So I was all ready to put up the OCR Spotlight yesterday but I got home and discovered we had no internet! Well, we had a signal coming to our modem and our wifi network strength was great but none of our devices--computers, tablets, phones, game consoles--could connect to the internet. The Comcast people were dumbfounded when their little bag of fix-it tricks didn't work and so were no help at all. My apologies if any of you work for Comcast but we've had nothing but trouble from them over the last year. They are the only company that offers internet in our area, though, so we've had to just deal with it Undecided Anyway, so I couldn't post this yesterday. I'm actually trying to fit this into little chunks of available time while at work because we still have no working internet at home. So let's get to the music!

600 A.D. in Piano

From: Chrono Trigger

Remixed by: kLuTz

As you might be able to guess from the title, this is a solo piano remix. The source song, "The Wind Scene," is a popular one to remix. In fact, I think I have four different piano remixes of it, all quite different. But this one's my favorite, I think. It's very accessible and easy to listen to but doesn't sacrifice any smart arranging to achieve that. It's starts out fairly slow and simple and adds complexity and variety as the song progresses, so that even the repetitions of the melody never bore. Things really pick up about two thirds of the way through and it just gets more and more interesting. For me this is very much like musical comfort food. I can listen to this and the other few remixes by kLuTz over and over without tiring of them. It's quite good and the quality of the recording is superb. Hope you like it Smile

Chrono Trigger has some of the best music in a videogame that I've ever heard. I always liked Schala's theme the best. I need to play this game again soon. It's been forever, and it's my favorite rpg ever. This song was great. Thanks Philip!

Chrono Trigger is great all around. My wife got the DS version a couple years ago. I've been meaning play that because I haven't since the SNES days but of course I haven't lol. Glad you liked the song. kLuTz has a couple other remixes, one of them also from CT (not Schala's theme, though, sorry).

Very nice and well done song.

I really need to get Chrono Trigger somehow. I tried the game for the first time in a emulator years ago and I was completaly hooked into it. No wonder why it's a very beloved game.

Yes, you definitely need to play it if you haven't! I think it's on Virtual Console (might be different where you live, of course) and there's always the DS release, but definitely find a way.

That was a nice piece. Our electricity actually went out yesterday. Sucked. Can't say Time Warner is the greatest (even if it's not the power, TWC goes out constantly), but I remember when we had Comcast, and I'm glad that period in our lives is over.

We just got approved for a new apartment yesterday and the only service offered there is Fios, so we're looking forward to the change.

Chrono Trigger has fantastic music. Why can't more like it be used today? Makes you wonder. Such a vital part of the whole game experience to me.

The soundtrack really can push a good game into being a great one. I don't think CT would be as fondly remembered as it is if the soundtrack wasn't so incredible.
