think it was more accident/luck than skill. I am envious of folks who can hop on a longboard and just go without falling.
