*I've saved all my Blogs from 1up now, i'm not willing to lose all that work so till I decide to create something new (like that Pandora's Tower Non-review  I've been putting off Foot in Mouth). So, just incase you missed it...I'm getting my game music Blogs out of the way*

We all have Songs from our favourite franchises So I decided to do a top 10 with the Mascot that got me started gaming in the first place.

So Lets get Started, shall we?

10. Never Turn Back - Shadow the Hedgehog - Crush 40

Admittedly not the best game game in the Sonic franchise but it's one of the best of the worst... regardless it had some awesome songs in this is one of them a catchy tune with a clear message.

9. Chemical Plant - Sonic the Hedgehog - Masato Nakamura

This is a song has a great beat and wicked bassline it's one of those songs that make you dance while playing (me anyway),

8. Escape From the City - Sonic Adventure 2 - Ted Poley and Tony Harnell

If they're one song everyone remembers from this game is the first level, every good game should be like that. This song was awesome and if you hummed it near any gamer chances are they'll break into song (or maybe that's just me).

7. With Me - Sonic & the Black Knight - Emma Gelotte & Tinna Karlsdotter ft. Marty Friedman

This is a very epic song and though I know many prefer the crush 40 verion but I prefer this one, a bit of girl power is always nice. It nicely fits with the sense of ergeancy with the final boss with really good lyrics.

6. Green Hill Zone - Sonic the Hedgehog - Sega Team (Masato Nakamura)

Classic, nuff said.

5. Fly in the Freedom - Sonic Adventure 2 - Tabitha Fair and Todd Cooper

I'm a bit of a Jazz enthusiast so when I heard this theme I quickly took a liking to it, great vocals Imust say.

4. Final Boss - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 - Sonic Team of America (Jun senoue and Michael Jackson 0_o)

This is how you do Final Boss music, this has a great build up it starts out ominous and slow then then it picks up the pace and becomes more dynamic, nothing short of epic. To bad it took me a decade to get to the end (because i didn't own it till 2003ish).

3. Open Your Heart - Sonic Adventure - Crush 40

This made Crush 40 a house hold name for many a fan, Sonic was way past cool but now he was HARDCORE!

2. Sonic Boom - Sonic CD - Pastiche

There are songs in games that pretty much sum up your childhood this is one mine, I remember expecting a demo but instead i saw what i can only describe (as an 8 year old) "the most wicked thing ever!" my brother later showed me the movie with the same production team as the animated cut scene (Studio Pierrot the development team who did the Blue Dragon Anime and other Shonen stuff), It annoys me that not to this day a Sonic hasn't got another series or movie but that Sonic X fails to be as awesome as the games animated bits or the movie, O well at least Sonic Satam was good Laughing.

This song is great

1. Live & Learn - Sonic Adventure 2 - Crush 40

Man did this song rock my socks off when I first heard it, during the final boss it was good background music but i was more interested in ya'know saving the Earth from imminant destruction and what'notTongue Out But after the final cut scene and I heard it full it convinced me to get a Gamecube (I knew it was a dream cast port) which is probaly why it's at the top of the list, the song alone made me buy a console.

So there you go, my favourite Sonic songs ever, what are your favourites then?

... Oh some honorable mensions E102 Gamma's ThemeUnknown from M.E.This MachineSeven Rings in Hand (Crush 40), Angel Island Zone 2, Throw it All Away.

This is V saying "Follow me, set me Free..."

My favorite? I'm honestly going to have to go with the boss theme prior to the final one in Sonic 3.

But holy crap, Marty Friedman was on one of these?!! He was my favorite Megadeth guitarist!

Though I have a soft spot for Live and Learn, and even a funny relationship with Sonic Boom, Chemical Plant Zone is totally my favorite hands down. Perhaps its nostalgia, but its just...perfect

I get it, i suppose it can't be helped.Smile

I was discussing with a mate of mine who's into music tech and does his own synth music and such (with a gameboy tooSurprised) He was saying that Green Hill Song had damn near perfect sound quality and though Chemical Plant was a little better the precussion parts where far weaker. Or something along those linesTongue Out

It's weird for me hearing Sonic songs that have lyrics. Maybe just because the only ones I ever really played a lot are the classics on Genesis. Chemical Plant Zone is easily my favorite out of these.

From Sonic 2 it is my favourite. Growing up with it I suppose I may prefer it, myselfSmile

My two favortie songs in this list were Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone.  Green Hill is just such a classic sound that set the tone for the rest of the first game for me.

Sonic 2's Chemical Plant Zone had that kind of tune that just fit perfectly with speedy action on-screen.

early Sonic games had both varied and well polished music, i can see why you'd vear to the classics. Smile
