It's been a while since I did a blog.  I wanted to do one a few days ago, but I a got a message saying my blog wasn't saved or something.  There is nothing like spending hours writting a blog only to have the thing disappear into nothing.  Actually, I'm still getting that message, so I'm hoping this blog will post.  So, here we go. Smile

Games I Beat:

Mass Effect Trilogy (PS3)

 photo MassEffectTrilogy_zps3f9f9de9.jpg

The PS3 versions are the worse versions of Mass Effect that I've played.  I am actually surprised by this.  I thought for sure the PS3 versions would be better than or at least on the same as the 360 versions.  ME1 has the most issues and ME3 has the least.  All of them have more hiccups & glitches than the PC and 360 versions.  If you only have a PS3, then you won't notice them.  But, if you have a PC or 360, then get the MET on those platforms.

Now, with that out of the way, ME1 is awesome, ME2 is only as awesome if you played ME1 and brought over your game save, and ME3 is almost as great as ME1 or ME2.  The ending of the series leaves much to be desired to say the least. Undecided

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3)

 photo ninokuni_zpsba81e04e.jpg

I just finished this a few hours ago.  Damn good game.  The combat system isn't too bad, but there was I lot I didn't bother to use or learn.  It is kind of a mess, so I just played around until I figured out the attacks and strategies that work best for me.  I used pretty much the same strategy for regular enemies and bosses for the last 20hrs of the game.  Another thing that bothered me was the useless blather among the characters.  They can go on and on about the same topic.  I wanted to get into what they were saying, but I found myself just button mashing through the dialog just so I could get to something more important.  Other than that, I enjoyed the story and once I got into it, I enjoyed the combat system.  I think it's a good game.

Games I'm Playing:

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS)

 photo trucos-castlevania-dawn-of-sorrow_zps5cb909a4.jpg

Sadly, I'm still playing this damn game.  I've been stuck this whole time.  It's hard for me to figure out what I did wrong or what I'm missing, because it's Castlevania.  You can to do a number of things in any order you want.  I got on youtube and find a playthrough of the game and it didn't help at all.  I found a spot I was stuck at and watched the player get pass it.  I tried the same thing and it didn't come close to work.  I think that guy is cheating or something.  I'll have to find another video.

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

I'm just not into Animal Crossing anymore.  I started this game up just to have a break from Castlevania.  I loved AC on the GC, but I'm so bored with Wild Word.  Is it just me? Undecided

Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)

I hadn't started this game yet, but I did download the update and install it.  That took almost 30min.  I'll probably start it up tomorrow.  I preordered this game years ago.  I just opened it after I finished Ni no Kuni. Laughing

Games I Bought:

Valkyria Chronicles (PS3) - Some of my friends have been mentioning this game, so I figured I should pick it up.  I accidently bought 2 copies of it. Tongue Out

Class of Heroes (PSP) - This was a bit hard to find at a good price.  I was able to find a new copy at GameStop.

 photo 4e771c5a-2dd9-4f3d-b9d7-09e4848985c8_zpsdbc0f96c.jpg

Class of Heroes 2 (PSP) - I preorded it from the publisher's site.  It comes with the digital and physical copies.  I have the digital copy and I'm still waiting for the physical copy to come in.

 photo jakanddaxtercollection_zps2960433f.jpg

Jak & Daxter Collection (PS3) - GameStop had a sell on this game.  It was only $9.99!  NEW! Surprised

Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS) - I picked up a physical copy a few weeks ago.  I've never played a Fire Emblem game.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (XB) - I always wanted to get this game on the XB, just to have it.  I accidently bought 2 copies of it too. Tongue Out

 photo dragonsdogma-da_zpsca3ed6b4.jpg

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (360) - It was getting a bit hard to find, so when I did find a copy, I picked it up.

In other news, I read MS is changing the XBO.  If it's true, then that's awesome.  Now, I can actually buy the console. Laughing

I still don't know when I'll get into next gen.  There aren't that many games I really want to play.  The Witcher 3 is the only game that comes to mind and probably some of the PS3 titles that were pushed to the PS4.  I'll probably just stay in the current gen for a while.  Pick up some games real cheap while everyone is getting the new stuff.  I can get more for my money that way. Cool

What games are you guys playing?  Finshed anything good?  Have any suggestions for me in Castlevania? Laughing

It's here! That's a great deal on Jak and Daxter. I finished the first game but got bored with the second one. Maybe it's because I beat all of them ages ago? I don't know. They sure do have some easy trophies though. Laughing

I wanted to get the game and when I saw it at that price, there was no way I was going to let that go.  Now, all I have to get is the Ratchet & Clank Collection.

I will not be buying a new console for another 2-3 years. That way when I do I'll have an actual game library to select from. DD: Dark Arisen looks awesome. But is it true the story is bland? Some ppl think it is but others loved it.

