Games Beaten

-Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3)

EDF 2025 is a weird conglomerate of pros and cons. The action is satisfying and the character classes are very different but the thought of running through all the missions with all four classes is mind-numbingly daunting. And despite the variety to the missions, they do run together after a while. There is a great variety to the weapons but getting them all to drop is a pain. EDF is great co-op but online play is finicky (at least on the PS3). Overall a fun game though.

Games Bought

The big purchase news for August was that we got an Xbox One! My wife has been talking about getting one for years but finally pulled the trigger. She got the Minecraft edition since she knows our boys will play that and also picked up a cheap copy of Destiny 2 since we can cross save to other platforms in that game now. Will we actually play that at all on there? I don't know. Lol. We also got Divinity: Original Sin 2 to play together co-op, though we haven't started it yet. Plus I was able to download a bunch of Xbox Live Arcade games from the 360 days, which is very cool. Perhaps I'll finally play Shadow Complex. As for the other consoles, my copy of Collection of Mana (Switch) got here. Had to wait for that physical release! We also got Scribblenauts Showdown (Switch) for the kids, though their spelling abilities are suspect (I think this game actually did help that). They spent most of their time making things BIG and FAST. I picked up both PS4 PS+ games, WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4.

Games Being Played

-Collection of Mana: Final Fantasy Adventure (Switch)

Having fun with this vintage Game Boy game and it's early '90s translation. It's a very straightforward game but solid.

-Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PS4)

I am 2/3 through the main story. Life has conspired to keep me from playing it this last week, but I'm hoping to finish it up in the first half of this month.

-Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (Switch)

Progress is still slow but I did recently get the double jump!

-Destiny 2 (PS4)

There has continued to be a lot to do leading up to the next big expansion next month!

-Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3)

Starting on the Wing Diver class.

I’ve been eyeing that Wipeout collection for a long time. Love those games.

i bought my brother Divinity for his birthday. He loved it.

I have one of the PSP WipEout games but after playing so much F-Zero GX on the GameCube, WipEout felt kind of soulless We'll see what I think if I actually get around to trying this collection.

That Mana collection is really good stuff. Glad we got an official version of Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana. That was always one of my most wanted localizations.

Yeah, it's definitely been one of those holy grail games for 2+ decades. It's gonna take me a long time to start calling it Trials of Mana though. Seiken Densetsu 3 is burned into my brain from years of use.

My copy of Collection of Mana should arrive at my house this Friday. I'm going to go straight to the third game! I've played the other two to death already.

I never finished Final Fantasy Adventure back in the day and only went through Secret of Mana once (both borrowed from a friend), so I'm looking forward to playing the whole set.

I'm playing EDF 2025 on Xbox One with a friend right now and it runs smooth as silk. It only chugged once at the end of a battle with a gigantic walking robot. I'm working through a normal difficulty playthrough with the Ranger. Weapon limits really annoy me because I have a ton of high level weapons I farmed on Xbox 360.

I watched an extended trailer of the Mana Collection today at Gamestop - looks great and I want it.

A friend told me recently that the PS4 rerelease of 2025—EDF 4.1—has more generous drop rates for the weapons and I'm like ugh, whyyyyyyy? Lol. I'm playing as the Wing Diver now and I love the mobility.

I played some 4.1 but not enough to notice a difference.

I just beat the game today with a Ranger. I jumped around in difficulty though, so no achievement. I'm now replaying levels to get the normal and hard achievements. Maybe hardest too. I'm trying some Inferno difficulty too for new weapons.

I also got the physical copy of Collection of Mana. Can't wait to sink my teeth into Trials!
