Good evening everyone,

I thought I’d shift gears to end this Video Weekend posting. YouTube channel “The Exploring Series” is something I stumbled as I was looking for more audiobook versions of Lovecraftian lore. Instead though I found a channel that explores lore aspects of various series found out there. Not only does he do videogame and Dungeons and Dragons lore, he also dives into the vast lore that is the SCP Foundation. He has a voice that is authoritative enough to sound like a true chronicler of the organization but at the same time feel open enough to be but a simple storyteller.

I have to admit that I fell off from the online writing collective during the last schism and the different direction it decided to go on, but the SCP’s that The Exploring Series are captivating given how deep the lore goes and what it all covers.

For those not in the know The Secure Contain Protect (SCP) Foundation is a collaborative writing project online that tells the story of a shadowy secrecy society/organization that secures, contains and projects humanity for dangerous threats to humanity by means of their SCP designation number. Some read like document memos on each SCP while others take on different writing styles that tell an overall story or arc depending on the SCP number and the writer involved.

Some of stories that The Exploring Series cover are interesting while others are downright depressing. I thought I’d share a personal favorite video that was shown about SCP-6800: The White Ashes. Though it helps to know some of the background lore to certain groups/events/organizations involved in the telling of this SCP, it’s not detrimental enough where you would be lost. If anything it may spark your interest to dive deeper (like with me) in learning more about these movers/shakers/containment makers of this world. This SCP rabbit hole I did enjoy going down. And its circumstances was something I wasn’t expecting at all from the Foundation or of Humanity in general.

Survival is important for any living species. But at what cost. Enjoy if you can.

Sleep well tonight.

SCP is funny. I especially liked the one describing an Ikea store containing infinite space where people get lost and eventually form a civilization to survive. Great stuff! Ha ha.
