BaD #6: A Day with Slayin'

Slayin' icon Slayin' is a gem of a little game. It's an action RPG arcade game, more or less. The game takes place from a sideview perspective on one screen. Your character—you start out with the knight (which is what I'm still using) but you can unlock a bunch of other characters like a wizard, archer, and ninja—automatically runs but you can change direction and jump at will. I don't know yet how the other characters play but the knight always has his sword out in front of him and you kill bad guys by running into them with it. The enemy fodder, from what I've played, is mostly slimes that come up from the ground but there are a lot of other enemy types, including several flying ones and some big bosses. Things quickly get hectic and it becomes difficult not to get hit. You can spend coins the bad guys drop on armor and better weapons and you'll gain levels quickly as you slay enemies. It's very exhilerating and difficult to stop playing. The lovely pixel art and great NES-style music certainly don't hurt either! Slayin' is a no-brainer recommendation at 99 cents but if you're still not sure, you can try the original flash version here.
