Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be worth buying again on Wii U

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of my favorite games of this generation, and Square Enix is bringing a Director's Cut version to the Wii U sometime soon. Normally that wouldn't elicit much of a response from me. I think it's great when a great game becomes available to a wider audience but I've already played it, so it doesn't affect me, right. Not in this case. Eidos Montreal is fixing the game's weakest and most frustrating part: the boss fights. While at PAX East, one of the game's designer's told Joystiq (read the whole story here) that the level layouts have been completely redone to allow multiple ways to take down each boss, like stealth and hacking, instead of just pouring as many bullets into them as possible. As he said, "The boss fights are now as they should have been."

This is a significant update to the one area of the game that everyone found disappointing when the game originally released and makes this Director's Cut the rare case when rebuying a game you've already played is completely justified. Throw in the fact that this release will include the Missing Link DLC (which I never played) and this Wii U release looks to be the definitive edition of a standout title. I may not have a Wii U yet but when I do, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut will be a priority purchase.

Awesome. The war of attrition sound of those boss battles is actually a complaint I've had with 2D Metroid bosses I've had for a while now, nice to see at least Deus Ex dvelopers are updating things a bit.

The game was so smart and flexible and then you got to these bosses that were just dumb bullet sponges. I actually decided not to replay the game on hard simply because I didn't want to deal with a more difficult version of some of those bosses again. Definitely looking forward to this Director's Cut Smile

Yeah, the hard mode bosses left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. That recent "Rage-Quit" article sums up most of my feelings, though what bothered me the most was how much the bosses reminded me of something from the Metal Gear series, which I love in almost every case (which there are many of).

I haven't played the game yet so if I can ever afford a Wii U it will be all new to me.

I hope you can play it sometime. Even with the original bosses, it was an excellent game. But if you can wait for the Wii U version (and if you haven't played it yet, why not wait?), that's definitely the way to go.

I didn't know this was happening. I had been planning on mailing my 360 copy of HR to a friend, so it'd be nice to have a replacement (especially with these revisions).

Aside from the controller and (presumably) cheapest price point of this next-gen, the Wii-U hasn't done anything to catch my attention, but that just changed.

The Wii U has some decent things now and some good stuff coming, but right now it's kind of meh...

I still need to beat this on ps3. I had made it pretty far, but lost interest in it. The originals too for that matter. I bought them for really cheap off Steam.

I've always wanted to the play the first Deus Ex. Square Enix recently trademarked some new Deus Ex names, too, so hopefully we'll get some new games before too long as well.

It's good they "fixed" the boss fights so you have more ways to beat them now. My friend who played it on the pc was lucky he assigned all his skill points "just right". Figures. His decision making skills tend to be better than my own. lol.

Theoretically you should be able to get through no matter how you spec your character but I had some real trouble on a couple of the bosses because I had put a lot of my points into stealth things. I'm glad that won't be a handicap now.

the only problem, is that I recently purchased my 2nd copy of the game.  So, spending over 120 dollars for 3 different copies of a game seems like a waste to me...  wait, i did that with the metal gear games, nevermind.

What made you buy it twice? Maybe you should wait for a used copy then lol

i had a ps3 version, then my ps3 died.  since i already had a 360 and wanted to play it again, i got it for the 360.

I'd never played through Deus Ex.  Maybe I'll have to look into it.  The revamp of the boss fights is a great idea, a lot of games just turn into hack & slash at those points (Four Swords anyone? lol)

You really should play it, whoever you are lol. The boss fights wouldn't have felt out of place in a mediocre game but the rest of Human Revolution is so good. Also, played with friends, Four Swords is awesome! Laughing
