Is there something wrong with my 3DS?

JASON BLOGI'm having trouble collecting some streetpasses with people. I first noticed it at E3, I was sitting next to NintendoWorldReport's James Jones, waiting for the Ubisoft/Nintendo roundtable to begin, and he was gaining streetpasses left and right. I, on the other hand, gained just two or three in a period where I collected over ten!

Just the other day, I was in a GameStop, and found the 3DS present in the store. I activated wifi mode on that 3DS, and waited about five minutes without any luck. I checked, and the 3DS's Mii Plaza had space for new streetpasses. Just today, I was in another GameStop, this time with Chris, and we both had our 3DSs. I was able to streetpass with someone in the GameStop, as was Chris, but Chris also streetpassed the store 3DS, as well. We checked, and it wasn't "full" of streetpasses, either. We left after being in the store for about 20 minutes, and checking my 3DS at home, I had not exchanged any data with the GameStop 3DS. What's the deal?  Anyone know? Does having more streetpass titles activated increase the amount of time it takes to streetpass? I have no idea yet, but it does seem like my 3DS is a little slow when it comes to making friends, and that makes me sad.

It's not just you.

I have my 3ds on me constantly. I've been to 3 Gamestops, the Crossgates mall (one of the biggest malls in the country I believe,) and I work in the Albany Concourse. I have yet to receive a single street pass. That can't be right.

And yes, I have the WiFi on.

Check and make sure the wifi switch is on with the GameStop 3DSs! I've been around multiple times where they haven't been!

The thing that troubles me, though, is that Chris got a streetpass within three minutes of entering the building. 20 minutes later, and I've got nothing from it. Weird stuff.

My 3DS is more broken, the only 2 street passes I've ever gotten were from you and Chris. Two lonely street passes...

I still can't get over how close Angelo is to where I used to live. I used to work right up the street for SUNY System Administration, which is literally in walking distance to where Angelo works. Also of note, Chessa and I met at the McDonald's across the street from Crossgates on Western Ave - it's a small world.

Did we mention a guy I went to high school with worked at Artificial Studios with Jason H and another guy you went to high school with? Bizarre.

And you can't get streetpasses if you never take your 3DS out somewhere with you! That just means you're broken!

Florida = old people = not that many 3DSes.

Old people can't figure out how to carry their 3DSs around with them. Just look at Nick for proof.

I'll have more information after Christmas. Both of my boys are getting 3DS consoles.

I have two street passes. One from Publix (seriously) and another on my commute home from work. Which means that someone must have been tailgating the hell out of me on 275.

I have about 296 different people in my Mii plaza, most from streetpasses, but you can also gather people by playing against them online.

How is it that so many Floridian gamers found this site? I mean seriously.

Anyways, if you think there's something wrong with your 3DS' Wi-Fi, is there some reason why you haven't considered getting a replacement? You know, call Nintendo Tech Support and so forth.

I'd be more worried if I couldn't get any streetpasses, but as it stands, I can get some, it just takes longer than normal, I think. I'm not exactly sure how I'd express that to Nintendo tech, since it seems to work, but it just works slowly.

I still have no street passes. I'll have to steal the kids 3Ds tonight while they are sleeping and make sure they are configured to allow street passes. I know I set up a bunch of parental controls on those things, but i'm pretty sure I allowed street passes.

@ Nick. No kidding. Yeah it sure is a small world. You gotta tell me how you ended up in Florida sometime. I'm jealous. It sucks up here in the winter.