I read the story wasn't that great too.  I only played the demo and I really enjoyed it.  As long as the combat system is good, I'll enjoy it.

DD Dark Arisen is a lot of fun!  While the story is simple, it's still OK.  I think you'll like it.

Simple is good.  I like simple. Cool

I'll consider it,guys. Thanks! Simplicity in a story isn't bad. So long as there are things within that story worth caring about.

it's here!  It's here!  I always type in Word or Text Edit first, and then post in here so I don't lose my work.

I heard the ME trilogy sucked on PS3, which is lame as I was curious about it.  I'm playing it on PC though.

I'll have to do everything in Text first then.  It scared me a bit when I didn't see the blog show up in the new blog section.  I'm glad backing up a couple pages and reposting worked.

The worst problems I had with the PS3 versions of ME was the long loading and saving.  The other graphical & sound issues I could ignore because I played through the game so many times I already knew what was being said.

The only Jak game I had played was the third. I never owned the game, but when my cousins used to have a Playstation 2, I played the shit out of it. I loved everything about it. Shame I never had the opportunity to finish it before my cousins sold their console.

Well, on games i've been playing, I've been going back to Smash Bros Brawl due to the announcement of the new game. Still an awesome game and now i'm learning how to master the smash attacks and the blocking.

Off topic; kinda late, but it's me, Alex from 1up. I finally created an acount here (unless you had seen me before here XD).

I still have yet to pick up Brawl.  I've been waiting for GameStop to have another buy 2 get 1 free sale.  I want to pick up Brawl, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and any other game.  Brawl and DKCR are both at about $25 used.  I doubt they'll drop lower than that, so I make it a sweet deal, I'm waiting for that sale.

Yeah, I knew it was you.  I just hadn't added you yet.  You're added now. Laughing

They've added enough new stuff in the newest AC game on 3DS that it doesn't feel too same-y, like Wild World and City Folk did.

I'll probably get the 3DS game.  I bought the DS and Wii games a while back and hadn't played the DS version until now.  I still hadn't played the Wii game.  I played the GC game so much and the DS version is just meh.  I'm not a big fan of the rolling landscape.  Maybe it will grow on me.

Sorry you're stuck in DoS. I'm having the same issue with Spirit Tracks on DS. I look up Youtube videos that are where I'm at, and it's just like, wait, what are you ... gaaahhhh!

jgusw

06/20/2013 at 07:53 AM

Yeah, in DoS I saw this area I couldn't pass in the video and trick the person used in the video didn't work for me at all.  I may just have to quit the game.

I absolutely love Dawn of Sorrow.. I want to go play that now....

It reminded me a lot of Symphony of the Night, which was by far my favorite Castlevania game!

06/20/2013 at 08:00 AM

SotN is an awesome game.  All Castlevania games based on it's design I have to play.  I'm still kind of enjoying DoS even though I've been stuck for like a month.  I'll just have to find a walkthrough and read the whole damn thing to figure out if I missed something or what I'm doing wrong.  I explored everything area I can possibly get to that I know of.  I used every familar or trick that I can. Undecided

I got that same Castlevania and I got stuck too. I have considered just starting over. ME3 froze on me once and ME1 froze on me once. And I got stuck on top of a coffee table in ME2 twice, lol. Weird how a version for one console can be screwy but not the others. Need to get back into Ni No Kuni, just got to the desert city. The final DLC for Borderlands 2 drops next Tuesday so I'm don't think I will be getting back to Ni No kuni just yet. I have been wanting to get that Jak collection, didn't want to spend 20 for it though, gonna have to hit them up this weekend. I have been sitting on Metal Gear 4 also, I want to finish MG3 before I get into. My backlog is a mess, lol.

06/20/2013 at 12:53 PM

I don't know how I feel about MGS4.  I started it last night and I'm a bit confused.  It's been years since I played through the other games, so maybe it will take some time to figure out what going on.  MGS4 is starting out on the wrong foot with me already though.  I hate watching 10 - 20min cutscenes after playing only 5min.  Hopefully it will get better.

GeminiMan78

06/20/2013 at 03:24 PM

Yeah I have heard that it is the most cut-scene laden of the series. Took me awhile to get into MGS3, started it and got stuck several times on the very first mission. After I got my bearings it started going much smoother.

Haven't been playing much recently. We moved a couple weeks ago and work has been like "come here and let me strangle you!" But things are settling down some now. I'd love to get Ni No Kuni Smile

Stick with Castlevania! That game is so good. I had to look up how to get to the real boss of the game though. You have to equip a specific set of souls and go to this one room (dang, I think it's been eight years since I played that lol). But I don't know if that's where you're stuck. Certainly plenty of possibilities. Hope you figure it out.

jgusw

06/20/2013 at 04:20 PM

I plan to try at Castlevania again.  I guess I'm just begging for punishment.  The problem could really be anywhere.  I could have the wrong souls equiped or I'm just missing a room or something.  It's very frustrating.  I really wish there was something to help guide the way.  I hint on what to do next would be nice after several hours of no progression in the story. Laughing

For every dent you make in your backlog you  iron them out with more games, lol Laughing

Still need to get Ni No Kuni myself, but eventually for now i need to finish some PC games, I just decided to replay Xenoblade Chronicles, i had almost forgotton all the level 80+ monsters that where running around the place Tongue Out

jgusw

06/20/2013 at 04:44 PM

It's an endless battle. Laughing

Most of the PC games I own, I also own the console versions.  I still hadn't played Xenoblade Chronicles.  My copy is not even open and I hadn't touched the Wii in many months.

Replaying games is my biggest problem.  I'm fighting the urge to play Mass Effect again.

Halochief90

06/20/2013 at 05:53 PM

I was thinking of getting the Mass Effect trilogy for PS3 as I don't like playing on my 360 much anymore. It's a shame it sounds like they did a bad job porting the titles over.

jgusw

06/20/2013 at 06:43 PM

Yeah, it's bad.  They just ported over the game and didn't take enough time to iron it out a bit more.  Or maybe it was just the best they could do.

Keegs79

06/20/2013 at 06:03 PM

You need to get The Last of Us. Awesome game! One of my favorites on the PS3 now! Anyway, Mass Effect surely was going to be worse on the PS3. It had to be ported and the PS3 is complex to develop for. I want to just buy another copy of Ni No Kuni. I don't want to open up the Wizard Edition. That thing is selling at a high price right now unopened.

jgusw

06/20/2013 at 06:47 PM

I've been reading a lot of praise about The Last of Us.  I don't really know much about the game except from the fact many people are enjoying it. Laughing

ME on the PS3 was disappointing.  I thought they would at least improve on ME1 a bit.

If you Wizard Edition is still unopened, I would just buy another copy.

You have reminded me that I need to get back to Ni No Kuni. I just haven't felt in the mood for it. Maybe after I finish Tomb Raider.

jgusw

06/26/2013 at 08:36 PM

Ni no Kuni is a pretty smooth game.  I did quit it for about a week or so and then decided to make myself play a bit everyday.  I put in about an hour at first and slowing my playtime was increasing.  Before I knew it, I had put in 50hrs and I can smell the last boss right around the corner.  I few more hrs and I was done. Laughing

I picked up that Jak And Daxter collection for PS3 when I was on vacation. Haven't played any of it yet. I do remember how good it looked in it's original form. So this should be highly impressive to say the least. Next one of those I want is Ratchet & Clank series.

jgusw

07/03/2013 at 04:44 PM

I still hadn't played my copy yet.  I own one of the Jak & Daxter games on the PS2 and I don't remeber which one.

I want to get Ratchet & Clank too.  I picked up the Sly Cooper hd collection last year.

Dragon's Dogma is great,James! Well, at least I think it's great for whatever that's worth. lol.

But yeah the Xbox 1 is shaping up to be a good console. I'm not happy with microsoft right now but at least they finally came to their collective senses.

jgusw

07/03/2013 at 04:59 PM

I've been thinking about starting it up lately, after I finish Mass Effect again. Laughing  I plan to start Dragon's Dogma or Dragon Age: Origin.  I really don't need to play DA:O again, so I should start DD.

I've been debating in getting the mass effect trilogy since EA has decided to kill off it's online pass program. You answered one question for me on which system I should get it for (leaning toward the Xbox 360). I got first game for free and I happen to find the second game for the Xbox 360 for 5 bucks (if I buy three or four more games with it) but I wondered what kind of free DLC is offered if any with the trilogy pack? I have no qualm in buying the DLC if I have to I'd rather buy less than more.

jgusw

07/07/2013 at 09:18 PM

With the PS3 trilogy, you get all the dlc with ME2 except "Arrival".  With the 360 & PC trilogies you get nothing extra.  I assume the Wii U has all the dlc for ME3.  I have all the dlc for all the ME games on the 360.  I don't remeber the prices on some of them.

"Bring Down the Sky" is the only dlc you want get with ME1.  It's free on the PC.  I think it's $7 on the PS3 & 360.  There is another dlc, but it's not worth it.

ME2 has a lot of dlc.  The only ones worth getting are "Lair of the Shadow Broker" and "Overlord".  They might be $15 each.  So, it's they're a bit high.  Sadly, there are 2 dlc characters that are pretty cool, but making us pay for them is a dick move.

ME3 has a nice bit of dlc too.  The multiplayer stuff is free.  There is 1 character dlc.  I think it's $10.  I recommend getting "Omega" and only get "Citadel" if you're a big fan of the series.  The extended endings are free.  Contrary to what some believe, Bioware did not change the endings.  They just made them understandable.

If you want anymore info, just let me know. Cool
